  • Korean High Speed Train (KHST) has been tested on high speed line in JungBu site since it was developed in 2002. The KHST figured 7 cars was modeled for dynamic simulation with Vampire program. and the data acquisition system was used to test successfully the on-line test for proving the dynamic performance of KHST. The comparison between test and simulation results for dynamic behavior of KHST was tried in this paper and it was very difficult because the environmental conditions and running conditions have an effect on the test results and these conditions are unable to be modeled for dynamic analysis. Also the parameters for data acquisition system for test are usually not same to simulation conditions. Therefor, in this paper the acceleration data after filtering with low pass filter below 1Hz were used to compare between test and simulation results because the low frequency range is useful to evaluate the dynamic performance for railway vehicle system, so as steady state curving acceleration. The results show that both are similar in low frequency range.

투과손실을 이용한 틸팅차량의 실내소음 예측 (Prediction of Interior Noise for Tilting Train by using Transmission Loss)

  • In this paper, we describe the analysis of interior noise for tilting train that is being developed in Korea. Tilting train is made of composite material to reduce the car body's weight and attached a self-steering system on bogie to improve curving performance. However, the acoustic performance (Transmission Loss) of such material is worse than the materials of conventional train, such as aluminum, steel and so on. Therefore, we measure the transmission loss of side wall/floor of tiling train and predict the interior noise for tilting train using its measuring results.

  • In this paper, running performance analyses of an articulated light rail vehicle are carried out using VAMPIRE software package. The stability analysis to determine the critical speed and the safety analysis such as derailment coefficients, lateral forces of wheels and reduction of wheel load are carried for the track conditions of straight, transition and curving range to the operating velocity of 40km/h. Also, ride quality is analyzed. As the results of analysis, the safety of light rail vehicle satisfied with the limit values and the ride quality for tare and full load condition was shown to the "not uncomfortable" level in ISO 2631-1 (1997) criteria.

  • Rotem has been using VAMPIRE for simulation and verification of the railway vehicle design. To improve the capability and accuracy of the analysis ability, ADAMS/Rail has been chosen as the next generation analysis tool. The dynamic performance of the railway vehicle, which is designed and manufactured by Rotem, is analyzed and simulated using ADAMS/Rail. The critical speed for linear and non-linear stability on tangent track, curving performance on various curved tractk, ride quality, derailment coefficient and the eigen values are calculated. In this paper, the results from ABAMS/Rail are compared with VAMPIRE's results.

  • 커브형 집적 영상 기술은 렌즈 배열을 이용하여 3D 영상을 공간에 쉽게 표현할 수 있는 기술이며, 넓은 관측각을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 커브형 집적 영상에서 물체의 인식 향상을 위하여 다이렉트 픽셀 매핑 (DPM) 방법 기반의 비선형 상관기를 제안한다. 제안하는 비선형 상관기는 커브형 집적 영상 시스템에서 장애물에 가려진 물체로부터 픽업된 요소 영상을 DPM 방법을 통하여 해상도가 향상된 새로운 요소 영상을 생성한다. 새로운 생성된 요소 영상을 사용하여 복원한 3D 영상들과 참조 영상간의 비선형 상호상관을 이용하여 3D 물체의 인식 성능 향상시킨다. 제안된 방법의 유용함을 보이기 위하여 기초적인 상관 관계 실험을 수행하고 기존의 방법과의 비교 결과를 보고한다.

  • Kyung-p-1 main line is characterized by its curves radii of which are considerably small. It is essential for running time reduction of train to improve capabilities of curve negotiation. This improvement can be achieved by designing a bogie with flexible suspension system. The effect of the improvement is mainly concerned in the primary yaw stiffness of bogie suspension. This paper gives a linear analysis for the motion of railway vehicle on curved track and gives also computer simulation results for Semaul Train. The results introduce a conclusion that the primary yaw stiffness of Semaul train is too rigid to be self-steering on Kyung-pu main line curves.

능동형 시제 조향대차의 임계속도 평가 (Evaluation of Critical Speed for Active Steering Bogie Prototype)

  • Critical speed analysis was conducted for a active steering bogie prototype, developed to improve the curving performance of railway vehicles. The critical speed for the design concept was about 169.2k m/h. To validate the analysis result, we performed a critical speed test for the prototype bogie using a roller-rig tester. The test results showed that the critical speed for the prototype bogie was about 165 km/h. From the analysis and test results, The critical speed for the prototype bogie was determined to be 165 km/h. Considering the maximum operating speed of the test vehicle is 100 km/h, the prototype bogie is considered stable.

  • This research has been performed to reveal the hysteresis phenomena of the hunting motion in a railway passenger cars. It is found that there are some factors and its operation region to make the nonlinear critical speed reacts to them more sensitively than the linear critical speed. The simulation results show that a self steering bogie system can be a substitute proposal to improve curving Performance together with the reduction of hysteresis of critical speed. Full scale roller rig test is carried out for the validation of the numerical results. Finally, it is certified that wear of wheel profile and stiffness discontinuities of wheelset suspension caused by deterioration have to be considered in the analysis to predict the hysteresis of critical speed precisely.

기존선을 통과하는 고속차량의 적절한 주행속도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Appropriate Driving Speed for High-Speed Trains Running the Conventional Line)

  • KTX (Korea Train eXpress) is the first high-speed train operated in Korea and its highest speed reaches 300 km/h. Korean high-speed trains are mostly operated on the railroads exclusively designed for high-speed trains, but the sections of Seoul~Gwangmyeong, nearby of Daejeon station and Dongdaegu are operated on the existing tracks having the speed less than 150 km/h. With this paper, we'd like to analyze the lateral force that occurs between the wheels and the rail when high-speed trains were operated on the existing track section to suggest an appropriate driving speed for high-speed trains. As the rigid wheel base of the high-speed train is 3m which is about 50% longer than normal vehicles, it works as an advantage for high-speed driving. However, as the lateral force becomes higher than normal vehicles when driving on curves, plans to reduce wear-outs on the wheels are required.

  • A new dynamic balancing algorithm has been proposed to minimize the number of sensors necessary for the horizontal balancing of the mobile inverted pendulum while maintaining the same level of the commercial performance. The inverted pendulum technique is getting attention and there have been many researches on the Segway since the US inventor Dean Kamen commercialized. One of the major problems of the Segway is that many sensors are required for the control of the Segway, which results in the high price. In this research, a single gyro and a tilt sensor are fused to obtain the absolute tilt information, which is applied for the control of the mobile inverted pendulum. A dynamic balancing technique has been developed and applied for a robust control system against disturbances. The intelligent handling and stable curving of the Segway as a next generation mobile tool are verified with a human loading.
