We made a Korean white porcelain or Joseon Baekja jar and based on the raw materials used and reproductions of each stage, we aimed to compare and analyze the physicochemical changes of the raw materials such as clay at each manufacturing stage, as well as identify the characteristics and correlations. Although the basic main components of clay and glaze material are similar, their texture becomes denser in the process of bisque firing pottery (Chobeol-pyeon) and glaze firing pottery (Jaebeol-pyeon), and we confirmed that in addition to the tendency of increasing vitrification, low-temperature minerals such as mica and illite gradually disappeared, while high-temperature minerals such as cristobalite were newly created. This phenomenon has also been verified by the rapid decrease in absorption rate while the change in specific gravity was small. In addition, the color was greatly affected by the firing atmosphere, and the yellow-red chromaticity of the raw materials was higher during bisque firing but showed a rapidly decreasing characteristic during glaze firing. The value of magnetic susceptibility, which is related to iron (Fe) component, showed a tendency to decrease in glaze firing pottery. CT images were confirmed as a method that can indirectly estimate the change in the material properties of the object step-by-step for the entire object. In conclusion, the study of manufacturing stages of reproduction can provide basic data for scientific research on the estimation of porcelain and pottery making technology and changes in raw materials.

AThe studies on ceramic preservation have been conducted widely in various institutions such as national/ public museums and research labs as well as the excavation institutions and university museums. Although there are some differences in preservation methodologies and materials used across the institutions, the variation is minimal. Specifically, epoxy resin is mostly used for ceramic restoration for its high cohesiveness, low contraction and high strength although there are some variations in for Ceramic Preservation. The synthetic resin type used according to the type of damage in the ceramic. However, the yellowing or the change of color across the time after the restoration is the weakness of epoxy resin. In this study, we aim to develop a material which minimizes this yellowing of epoxy resin while enhancing its cohesiveness and strength as well as other physical properties. We made the new material to have similar properties with those used widely for the ceramic restoration, such as EPO-TEK301$^{(R)}$, L30$^{(R)}$, XTR-311$^{(R)}$ through comparative experiments. The cohesiveness of the newly developed resin was improved to 2.51(MPa), which is similar level of XTR-311$^{(R)}$ of the 2.30(MPa) but about 2x higher than the other resins EPO-TEK301$^{(R)}$, L30$^{(R)}$ (1.21 and 1.81 (MPa), respectively). Especially, the experiment on yellowing shows that the existing resins show the range of color change at 10~25(${\Delta}E^*ab$), but the new low yellowing epoxy resin has the color change value at 8.3 (${\Delta}E^*ab$), the value lowering the yellowing effect to 1 to 3 times of the existing epoxy resin, thereby solving the issue of generating sense of differences due to change of color or yellowing.
We have investigated the suitable measuring method and condition on the hardness testing for the earthenwares excavated from Poongnap mud castle in Hanseong Baekje period. The earthenwares which used on hardness testing have been classified according to Mohs hardness and external form and color. The Ultrasonic and Equotip testing method have used to the hardness testing on the surface of the earthenwares and the Rockwell and Micro-vickers testing methods have used to the hardness testing on the cross section of the earthenwares. As the results, the two methods applied to the surface of the earthenwares were very hard on the precise measurement and the measuring values were incompatible with the tendency classified according to Mohs hardness and external form and color. On the testing for the cross section of earthenware, the Rockwell-superficial hardness testing method was more suitable for the soft texture earthenware and highest reproducibility of the measuring value obtained at the test load and indentor are 15kgf and 1/16 “iron ball, respectively. The Micro-Vickers hardness testing method was suitable for the hard texture earthenware and highest reproducibility and accuracy of the measuring value obtained at the test load is 100gf. This results show strong possibility of progress on the classifying and comparing study for hardness of the earthenware and therefore active studies are expected on the field.
In this study, the degradation properties by temperature stress of $Araldite^{(R)}$ rapid-curing epoxy resin used for inorganic cultural heritages, was identified. The tensile and tensile shear strength of durability decreased for 12,624 hours at temperatures of $40{\sim}60^{\circ}C$. In terms of stability of external stress and temperature, the slow-curing epoxy was superior to the rapid-curing epoxy, and cultural heritage conservation plans should therefore consider the strength and stress properties of restoration materials. Color differences increased for 12,624 hours at temperatures of $40{\sim}60^{\circ}C$, and glossiness decreased. Both color and gloss stability were weak, which necessitates the improvement of optical properties. Thermal properties (weight loss, decomposition temperature, and glass transition temperature) of adhesives are linked to mechanical properties. Interfacial properties of the adherend and water vapor transmission rates of adhesives are linked to performance variation. For porous media (ceramics, brick, and stone), isothermal and isohumid environments are important. For outdoor artifacts on display in museums, changes in physical properties by exposure to varying environmental conditions need to be minimized. These results can be used as baseline data in the study of the degradation velocity and lifetime prediction of rapid-curing epoxy resin for the restoration of cultural heritages.

Noerok is a green pigment made of mineral used the Gachil(priming coat) of wooden architecture in Chosun Dynasty era. It has been reported that various Noerok are discovered in Janggimyeon, Pohang. In this study, The Noerok from two places is compared and discussed. Noerok in the two places has blulsh-green to green color, and it is similar to their occurrences on fracture filling, vein and dike on outcrop. However, there are differences between two sites according to its petrological feature, mineral composition and geochemistry. While the Noeseongsan sample is mostly celadonite, Gwangjeongsan samples are characterized by celadonite with varying contents of cristobalite, tridymite, feldspar, along with some vitrified contents. In terms of major elements, the amount of $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3$, MgO and $K_2O$ decreases linearly with increasing $SiO_2$, whereas $Fe_2O_3$ is linearly proportional to MgO. In summary, Noerok in the study areas can be classified into 4 types (type 1, type 2, type 3-1, type 3-2) base on color, mineral composition, elemental composition, and vitrification grade.

The Usuki Stone Buddha Statues in Japan are carved on mainly dark gray welded lapilli tuff accompanied by lenticular fiamme. This rock is composed of matrix which contains feldspar and opaque minerals with some phenocrysts of quartz and feldspar. The matrix is slight to highly welded. The statues have been weathered and weakened by salt and freezing of water. To enhance the mechanical properties of the rock, consolidants and water repellents were applied. The absorption ratio of the rock was highly decreased after the treatment of the water repellents, the consolidant OH 100, as well. Ultrasonic velocity revealed similarly higher values in the treated rock by KSE 300 and OH 100, compared to non-treated rock. KSE 300, especially, highly increased the Equotip surface hardness. All studied consolidants and water repellents were found to change the original color of the stone. SNL, specifically, resulted the significant change in color. In addition, KSE 300 were observed to improve resistance to weathering such as microcrack and fracture through freezing-thawing test after treatment.

Through scientific analysis, this study identified the material characteristics of metal foil decorating the border line and knotting of the National Folklore Cultural Heritage 'Pouch for the Sutra Embroidered with a Sun and Moon Design'. Through Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy results, it was estimated that silver (Ag) and sulfur (S) were present in the metal foil, and silver leaf was also attached to the medium. S may discolor Ag from yellow to black depending on its concsentration and contact time. Yellow color could not be identified in metal foil at present. But there existed an example of the preparation of a gold-colored flat silver thread; therefore, further research is needed to estimate the original color. The lamella was reddish brown on the back. Aluminum, silicon, and iron were also detected and were the main components found in red soil. This is believed to be the red adhesive in traditional flat gold thread and is considered to be an adhesive-related component of the metal foil. From the gas chromatography mass spectrometry results, the adhesive component was confirmed to be animal glue.
This study was conducted in order to look for how to create added values by combining cultural contents with other industries effectively. For this purpose, we examined in what directions the tourist industry, which is the main industry of the Jeju Special Self-governing Province, should be combined with cultural contents. It is widely admitted that cultural contents can create various added values, but there have been insufficient efforts to develop cultural contents and link them to added values. In particular, local self-governing bodies' understanding of cultural contents is seriously poor. In order to improve this, we need to have appropriate perception of cultural contents and to change our idea for effective linking of cultural contents to added values. Thus, this study proposed that the development of cultural contents is achieved not simply through the development of contents but through the combination of various methods including the establishment of product development strategies, the establishment of tourist program development strategies, and the integration of slogans.

It is used for the epoxy resin, a mixture of various fillers conservation of cracks of the stone cultural heritage. Such as conservation treatment is need to for long-term conservation. However, field research and experiments on the conservation treatment results when included 54 cases of talc filler was confirmed that the damage, such as discoloration and cracks. The field research is talc was used to determine whether the reports and conservator interviews conducted, microscopy, ICP analysis of the samples collected from the field site. Experiments is color difference measurement and Ultrasonic measurement were arried out, and artificial weathering tests to investigate the effect of talc. As a result, lower the property of matter of the samples containing the talc. Therefore, we propose that the selection process is not allowed to use talc as the filler of stone powder filler cracks is conservation treatment.
