It is essential to reduce the Infra-red signature for increasing ship's survivability in ship design stage. However the ship's IR signature is quite sensitive to the maritime and atmosphere. Therefore, it is very important to select the marine meteorological data to be applied to the signature analysis. In this study, we selected the three meteorological sample sets from the population of the Korea Meteorological Administration's marine environment data in 2017. These samples were selected through the two-dimensional stratified sampling method, taking into account the geopolitical threats of the Korean peninsula and the effective area of the buoy. These sample sets were applied to three naval ships classified by their tonnage, and then the IR signature analysis was performed to derive the Contrast Radiant Intensity (CRI) values. Based on the CRI values, the validity of each sample set was determined by comparing Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF), and Probability Density Function (PDF). Also, we checked the degree of scattering in each sample set and determined the efficiency of analysis time and cost according to marine meteorological sample sets to confirm the possibility of a probabilistic method. Through this process, we selected the standard for optimization of marine meteorological sample for ship IR signature analysis. Based on this optimization sample, by applying probabilistic method to the management of IR signature for naval ships, the robust design is possible.

NOMA (Non-orthogonal multiple Access) system has been focused on the next generation cellular system for higher spectral efficiency. However, this requires user scheduling as the NOMA system is a multi-user system which accesses simultaneously. There are two representative scheduling schemes, proportionate scheduling (FP) and cumulative distribution function (CFD) scheduling. The PF scheduling is applied, the cell edge user is hard to obtain a transmit opportunity. Recently, CDF scheduling is obviously noted that it offers the same possibility of transmission for a user regardless of the location in a cell. We consider an uplink NOMA system with CDF scheduling, and obtain the channel access probabilities, the outage probabilities of the system with different number of users and different kinds of weights through simulation. The results indicate that the likelihood of each user accessing the channel is the same and the probability of failure decreases as the number of users increases. We found that the effect of the probability of failure is negligible as the weight of the cell edge user increases.

The degree distribution of the plant-pollinator network was identified by analyzing the data in the ecosystem and reproduced by a model of the growing bipartite mutualistic networks. The degree distribution of pollinator shows power law or stretched exponential distribution, while plant usually shows stretched exponential distribution. In the growth model, the plant and the pollinator are selected with probability Pp and PA=1-Pp, respectively. The number of incoming links for the plant and the pollinator is lp and lA, respectively. The probability that the link of the plant selects the pollinator of the existing network given as $A_{k_i}=k^{{\lambda}_A}_i/{\sum}_i\;k^{{\lambda}_A}_i$, and the probability that the pollinator selects the plant is $P_{k_i}=k^{{\lambda}_p}_i/{\sum}_i\;k^{{\lambda}_p}_i$. When the nonlinear growth index is 𝛌X=1 (X=A or P), the degree distribution follows a power law, and if 0≤𝛌X<1, the degree distribution follows a stretched exponential distribution. The cumulative degree distributions of plants and pollinators of 14 empirical plant-pollinators included in Interaction Web Database were calculated. A set of parameters (PA,PP,lA,lP) that reproduces these cumulative degree distributions and a growth index 𝛌X (X=A or P) were obtained. We found that animal takes very heterogenous connections, whereas plant takes a more flexible connection network.

The high-altitude and mobility characteristics of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have made them a key element of new radio systems, particularly because they can exceed the limits of terrestrial networks. However, at high altitudes, UAVs can be significantly affected by intercell interference at a high line-of-sight probability. To mitigate this drawback, we propose an algorithm that selects the optimal beam to reduce interference and maximize transmission efficiency. The proposed algorithm comprises two steps: constructing a user-location-based fingerprint database according to the user types presented herein and cooperative beam selection. Simulations were conducted using cellular cooperative downlink systems for analyzing the performance of the proposed method, and the signal-to-interference-plus-noise cumulative distribution function and spectral efficiency cumulative distribution function were used as performance analysis indicators. Simulation results showed that the proposed algorithm could reduce the effect of interference and increase the performance of the desired signal. Moreover, the algorithm could efficiently reduce overheads and system cost by reducing the amount of resources required for information exchange.

Large steel industries have time-varying nonlinear loads such as electric arc furnaces. These nonlinear loads generate harmonic currents and create distortions on the sinusoidal voltage of the power system. The main objective of the static var compensator is to maintain the rms voltage at the point of common coupling within the limit. In this research, harmonic mitigation studies were conducted with and without the SVC, and time-varying harmonics were evaluated according to the international harmonic standards (IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE Std. 519) using a cumulative probabilistic approach.
In this paper, a sequential test procedure is defined by using cumulative sum (CUSUM) of statistics. The properties as well as the efficiency of the CUSUM test are studied in comparison with the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT). It was shown that, the operating characteristic function and the average sample numbrer can be derived by Wald and Wiener process approximations. Also it was shown that the statistics used in the CUSUM test is determined to provide asymtotically equivalent efficiency compared to the SPRT. The efficiency of the CUSUM test and the SPRT are cpmpared by an example for some limited number of cases in the exponential distribution.
In many cases, the quality of a product is determined by several correlated quality variables. Control charts have been used for a long time widely to control the production process and to quickly detect the assignable causes that may produce any deterioration in the quality of a product. Numerical switching performances of multivariate cumulative sum control chart for simultaneous monitoring all components in the dispersion matrix ${\Sigma}$ under multivariate normal process $N_p({\underline{\mu}},{\Sigma})$ are considered. Numerical performances were evaluated for various shifts of the values of variances and/or correlation coefficients in ${\Sigma}$. Our computational results show that if one wants to quick detect the small shifts in a process, CUSUM control chart with small reference value k is more efficient than large k in terms of average run length (ARL), average time to signal (ATS), average number of switches (ANSW).

The current research focuses on the seismic vulnerability assessment of typical Southern Europe buildings, based on processing of a large set of observational damage data. The presented study constitutes a sequel of a previous research. The damage statistics have been enriched and a wider damage database (178578 buildings) is created compared to the one of the first presented paper (73468 buildings) with Damage Probability Matrices (DPMs) after the elaboration of the results from post-earthquake surveys carried out in the area struck by the 7-9-1999 near field Athens earthquake. The dataset comprises buildings which developed damage in several degree, type and extent. Two different parameters are estimated for the description of the seismic demand. After the classification of damaged buildings into structural types they are further categorized according to the level of damage and macroseismic intensity. The relative and the cumulative frequencies of the different damage states, for each structural type and each intensity level, are computed and presented, in terms of damage ratio. Damage Probability Matrices (DPMs) are obtained for typical structural types and they are compared to existing matrices derived from regions with similar building stock and soil conditions. A procedure is presented for the classification of those buildings which initially could not be discriminated into structural types due to restricted information and hence they had been disregarded. New proportional DPMs are developed and a correlation analysis is fulfilled with the existing vulnerability relations.

This paper analyzed the delay characteristics of speech packets in virtual cellular network(VCN). The probability distribution of packet delay is obtained using the markov chain model when periodic speech packets are transmitted by slotted-ALOHA protocol. The effects of probility of capture and retransmission policy on the performance were also analyzed. At first, the probability cumulative function of packet delay is calculated from the probability of capture as a function of location of mobile terminal. In order to investigate the effects of backoff delay, we defined a parameter NPr, where N is the period (frame size) of the speech packets and Pr is the retransmission probability for each speech packet. We also obtained the 1% outage delay for various frame size N.

In this paper, we investigate decode-and-forward (DF) relaying systems with a direct link between the source and the destination node. The objective of this paper is to determine the better relaying strategy between 3-hop DF relaying and dual-hop DF relaying with the best relay selection. Assuming Rayleigh fading channels, we present closed-form outage probability of the 3-hop relaying and the dual-hop relaying, respectively, and compare the performances by numerical investigation. Numerical results show that if the channel is poor, the outage performance of the 3-hop relaying is better than the dual-hop relaying.
