  • Electroforming is the highly specialized use of electrodeposition for the manufacture of metal parts and basically a specialized form of electroplating. So, we can apply electrochemical system analysis for electroforming process. Electrochemical systems are concerned with the interplay between electricity and chemistry, namely the measurements of electrical quantities, such as current density, potential, and charge, and their relationship to chemical parameters. This paper based on the basic equations of electrics and electrochemical kinetics, was employed for a theoretical explanation of the current density distribution on electroforming process. We calculated current density distribution and potential distribution on cathode. Also, calculated current density distribution of vertical direction. It was shown that current density is related with distance of between anode and cathode and mass transfer process.

And make an experiment on its relation and electroformed thickness. It shows that it is useful method using FEM with multi-physics to estimate electroformed thickness.

  • It is well known that the critical current of a HTS tape has anisotropic characteristic in magnetic field. We are interested in critical current density distribution of a HTS tape. We assumed the experimentally obtained Ic-B curves do represent the local properties of HTS tapes and calculated the critical current density distribution of HTS tapes using numerical method. Also we predicted the critical current of the tapes.

  • Distribution of local critical temperature and current density in $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ (YBCO) coated conductors was analyzed using a Low-temperature Scanning Laser Microscopy (LTSLM). We prepared YBCO coated conductors of various bridge types to study the spatial distribution of critical temperature and current density in single and multi bridges. An LTSLM system was modified for a detailed two-dimensional scan without shifting of the sample. We observed a spatial distribution of the critical temperature from the bolometric response, which arises from a focused laser beam at the sample near the superconducting transition. Also we studied the relation between the critical temperature and the current density.

  • The distribution of current in the conductors influenced by the armature geometry and velocity is an important parameter for determining performance of an electromagnetic launcher(EML). the electric current in the early launching stage tends to flow on the outer surfaces of the conductors, resulting in very high local electric current density. However, the tendency for current to concentrate on the surface is driven by the velocity skin effect later in launching stage. The high current density produces high local heating and, consequently, increases armature wear which causes several defects on EML system. This paper investigates the effects of rail/armature geometry on current density distribution, launcher inductance gradient (L'), and contact force. Three geometrical parameters are used here to characterize the railgun system. These are the ratio of contact length to root length, relative position of contact leading edge to root trailing edge, and the ratio of rail overhang to the rail height. The distribution of current density, L', contact force between various configurations of the armature and the rail are analyzed and compared by using the EMAP3D program.

  • Distribution of the local critical temperature and current density in YBCO coated conductors were analyzed using Low-temperature Scanning Laser and Hall Probe Microscopy (LTSLHPM). We prepared YBCO coated conductors of various bridge types to study the spatial distribution of the critical temperature and the current density in single and multi bridges. LTSLHPM system was modified for detailed linescan or two-dimensional scan both scanning laser and scanning Hall probe method simultaneously. We analyzed the local critical temperature of single and multi bridges from series of several linescans of scanning laser microscopy. We also investigated local current density and hysteresis curve of single bridge from experimental results of scanning Hall probe microscopy.

  • The performance of an electrodialyzer for concentrating seawater is predicted by means of a computer simulation, which includes the following five steps; Step 1 mass transport; Step 2 current density distribution; Step 3 cell voltage; Step 4 NaCl concentration in a concentrated solution and energy consumption; Step 5 limiting current density. The program is developed on the basis of the following assumption; (1) Solution leakage and electric current leakage in an electrodialyzer are negligible. (2) Direct current electric resistance of a membrane includes the electric resistance of a boundary layer formed on the desalting surface of the membrane due to concentration polarization. (3) Frequency distribution of solution velocity ratio in desalting cells is equated by the normal distribution. (4) Current density i at x distant from the inlets of desalting cells is approximated by the quadratic equation. (5) Voltage difference between the electrodes at the entrance of desalting cells is equal to the value at the exits. (6) Limiting current density of an electrodialyzer is defined as average current density applied to an electrodialyzer when current density reaches the limit of an ion exchange membrane at the outlet of a desalting cell in which linear velocity and electrolyte concentration are the least. (7) Concentrated solutions are extracted from concentrating cells to the outside of the process. The validity of the computer simulation model is demonstrated by comparing the computed results with the performance of electrodialyzers operating in salt-manufacturing plants. The model makes it possible to discuss optimum specifications and operating conditions of a practical-scale electrodialyzer.

  • The formation process of a current sheet is important for solar flare from a viewpoint of a space weather prediction. We therefore derive the temporal development of the spatial and statistical distribution of electric current density distributed in a flare-producing active region to describe the formation of a current sheet. We derive time sequence distribution of electric current density by applying a nonlinear force-free approximation reconstruction to Active Region 12158 that produces an X1.6-class flare. The time sequence maps of photospheric vector magnetic field used for reconstruction are captured by a Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) onboard Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) on 10th September, 2014. The spatial distribution of electric current density in NLFFF model well reproduce observed sigmoidal structure at the preflare phase, although a layer of high current density shrinks at the postflare phase. A double power-law profile of electric current density is found in statistical analysis. This may be expected to use an indicator of the occurrence of a solar flare.

  • The method of uniforming current distribution in Hull cell are studied by using auxiliary anode, current shield bipolar electrode, and combinings bipolar electrode with current shield in order to find a way of uni-form deposition. The current density distributions are measured by each ammeter of the same inner resistance connected to divided cathode pannel respectively. The current density distributions of cathode electrode divided into five sections with 5mm width have a tendency of linear inclination, and that of twenty sections have a tendency of smoother curve than the curve of original Hull cell pannel. Their results showed lower value on the high current density portion and higher value on the low portion than that original Hull cell pannel. The current distribution in Hull cell is able to unify by using auxiliary anode, or combining bipo-lar electrode with current shield, but not efficient in using one of both individually.

  • Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) is the high efficiency fuel cell operating at high temperatures ranging from 700-1000℃. Design of the flow paths of the fuel and air in SOFCs is important to improve cell performance and prevent cell degradation. However, the uneven distribution of current density in the traditional type having one inlet and outlet causes cell degradation. In this regard, the parallel flow path with two inlet and outlets was designed and compared to the traditional type based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. To check the cell performance, hydrogen distribution, velocity distribution and current density distribution were monitored. The results validated that the parallel designs with two inlets and outlets have a higher cell performance compared to the traditional design with one inlet and outlet due to a larger reaction area. In case of uniform-type paths, more uniform current density distribution was observed with less cross-sectional variation in flow paths. In case of contracted and expanded inflow paths, significant improvement of performance and uniform current density was not observed compared to uniform parallel path. Considering SOFC cell with uniform current density can prevent cell degradation, more suitable design of SOFC cell with less cross-sectional variation in the flow path should be developed. This work can be helpful to understand the role of flow distribution in the SOFC performance.
