  • An 12bit current-mode folding and interpolation analog to digital converter (ADC) with multiplied folding amplifiers is proposed in this paper. A current - mode multiplied folding amplifier is employed not only to reduced the number of reference current source, but also to decrease a power dissipation within the ADC. The designed ADC fabricated by a 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ n-well CMOS double metal/single poly process. The simulation result shows the power dissipation of 280㎽ with a power supply of 5V.

  • In this paper a DSP based control scheme for the interleaved boost converter is presented. The mathematical model for the interleaved boost converter operating in a continuous inductor current mode is developed. A state-space averaging technique is used for modeling the converter system. A fixed frequency sliding mode controller is designed to ensure current distribution between the two converter modules and to achieve the load voltage regulation simultaneously. Necessary and sufficient conditions, using variable structure theory, are derived for the sliding mode to exist. The range of sliding mode controller coefficients is also determined. The designed controller capability, load distribution among the individual boost cells and load voltage regulation against source and load disturbances, are demonstrated through PSIM simulation results. A real-time controller based on ADMC401 DSP is developed. Experimental results are provided to validate the proposed control scheme.

  • This study proposes a carrier-based pulse width modulation (PWM) method for leakage current reduction and neutral point (NP) current control in a three-phase three-level converter, which is a carrier-based PWM version of the previously proposed low-frequency common mode voltage PWM. Three groups of space vectors with the same common mode voltage are used. When the averaged NP current needs to be positive or negative, the specific groups are employed to produce low-frequency common mode voltages. The validity of the proposed PWM method is verified through experiments.

  • Due to the conventional half-bridge switch-mode converters for dc motor drive have been usually using unbalanced circuit topologies which generate common-mode currents through parasitic capacitors distributed between the ground and the dc motor frame such as the heat-sink of switching devices or the frame of the dc motor. This paper describes methods that cancel common-mode current generated in half-bridge switch-mode converters by using circuit balancing technique. The circuit balancing is to make the noise pickup or occurring in both conductor lines, signal and return pathes, is equal in amplitude and opposite in phase so that it will be canceled out in the ground plane. The common-mode current cancellation in the proposed converter is confirmed by experimental results.

  • In DC-DC Buck converters with average current mode control, the current loop compensator provides additional design freedom to enhance the converter current loop performance. On the other hand, the current loop circuit elements append substantial amount of complexity to not only the inner current loop but also the outer voltage loop, which makes it demanding to quantify circuit and operating parameter effects on the small-signal dynamics of such converters. Despite the difficulty, it is shown in this paper that parameter effects can be analyzed satisfactorily by using an existing small-signal model in conjunction with a newly proposed simplified alternative. As a result of the study, new insight into average current mode control is uncovered and discussed quantitatively. Measurable experimental results on a prototype averaged-current-mode-controlled Buck converter are provided to facilitate the analytical study with good correlation.

  • For boost PFC (Power Factor Correction) converters, various control methods are being studied to achieve unity power factor and low THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of AC input current. Among them, average current mode control, which controls the average value of the inductor current to follow the current reference, is the most widely used. However, nowadays, as advanced digital control becomes possible with the development of digital processors, predictive control of boost PFC converters is receiving attention. Predictive control is classified into predictive current mode control, which generates duty in advance using a predictive algorithm, and model predictive current control, which performs switching operations by selecting a cost function based on a model. Therefore, this paper simply explains the average current mode control, predictive current mode control, and model predictive current control of the boost PFC converter. In addition, current control under entire load and disturbance conditions is compared and analyzed through simulation.

  • A simulation study of a current-mode direct current (DC)-DC boost converter is presented in this paper. This converter, with a fully-integrated power module, is implemented by using bipolar complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (BiCMOS) technology. The current-sensing circuit has an op-amp to achieve high accuracy. With the sense metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) in the current sensor, the sensed inductor current with the internal ramp signal can be used for feedback control. In addition, BiCMOS technology is applied to the converter, for accurate current sensing and low power consumption. The DC-DC converter is designed with a standard 0.35 ${\mu}m$ BiCMOS process. The off-chip inductor-capacitor (LC) filter is operated with an inductance of 1 mH and a capacitance of 12.5 nF. Simulation results show the high performance of the current-sensing circuit and the validity of the BiCMOS converter. The output voltage is found to be 4.1 V with a ripple ratio of 1.5% at the duty ratio of 0.3. The sensing current is measured to be within 1 mA and follows to fit the order of the aspect ratio, between sensing and power FET.

  • This paper proposed a new partial resonant 3.PHI. AC-DC boost converter of high efficiency using lossless snubber. The proposed converter, DCM (Discontinuous Current Mode) has a merit of simple controlled circuit because the input current control discontinuously. But turned off switching loss and stress of the switching device increase when the switch turned off at the peak of current. Therefore, the paper improves efficiency by adopting the PRS$^{2}$(Partial Resonant Soft Switching) in 3.PHI. AC-DC boost converter and makes the unity power factor. The PRS$^{2}$ is reduced a current/voltage stresses of switching devices. Also, a DCMPRS$^{2}$M(Discontinuous Conduction Mode Partial Resonant Soft Switching Method) appear the current and voltage equation of this circuit. The paepr examine in a 3.PHI. AC-DC boost converter and show the result of that.
