Teacher quality is a topic of international concern, as it impacts student learning and teacher preparation. This study compared the undergraduate secondary science teacher preparation programs from two universities in Korea with those of Oregon, USA. We examined the programs' structural curricular coherence, conceptual curricular coherence, and curricular balance. Structural curricular coherence was determined by examining the overarching goals of the institutions' programs, the organization of the programs of study in terms of meeting those goals, and outside bodies of evidence. All universities were in structural coherence for various reasons. Conceptual curricular coherence was determined by examining students' perceptions of the connection between their preparation and their clinical practice. In case of Korea, most students from both universities were not satisfied with their practical preparation. In the US, the students from both institutions felt well prepared to transition to inservice teaching. To determine curricular balance, we examined the institutions' preparation programs looking at the credit hours taken in the four main areas of the teacher knowledge base: GPK (General Pedagogical Knowledge), SMK (Subject Matter Knowledge), PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge), and CK (Contextual Knowledge). The total credit hours taken in each category was very similar by country but the application and field component in the USA was far greater than those of Korea where the focus was heavily on SMK and PCK. The main reason for these may be the nations' licensing and employment processes.

The purpose of this study is to delve into how elementary mathematics textbooks deal with the areas of triangles and quadrilaterals from a viewpoint of the Didactic Transposition Theory. The following conclusion was derived about the teaching of the area concept: The area concept started to be taught perfectly in the 7th curricular textbook, and the focus of area teaching was placed on the area concept, since learners were gradually given opportunities to compare and measure areas. As to the area formulae of triangles and quadrilaterals, the following conclusions were made: First, the 1st curricular, the 2nd curricular and the 3rd curricular textbooks placed emphasis on transposition by textbooks, and the 4th curricular, the 5th curricular and the 6th curricular textbooks accentuated transposition by teachers. The 7th curricular textbooks put stress on knowledge construction by learners; Second, the focus of teaching shifted from a measurement of area to inducing learners to make area formula. Namely, the utilization of area formula itself was accentuated, while algorithm was emphasized in the past; Third, the way to encourage learners to produce area formula changed according to the curricula and in light of learners' level, but a wide range of teaching devices related to the area formulae were removed, which resulted in offering less learning chances to students; Fourth, what to teach about the areas of triangles and quadrilaterals was gradually polished up, and the 7th curricular textbooks removed one of the overlapped area formula of triangle.
Presently, in the countries, such as America and Japan which are better in socio-economical conditions than Korea, in Taiwan which is similar in them to us, and even in Thailand and Philippine which are thought lower in them, health education is taught as one of curricular subjects in elementary and secondary school levels. In Korea, however, the importance of teaching health education as a curricular subject has been recognized among many professionals of health since a long time ago. Along with current rapid development of polytechnique and industry, various kinds of serious health hazard have appeared even in our daily life, so it has been urgently needed that people have comprehensive knowledge and skills to resolve one's own health problems. Among various conditions needed to resolve the health problems in our society, it is one of the most effective precedures that health education is taught as a curricular subject at least in elementary and secondary school levels. For this, the followings are inevitable ; reformation of school health organization and laws involving health, development of teaching materials in health and training of health educators.

The purposes of this study were to develop ICT time management program for middle school students using in the creative extra curricular activities and to test the effect of this program in the knowledge and attitude aspects of time management. The contents of a middle school Home Economics curriculum and nine different textbooks were analyzed Based on these analyses 5 ICT lesson plans on time management were developed. The ICT instructional method was used to develop 5 lesson plans. The second grade middle school students as an experimental group participated in 5 ICT time management classes during middle school creative extra curricular activities. The control group of students who had some condition with the experimental group were taught by traditional instructional methods. After experiment, the changes in attitude and knowledge of time management of both groups were analyzed using Analysis of Covaziance. The significant improvements of attitude and knowledge on time management were found among the experimental group of students compared with control group of students. Thus the following conclusion is made the ICT time management instruction conducted in this study was found loaming more effective than traditional one in attitudes and knowledge of time management

The article deals with the role of extra-curricular work by means of multimedia technologies in order to improve the quality of training of future specialists. An important condition for achieving high results in training specialists is the optimal combination of classroom and independent extra-curricular work of students by means of multimedia technologies. Very significant is the development of student independence, the formation of skills of independent search activity, the ability to take responsibility, independently solve a problem, find constructive solutions, a way out of a crisis situation, and so on. Extra-curricular work forms students' ability to master the techniques of analysis, synthesis, generalization, comparison; develops flexibility of thinking; opens up opportunities for the development and stabilization of positive learning motives to activate the process of mastering knowledge by means of multimedia technologies as a means of forming the personality of a highly qualified specialist. The concept of multimedia as one of the priority areas of Information Technology, which plays a particularly important role in the process of informatization of education, is revealed, and its advantages in education are shown. The advent of multimedia systems optimizes transformations in education, in many areas of professional activity, science, art, etc. The necessity of distance learning to improve the quality of training of future specialists using multimedia technologies in extra-curricular work is justified. The effectiveness of pedagogical support in the process of distance learning is achieved by the following conditions, which is revealed in the article. Various forms and types of extra-curricular work of students that are used in the modern practice of the educational environment of a higher education institution are described. Scientific and informational activity is considered a key area of information activity. The analysis of scientific and information activities in the field of education allows us to identify its main functions, which emphasize the growing role of scientific information in the education system, in particular, extra-curricular work using multimedia technologies. Operational, complete, accurate, targeted information that meets objective and subjective needs becomes an important link between the field of management, science and practice.
This study examines the significance of digital fabrication of scaled physical models in the digital design process and highlights the integration of design computing and digital fabrication in architectural education. Advances in CAD/CAM technologies have increasingly influenced building design and construction practices by allowing the production of complex forms that were once difficult to design and construct using traditional technologies. At the advent of digital architecture, schools of architecture introduced digital technologies to their curriculum, focusing more on design computing than digital fabrication, preventing students from completely mastering digital technologies. The significance of digital fabrication for scaled physical models as a design media within the digital design loop is discussed. Two case studies of leading schools of architecture that are successful in building the bridge between both areas are given. These focus on the curricular structure to integrate both areas within design studios. Finally, a curricular structure offering students a balanced approach to these areas of knowledge is proposed based on what was learned from these case studies.
The present age is requested designer to be a generalist. The educational methods of university is changing over from intention of the technical education which is one of the traditional education methods to intention of a talented man with multiple knowledge. Also, the universities are establishing special curricular for cultivating men of ability. Many of an employer want to engage not only the specialist as the talented men in their own major field, but the generalist as the multiple knowledge in several field. Designer should have both a good stock of knowledge and personality. Also design should be able to easy access to all as a generalist instead of an obstinate streak as a monopoly of their specialist. This study was focused on development of basic research for understanding about design to generalist. It is purposed to suggest a research for a new recognition of design.

Purpose: Knowledge on pathophysiology is important to understand diseases and patient conditions and also in providing advanced nursing care. This study was performed to investigate the present situation, knowledge, and educational need on pathophyiology of advanced practice nurses(APN). Method: Eighty-four APN, who is practicing in hospitals nationwide, were surveyed with structured questionnaires developed by researchers. The questionnaire were composed of 109 items with 4 point scales with the contents of general characteristics, educational experience on pathophyisology, educational need, and knowledge on major and subcategories of pathophysiology. Result: The 77.1% of APN had experience of taking pathophysiology lecture and the lecturer were mainly medical doctors(39.8%) and APN(32.4%). The 61.5% of APN answered that the knowledge on pathophysiology was helpful and 97.6% of APN thought pathphysiologic education is needed in clinical practice. Seven major categories of pathophysiology showed higher scores were water imbalance, heart diseases, hemodynamic disorders, arterial vessel disorders, electrolyte imbalance, diseases of the digestive system, and diseases of the respiratory systems. Educational needs on the major and subcategories of pathphysiology were different by the field of APN and also by the clinical experiences as APN. APN also responded that there is a necessity to change the present curricular more specific to each practice field and more focus on the clinical practice. Conclusion: It was confirmed that educational and clinical need on the pathophysiology is very high and there is urgent need to change current curricular more specific to the field of APN and also clinical practice. This survey will help to identify and clarify the areas of change and to improve the education for the APN.

The purpose of this study was to examine the types and characteristics of the knowledge constructed by pre-service secondary science teachers. Data included 26 student-teachers' narratives regarding their experiences in teaching high school students who were enrolled in extra-curricular science classes. It was revealed that the pre-service teachers awoke to the importance of subject matter knowledge, and learned it themselves in the situation of their own teaching. Especially their concern about science content knowledge was strongly associated with the matter of didactic transposition of the knowledge. The result also showed that the pre-service teachers constructed knowledge about the relationship with students as well as pedagogical knowledge to help students learn, and that they newly realized the nature of science in the context of teaching science. In addition, the teaching experiences allowed for the student-teachers to develop knowledge of oneself as a teacher and knowledge about science education in schools. It was believed that the knowledge constructed personally by the pre-service teachers from their teaching experiences could be a platform for the development of teacher expertise. Implications of the present study for science teacher education and relevant research were discussed.

It will not be impossible to develop an Information Systems and Information Technologies (IS/IT) program and a curriculum that represents the true needs of the IS/IT industry until IS/IT educator, reduce the gap perception and IS/IT practitioner's perception of IS/IT knowledge and technical skills that the industry might need. This paper represents and analysis of perceptions about IS/IT knowledge and skills that IS/IT practitioners might consider important. This study is based in Korean. The findings give us a very important lesson for IS/IT academicians that their understanding about the required knowledge and skills for the IS/IT career is not in line with that of IS/IT industry. Classifies the critical knowledge/skill set according to content or domain of knowledge by means of a survey. This is conducted in accordance with what IS/IT practitioners and educators can easily relate. The survey uses this approach and includes four broad categories of critical information Systems and Information technologies (IS/IT) knowledge/skills: IS/IT technology knowledge/skills, organizational and societal knowledge/skills, interpersonal knowledge/skills, and personal trait knowledge/skills.
