Tourism and recreation spots in Korea have been developed metropolitan cities-oriented that facility construction has too much importance in local tourist site development more than satisfaction and experience. Tourism hardly seems to play its role as a motive power even in locals where tourism occupies much in their economic development. Therefore, the ministry of culture & tourism has introduced a plan to discover cultural and tourism resources as a development alternative which handles theme-ability and specialization. However, most projects of local tourism resources developed since 1999 have resulted similar features comparing to previous and existing tourist spots. And the main objectives of this paper have not been realized very well. This research hence forth suggests a program-based model development in tourism resources, with a case study of Gokun-gugok, one of the historical and cultural sites and is located in Hwachon-gun, Gangwon Province. Main points include: Since the Gokun-gugok landscape has been undermined and been loosed the traditional cultural value due to the road development, this study intends to plan to make the adventure of tourism destination including restoring the site as a cultural place. The Gokun-gugok site needs to develop combining various types of tours and adventures with instructive and educational programs to meet the visitors' needs. This research also intends to precede a development plan based on harmonizing natural, historical and cultural assets of the Gokun-gugok with facility maintains and tourism development. Meanwhile, the study stresses on realizing development of tourism resources categorizing programs by seasonality, visitor's economic class, and visit duration. Asa consequence, the research presents a "Culture & Tourism Academy" which deals with these types of adventure programs and informative educations. To assess feasibility of the development plan in terms of economy, environment and policy, the research conducted the site inspection and examined the site's surroundings, land properties and inundation. 145,000 square meters have been extracted as a feasible development area out of total 392,500 square meters. Finally, the study segmentizes target markets basedon the result of the survey on visitors and local residents. The more segmentized markets employ facilities according to their traditional characters.

One of the promising sectors of the economy today is tourism in all forms and types. The multiplier effect of tourism is huge: the income received from one tourist exceeds the amount of money spent by him at the location on the purchase of services and goods in the range from 1.5 to 4 times. Countries known as world centers of tourism have made it a state policy, taking on the functions of forecasting, coordinating and controlling. The architectural monuments of the city historical structure are a pretty resource for tourism. Cultural tourism as a type of sociocultural human activity is one of the popular and mass types of tourism. The number of people wishing to get acquainted with historical and cultural sights is growing every year. In the cultural aspect, tourism has an impact on the spiritual and material spheres of human life, his way of life, value system, social behavior. Thus, the main task of the study is to analyze the features of the architecture of tourism and tourist complexes. As a result of the study, current trends and prerequisites for the architecture of tourism and tourist complexes were investigated.

The purpose of this study was to get some pieces of prior information to eventually develop high value-added fashion cultural products design using local cultural resources, to promote the cultural tourism festival. For this purpose, this study is carried out the investigation of cultural product stores and visitors' questionnaire survey. The subjects of this study were festivals which were selected as cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from 2000 to 2008. Of them, six festivals were finally selected but food festival was excluded. The results of this study were as follows; First, the store survey was conduced to analyze the situation of the products of cultural tourism festival. The most frequent product was accessories. And a T-shirt was found to be sold every festival probably because it was the most popular item and basic item which people could buy without burden. While the most diverse kinds of products were found in the Andong, the Jinju and Gangjin were found not to develop various products. In the design motif used for cultural products, most products did not use festival or local image. The highest use of the festival and local image was found in Gangjin and Muju. The Andong and Chungju were found to sell very common products buying anywhere rather than products using local cultural resources or image. In the material of cultural products, most products use metal. And In the price of cultural products, 10,000-30,000 won was found highest. Second, the purchase conditions of cultural tourism festival visitors were examined. The visiting goal and companion of visitors was found to vary with the type of cultural tourism festival. The types of visitors were also found to have an effect on the choice of items in the purchase of cultural products sold in the festival. Only one third of respondents responded buying one and more cultural products. The purchase rate was found high in the festival where cultural product items were various and there were many products symbolizing festival or region. The most purchased item was a mobile phone hanger and the amount of purchasing cultural products was 10,000-30,000 won. The reason not to purchase cultural products was dissatisfaction with utility, originality, possibility of a present, symbolism, and price. The most important attribute in the purchase of cultural products was design, followed by symbolism, price, originality, and innovation. The highly preferred product group included clothing, miscellaneous goods, and accessories. Specifically, T-shirt was found highest. Based on these research results, it was found that the design strategy for the cultural products development should consider both regional and festival images. The items and designs of the cultural products should reflect visitors' characteristics and the price zone should be varied.

Many various kinds of tourism resources have been distributed along the Nakdong river basin. Previous researches have focused mainly on environmental studies, including water quality control, industrial use of water, biodiversity, etc, with little research done in the field of tourism studies. Central to this study, therefore, is the identification and analysis, from the perspective of cultural tourism, of the area's distribution and characteristics of cultural properties registered by the MOCT. Review of related literature reveals : 1) spatial range bound with the jurisdiction of the river basin like DREO and NRBEO ; 2) analytical subjects limited to cultural properties designated by the three different administrative units of government, city and province. Along with the DREO's predominance over the NRBEO in the total number of cultural properties, the result finds that two cities, Andong and Gyeongju of Gyeongbuk are assigned ownership of most of the cultural properties under the jurisdiction of DREO, while Gyeongnam that of most of the ones under the NRBEO. However, those findings suggest the simple number of cultural properties with no significant level of importance and rarity value reflected. Therefore, future studies need to develop quantified modelling keeping cultural variables in mind and create cultural indices of the competitiveness of the local governments.
The purpose of this study was to identify development strategies of high value-added cultural products in order to help promote Jeonnam cultural tourism festivals. In order to achieve this purpose, we carried out a market survey of cultural products sold in cultural tourism festivals held successfully within the Jeonnam area. The subjects of this study were local festivals which were labeled as cultural tourism festivals by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism from 2000 to 2008. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, a store survey was conducted to analyze the categories of products on offer. As a result, the most frequent product was accessories (46.2%), followed by clothing and miscellaneous goods (25.2%), ceramic products (14.8%), interior decoration products (9.1%), and stationery (4.6%). Secondly, in the design motif used for cultural products, most products did not contain festival or local images. Cultural products with festival images made up 47.2% of the range, while only 2.3% of products on offer contained local imagery. The remaining 50.3% of cultural products for sale did not use festival or local images. Finally, in terms of materials used, most products used metal (36.7%), followed by textiles (32.9%), ceramic (13.8%), wood (6.2%), plastic (6.2%), paper (3.6%), and leather (0.2%). For price range, 52.4% of product were equal to or below 10,000 won, followed by 33.1% between 10,000-30,000 won. The results of this study showed that the cultural products of Jeonnam festivals lacked symbolism of the region or festival itself. Furthermore, items and the price ranges were not diverse enough. A possible solution would be to address this short coming, but more importantly, design a marketing and commercial strategy tailored towards the promotion of cultural products which contain both regional and festival imageries.

The globe-trotting trend has been converted from tourism for the simple purposes of sightseeing and enjoyment to a form of learning and practicing the more specialized contents by directly participation. Traditional cultural resources have sufficient potential as culture and tourism assets that fit this kind of trend. Therefore, building proper tourist resources for their application has become a very urgent and important matter. To make masterpiece tourism packages through combined services of traditional cultural resources, it is necessary for operators to ponder diverse methods that can be used to develop various experience programs and conserve traditional cultural properties by continuously generating profits. The major results of this research are as follows. Firstly, this study proposes plans for unified tourist information and combined services of traditional cultural resources based on ubiquitous IT. Secondly, it is ascertained that the organization of combined operational consultative groups and the improvement of operator' capability are required to execute combined services of traditional cultural resources. Thirdly, we propose business plans to generate profits in both product aspect and network aspect.
According to tourism resources in Kyonggi province, tourist behavior was dramatically different in that tourists utilizing natural resources were mainly interested in static tourism activities and sight seeing activities while tourist using socio-cultural resources preferred with dynamic tourism activities and relaxation tourism. Therefore, the objectives of reconstruction should be adjusted depending on types of tourism resources (i.e. natural and socio-cultural resources) or natural intensity as well as the development goal of recreational tourism. In contrast, historic and cultural resources surrounded with natural resources showed higher revisit rate, and was conceived as better touring site than individual resource because of historical people, traditional custom, natural sight seeing, etc. Therefore, it is believed that proper utilization of natural resources will increase revisit rate and create new conception as a famous touring site.
