Effects of subsequent curing on chloride resistance and microstructure of steam-cured mortar

  • The influence of subsequent curing on the performance of fly ash contained mortar under steam curing was studied. Mortar samples incorporated with different content (0%, 20%, 50% and 70%) of Class F fly ash under five typical subsequent curing conditions, including standard curing (ZS), water curing(ZW) under 25℃, oven-dry curing (ZD) under 60℃, frozen curing (ZF) under -10℃, and nature curing (ZN) exposed to outdoor environment were implemented. The unsteady chloride diffusion coefficient was measured by rapid chloride migration test (RCM) to analyze the influence of subsequent curing condition on the resistance to chloride penetration of fly ash contained mortar under steam curing. The compressive strength was measured to analyze the mechanical properties. Furthermore, the open porosity, mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were examined to investigate the pore characteristics and phase composition of mortar. The results indicate that the resistance to chloride ingress and compressive strength of steam-cured mortar decline with the increase of fly ash incorporated, regardless of the subsequent curing condition. Compared to ZS, ZD and ZF lead to poor resistance to chloride penetration, while ZW and ZN show better performance. Interestingly, under different fly ash contents, the declining order of compressive strength remains ZS>ZW>ZN>ZD>ZF. When the fly ash content is blow 50%, the open porosity grows with increase of fly ash, regardless of the curing conditions are diverse. However, if the replacement amount of fly ash exceeds a certain high proportion (70%), the value of open porosity tends to decrease. Moreover, the main phase composition of the mortar hydration products is similar under different curing conditions, but the declining order of the C-S-H gels and ettringite content is ZS>ZD>ZF. The addition of fly ash could increase the amount of harmless pores at early age.

  • Recently, we have many problems on the process of the sludge. In past, the sewage sludge was treated by reclaimed land or thrown away in the sea. But these methods caused environmental pollution. Today, many researchers are studying various methods for reducing its volume. One of these method, this study is to reduce the moisture of sewage sludge and to solidify it using a dryer and curing equipment. In this research, we investigated about design parameter and operation condition of the equipment. The curing equipment reduces the percentage of water content from 30% of dryer to 10%. So, we have to study the curing characteristics and performance of curing equipment. For example, there are internal flow characteristics and change of the percentage of water content. And we investigated the change of data at outlet along the initial condition, temperature, humidity and air flow. Using this data, we achieve the experimental results of curing efficiency by each geometry and operating condition. And we also investigated numerical analysis of internal flow using CFD code. This research is basic study for optimal design of the curing equipment.

  • 건설 구조물에서의 고강도 콘크리트 사용은 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 그러나 고강도 콘크리트는 상대적으로 낮은 물-바인더비를 가지고 있어 초기 재령에서 수화과정에 발생하는 수화열 및 수축 등으로 인해 균열 등과 같은 문제점이 발생으로 인해 그 대책이 시급한 실정이다. 최근에 수축을 저감할 수 있는 방법으로 내부양생에 대한 관심이 대두되고 있으며 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고강도 및 하이볼륨 모르타르에 대해 인공경량골재(LWA)를 이용하여 내부양생 효과를 검증하고 여러 현장조건을 고려하여 양생조건(기중, 습윤, 수중)에 따른 압축강도 영향에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 자기수축 실험을 통해 고강도 및 플라이애시를 혼입한 하이볼륨 모르타르에서 인공경량골재 혼입률이 증가할수록 수축저감 효과가 커지는 것을 확인하였다. 양생조건에 따라 압축강도 영향은 조금씩 다른 경향을 보이고 있으며, 기중 및 습윤 조건에서는 일반적으로 강도를 증가시키고 수중조건에서는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Frefab Construction known for durable construction skill prompting high productivity in developed country is not yet settled in Korea. This situation of prefab construction results from lack of skill, specialists and quality control. In introducing skill, all equipments are thoughtlessly imported without inside eudeavor for development. Regardless of production of goods, basic study for production of goods, construction and structure is not abailable. The object of this study is curing method in the production process of PC concrete product. From change of curing temperature and curing period which would be factors of product quality in PC concrete production, and research of optimized steam curing condition from relations between curing condition and strength development, basic data of concrete steam curing method will be presented.

  • In this experiment, there is a purpose to analysis the relationship of feature of compressive strength after fixing of remarkable element under the condition of initial curing temperature. According to this experiment, we get to the fallow result. In case of highest curing temperature, 3-day-strength become high but last revelation of strength become low among the condition of initial curing temperature, the highest curing temperature have an effect on revelation of strength by the application of cumulative temperature, we can get the shape of revelation of strength.

  • This study has been carried out to examine the properties of concrete according to replacement ratio and curing method of fly ash, in order to increase utilization of it. As the result of experiments, the 7 days of early age strength presented around 20MPa, up to 20% of replacement ratio, which is almost the same strength as non-replacement. However, when the replacement ratio was 30%, the strength was decreased to 16MPa, as 20% reduction compared to the non-replacement condition. In 365 days of long term aging, the strength was 5% higher, up to 20% of the replacement ratio, due to the pozzolanic reaction of fly ash. When the replacement ratio was 30%, it presented similar strength development as the non-replacement condition. Steam curing and autoclave curing increased the short age strength, regardless of the replacement ratio of fly ash; however, they don't have an effect on increasing the 365 days of long term strength. Water curing showed high strength development after 28 days, 51.81MPa, which is around 30% higher than air curing, 38.9MPa, steam curing, 38.6MPa, and autoclave curing, 39MPa. Therefore, water curing was examined as one of the very effective curing methods for developing long term strength of concrete.

  • 거푸집의 탈형 시기는 콘크리트 구조물의 품질과 공사기간, 공사비에 영향을 주는 직접적인 요인으로 콘크리트 구조물의 안전성과 경제성을 확보하는데 중요한 요소이다. 국내 규정에서 거푸집 존치에 대한 규정을 제시하고 있으나 조기에 거푸집을 해체하여 콘크리트의 품질이 저하되고 있다. 이는 양생조건에 대한 이해가 부족하고 공사기간이 단축되길 원하기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 콘크리트의 거푸집 탈형시기에 따른 양생조건이 압축강도에 미치는 영향을 시험을 통하여 평가하였다. 연구 결과 거푸집의 12시간 후 조기 탈형은 콘크리트의 28일 압축강도를 최대 약 40% 정도까지 저하시켰으며, 거푸집을 28일 동안 장기간 존치할 경우에는 28일 표준압축강도 대비 약 7%의 강도저하를 가져왔다. 결론으로 본 논문에서는 양생온도를 등가재령으로 고려하여 거푸집 해체 시기에 따른 콘크리트의 압축강도 추정식을 제안하였다. 이 제안식은 현장에서 거푸집 제거 후의 콘크리트 압축강도 평가에 활용될 수 있다.

  • In this study, the clay samples collected in the area Mokpo carry out laboratory soil test. Under three different curing $temperature-20^{\circ}C,\;50^{\circ}C,\;80^{\circ}C$ and 4 terms of curing day -1day, 7days, 14days, 40days for each, the remolded and reconsolidated samples had been made. To find out an aging effects and geotechnical characteristics between undisturbed samples and reconsolidated samples, laboratory tests were preformed. In the results, it was found that mechanical properties of undisturbed natural samples were similar to high temperature reconsolidation clay. The curing temperature influence on simulating aging effect more than the curing day does and the best curing condition are $80^{\circ}C$, 27days.
