  • Since the development of patterns using tessellation is applied to a wide range of fields such as clothing, architecture, environment, and products, etc. and its expression principle is also found in various fields such as mathematics and science, etc. However, this pattern is mostly used as a math material with little studies on fashion and culture. In addition, it is thought that Korean traditional culture products need more various and modern design development methods and pattern through preliminary investigation which is simple copy of traditional items, simple copy of Korean Alphabet, Chinese character, and folk paintings. Therefore, it will present the method to make more design cases using Tessellation. Tessellation that combines mathematics and art will be the infinite form of designing of designers as well as creative training way to understand the composition principles of old culture and to raise sense of modern design. Tessellation of regular triangle, regular square, and regular hexagon was performed on the patterns which have meaning of wealth and prosperity of Korean traditional patterns. As the concrete method, first, each side of the regular triangle is developed symmetrically with patterns of fish, turtle, and cicadas. Second, rotational movement after symmetry movement about middle point of one side ${\times}$ 1 symmetry movement about middle point ${\times}$ 1 using crane and cloud, of the regular triangle was performed. Third, the regular square was tessellated parallel movement ${\times}$ 2 with "Da(multi)" and dragon pattern as the source image. Fourth, the sitting tiger was tessellated with symmetry movement about middle point ${\times}$ 2 and parallel movement ${\times}$ 1. Fifth, three bat patterns are tessellated by again rotational movement of two sides after rotational movement of one side and rotational movement of the other side. In addition, It developed traditional culture product design of the scarf, umbrella, aprons, neckties.

  • The idea of identification have become a subject of discussion ever since the time man started to contemplate on the meaning and value of his being. However, the concept of identity defined by theorists such as sociologists or cultural historians influence the consumption pattern of the major consumer group, in conjunction with the advent of the mass consuming age. The conflict and mutual realization among variable generations and residential areas of different. consumer levels profoundly affect the formation of the identity of the new generation and the role and experience of women. This series of transit is progressing more rapidly due to the characteristic situation of the expiration of a millenium. Advertising strives to control our interests and ideas on the products we choose to use and affects our identity by manipulating images of successful people. People tend to be influenced more significantly by the mass-culture than by people around them, such as family or friends, in rendering their self?identity; in which process, adopting the identity produced by mass-media and advertising. Such identity is conducted partly of the product identity and the stereotyped image suggested by mass-media. This study bears significance in the attempt to provide actual data and expand the realm of ideas and planning in future advertising through demonstrative analysis of self-identity creative in Korean TV advertising.

  • This study was aimed to develop ume flower image into a competitive fashion culture product image by reinterpreting the image in modern terms, manufacturing patterns and applying them to various items. In terms of method, ume flower petal was used as a motive and developed into a pattern, using Adobe Illustrator 10, a computer design program. Based on the symbolic image and realist form of ume flower, three new basic motives of new figurative image were set using form omission, simplification, overlapping, repetition and graphic elements. Each motive developed transformed patterns through the change, transformation, combination of colors. The repetitive unit of each motive set expressed geometrical patterns and combination of flower patterns using pattern repetition and $45^{\circ}$ repetition technique in combination with the check arrangement using quadrangle, and set the direction of design that would fit for each item of fashion culture products. Also, consistency and practicality were sought in the goods planning composition of each item by applying motive pattern results to the fashion culture goods, such as neckties, scarves, T-shirts that can be consumed in everyday life. It seems that more creative culture goods including ume flowers will be developed by seeing our own cultural elements as well as flower patterns like ume flower with modern trends.

  • Current perception of games is divided. On the one hand, they are criticized as harmful entertainment due to their violent content and addictive nature, and on the other hand, they are evaluated positively as products of a creative industry that offers alternative, interactive entertainment. Based on the latter, this paper will reevaluate the positive element of such games in relation to the museum, the canon of historical and cultural evaluation. The analysis on game culture introduction to the museums consists of three categories: the practical application that includes educational, communicational, and promotional purposes; the approval of games as industrial assets and their extensive cultural influence; and the indirect acceptance of art works using games. A panoramic view of game culture development would promote research on the link between game culture and museums; furthermore, it would establish a basis for an introduction of game culture in academia and predict the future of the industry.

  • Creativity is a important keyword for users as well as for main design organization who needs it. But little attention has been given to the aspect of user's creativity, also there has been a few attempt to apply it into design development until now. Nowadays in design areas, user's experiences and actions are changing the passive states receiving meanings into the active states creating meanings voluntarily. It is resonable to suppose that creative stage is important for users and they have the possibility of new ideas of uses and creating new productions. User's experiences of objects includes that of being formed or supported previously and that of voluntary interpretations acquired for himself, which it may be the possibilities predicted in design process or unknown user's action areas. It is likely that creative use process by themselves are the actions applied and deviated from usability and function by main design organization, also creative productions are arranged and made by users. These have a scope of examination and research in probability that is occurs frequently in user. In this research, approaching with a term, 'User gestures', User gestures are the characteristic action areas based on user's voluntary behaviors, where are revealed a unessential and non-operational function as a action itself and various transformation and creation of products as a outcome of action. This fact proves clearly that user gestures have a worth of alive spectrum to observe aspects of user culture and could be a attractive approach to seek easily new design concept for designer and developer. A further direction of this study will be following areas, Ethnography methods research of user gestures, Cultural research to phenomenon of user design and UGSBD(User gesture scenario based design) research. And it seems probable that they are applied in design development as follows, User initiative customization products, User participatory recycling products and creativity-experience design.

  • Game industry, one of cultural-content industry which is considered as a typical knowledge-based industry and creative industry, is not like the overseas expansion of traditional manufacture, and has different strategy and performance of export expansion through product or project-based strategy. Therefore, it should be approached by each content unit, and necessary to look at the factors that make their decision makings of foreign market entry vary. This study focuses on discovering creativity, absorptive capacity and strategic orientation(market orientation and innovation orientation) which affect the difference of distribution's decision making of entry into foreign market in game industry This paper examined 252 cases of online games in order to investigate creativity, absorptive capacity and strategic orientations for each foreign market and what entry type(among licensing, joint distribution, exclusive distribution) they chose according to the products developed in team level. This helps us analyze the factors affecting market orientation and innovation orientation in the perspectives of creativity and absorptive capacity in comprehensive way, and notice the phenomena which use different foreign distribution strategy though there are company incorporated abroad and their results. This study supplements the limit of the existing Resource-Based View, Resource-Dependent View, and traditional international business theories such as Transaction Cost Theory or OLI Paradigm(Eclectic Framework), and proves how company could reduce asymmetry of uncertainty and information in creative industry and whether they accomplish successful overseas expansion according to strategic orientations.

  • We can discover some facts that vernacular design products with a property of volunteer culture coexist with ready-made products as an useful objects in the post-industrial society. Currently, few attempts had been made at studies of the vernacular design objects with understanding cultural context in post-industrial society, it is necessary to illuminate the relationships between the user with a role of design producer and the product viewed in culturally. In chapter 2, by examining documentary, t have been understood the definition, apprehensions, attributes linking creative use's culture with vernacular design culture, and distinctions between vernacular design and main stream design system. In chapter 3, by verifying products of everyday street and construction site, have been investigated the public characters and the differences compared with the past. In chapter 4, as a subtle example, have been analyzed design feathers and cultural characters of the products which children and infants culture generates by reflecting the socio-economic backgrounds and the culture from 60c and 70c to now according to the phases of the times. In conclusion, first, it seems quite probably that all of artificial objects exist a state of ready-made but that is not appropriate to correspond with user's whole behaviors. supplementally, it causes the phenomenon of vernacular design products. Secondly, it is reasonable to suppose that such main-stream design system and vernacular design go forward continually and crossly with coexistent relationships as high culture and sub culture. Third, three concepts: long-life design, ecology design and recycling revealed in vernacular design are useful distinguishing marks for the future design directions, moreover instant-response, fast and flexible process, three distinctions have a possibility of alternative process which can overcome the control-based process such as the systematic approach and the planning MTG in present. Finally, in children and infants culture, vernacular design products have changed the pure style products in the past into the modified techno playing products in the present. These should De a substitute product that supplyes variousness to ready-made design system and a design culture that maintains continually as a independent culture.

  • As the globalization become the main stream in our world, there is no exception also on the cultural section. And we are En the midst of this rapid transition. In the case of advertising market, we opened to those agencies in abroad in the early year of 1990 and now completely opened. On this thesis, the multinational corporation advertising was studied and researched by empirical case study. The main topic is the value expression in the advertising creativity viewed on the cultural level. The multinational corporations that have an eminent, powerful brands produces much of goods wend widely with their powerful brands and extend their marketing activities to abroad. For example, those non-alcoholic beverages, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, electronic appliances, vehicles, sports shoes, clothes are their main exports, and they broaden the product category, market size to the global market. They also use an expert marketing skill accumulated for a long time. The advertising activities is one of the useful method to extend their global market abroad enhacing continuously brand value. And much of the multinational corporation's advertising are suspected of negative effects that advertisements works on a tool which curies so called uniformed ideology - various ruling ideology - with commercial messages. These advertising affect an developing country's moral value, life style, social value, and others. And they weaken those developing country's unique tradition, culture by putting their own ideology. Those who have a critical position on the advertising activities have been careful in judging it's effects. The result of this study which of the value system is expressed in the multinational corporation's advertisements are; First, the self - esteem value is classified by western value, and it was founded out much more in the domestic corporation's advertisements then multinational ones. Second, the security value system is classified by western value system, and it's outcome was much the same as former one. • Industrial heritage artifacts may include the industrial products, technologies and infrastructures that have contributed to modernization beginning with the Industrial Revolution. The history of our industrial heritage spans 50 to 150 years and can be characterized by taking into account the site and the technology. This paper analyzes 13 precedents in Japan, Canada, and the United States in terms of these concerns, with focus on the reuse of abandoned mines as industrial heritage. Field surveys and interviews about each abandoned mine were used to obtain historical records and material. The results describe progress in three phases (1) recognizing phase, (2) organizing phase, and (3) maintenance management phase. A proper methodology for reuse is necessary to ensure the authenticity of the abandoned mine, particularly in the face of poor tourism-oriented approaches. As a result of analyzing the 13 cases, we determined that the following principles should be considered during the reuse process. Firstly, reuse of abandoned mines should not be compulsory but should be a spontaneous process and especially, should be carried out by inhabitants. Secondly, education and real experiences in the abandoned mine should be used to ive visitors a feeling of authenticity. Thirdly, creative remodeling methods can be used to enhance the abandoned mine's facilities and the site. Finally, historic and new functions should be the focus of the revitalization. Because this paper mainly focused on 13 precedents, there are likely more diverse cases. However, the conclusions of this report have practical value for reuse of abandoned mines and can be used in establishing methods for reusing Korean abandoned mines as industrial heritage.
