The magnetic alloys of Cu-Fe ($Cu_{50}Fe_{50},\;Cu_{80}Fe_{20}\;and\;Cu_{90}Fe_{10}$) were prepared by a mechanical alloying method and their structural and magnetic behaviors were examined by X-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectra. The magnetization curves did not distinctly show the saturation at 70 kOe for the concentrated alloys of $Cu_{80}Fe_{20}\;and\;Cu_{90}Fe_{10}$. The Mossbauer spectrum of $Cu_{80}Fe_{20}$ at room temperature shows one Lorentzian line of the paramagnetic phase, whereas the Mossbauer spectrum of $Cu_{90}Fe_{10}$ consists of sextet Lorentzian line at room temperature and a centered doublet line. The Mossbauer spectra of $Cu_{90}Fe_{10}$ measured in the temperature ranges from 13 to 295 K, implies that $Cu_{90}Fe_{10}$ to consists of two magnetic phases. One superimposed sextet corresponds to the ferromagnetic iron in Cu and the other one indicates the superparamagnetic iron rich phase.

The objective of this study is to develop the mechanical properties of an AlSiCu aluminum alloy using the two-step solution heat treatment. The microstructure of the gravity casting specimen represents a typical dendrite structure with a secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) of 40 um. In addition to the Al matrix, a large amount of coarsen eutectic Si phase, $Al_2Cu$ intermetallic phase, and Fe-rich phases is generated. The eutectic Si phases are fragmented and globularized with the solution heat treatment. The $Al_2Cu$ intermetallic phase is also resolutionized into the Al matrix. The $2^{nd}$ solution temperature at $525^{\circ}C$ may be an optimal condition to enhance the mechanical properties of the AlSiCu aluminum alloy.
The physical property and phase transformation in a commercial dental casting high gold alloy was investigated as a function of ageing temperature and time using microvickers hardness tester, X-ray diffraction, optical and electron microscopy and EPMA analyser. 1. With increasing ageing time, the hardness of solution-treated gold alloys increased slowly at the initial stage of ageing treatment at an ageing temperature of $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$, and it reached a maximum value of hardness at the medium stage. Finally, it decreased gradually during further ageing. The maximum value of hardness at was similar with that of the conventional materials and suitable for using as the crown & bridge. 2. During isothermal ageing at a temperature range of $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$, three phases consisting of the Au-rich ${\alpha}_1$phase with a face-centered cubic structure, the Pt3Zn ${\alpha}_2$phase with an ordered AuCu3(L12) type(f.c.c.) and the Pt-rich ${\alpha}_3$phase with face-centered cubic structure in solution-treated gold alloys were transformed into different three phases consisting of the ${\alpha}_1$phase, the ${\alpha}_3$phase and the PtZn $\beta$phase with an ordered AuCu I(L10) type. 3. The hardening of gold alloys was attributed to the lattice strains of the matrix resulting from the transformation of the ${\alpha}_2$phase to the $\beta$phase. 4. The softening of gold alloys during over-ageing was attributed to the coarsening of the nodules consisting of the $\beta$phase and ${\alpha}_1$matrix.
The specimens used were Ag-25 Pd-15 Cu ternary alloy and Au addition alloy. These alloys were melted and casted by induction electric furnace and centrifugal casting machine in Ar atmosphere. These specimens were solution treated for 2hr at $800^{\circ}C$ and were then quenched into iced water, and aged at $350{\sim}550^{\circ}C$ Age- hardening characteristics of the small Au-containing Ag-Pd-Cu dental alloys were investigated by means of hardness testing. X-ray diffraction and electron microscope observations, electrical resistance, ergy dispersed spectra and electron probe microanalysis. Principal results are as follows : Hardening occured in two stages, i.e., stage I in low temperature and stage II in high temperature regions, during continuous aging. The case of hardening in stage I was due to the formation of the $L1_0$ type face-centered tetragonal PdCu-ordered phase in the grain interior and hardening in stage I was affected by the Cu concentration. In stage II, decomposition of the ${\alpha}$ solid solution to a PdCu ordered phase($L1_0$ type) and an Ag-rich ${\alpha}2$ phase occurred and a discontinuous precipitation occurred at the grain boundary. From the electron microscope study, it was conclued that the cause of age-hardening in this alloy is the precipitation of the PdCu ordered phase, which has AuCu I type face-centered tetragonal structure. Precipetation procedure was ${\alpha}{\to}{\alpha}+{\alpha}_2+PdCu {\to}{\alpha}_1+{\alpha}_2+PdCu$ at Pd/Cu = 1.7 Ag-Pd-Cu alloy is more effective dental alloy as ageing treatment and is suitable to isothermal ageing at $450^{\circ}C$.

To establish the deposition condition of YBCO thin film on MgO single crystal substrates, processing parameters of deposition temperature, chemical composition and oxygen partial pressure were controlled. When using a Ba-deficient composition of YB $a_{1.8}$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$, non-superconducting phase like CuO, $CuYO_2$ were formed, but BaCu02 was formed together with Yl23 phase when the starting composition was Ba-rich ($YBa_{2.3}$$Cu_3$$O_{x}$). The epitaxially grown Yl23 phase was formed at 760-$810^{\circ}C$ and $P_{O2}$=0.29-0.91 Torr.r.r.r.
The effects of Bi and Sb additions on the microstructures and casting properties in lead-free Cu-Zn-Sn broze were investigated. (1) When only Bi was added to the bronze, Bi was precipitated on the ${\delta}$ phase of ${\alpha}$ dendrite cell boundary. When Bi and Sb were added together, Bi was precipitated on the ${\delta}_A$ which was the Sb-rich area in the ${\delta}$ phase. (2) The addition of Sb accelerated the formation of ${\delta}$ phase, and when Sb, Bi and Pb were added, Bi and Pb were precipitated as mixed solution in the ${\delta}_A$ phase. (3) The combined addition of Sb and Bi resulted in the suppression of shrinkage due to the complementary effects of the mass feeding of ${\alpha}$-dendrite cluster covered with ${\delta}$ phase and sealing of micro-shrinkage in the ${\delta}$ phase by solidification expansion of Bi.
This study is to investigate the stress distributions, crystal orientations and magnetic properties during die-upsetting according to working temperature of Nd-Fe-B-Cu alloys. The stress distributions in the specimens during compressing process were calculated by a finite element method program(SPID). The calculated stresses were effective stress (${\sigma}_{eff}$), compression stress(${\sigma}_z$), radial direction stress(${\sigma}_r$) rotational direction stress(${\sigma}_e$) and shear stress(${\tau}_{rz}$). The stress distributions of ${\sigma}_z$, obtained by a computer simulation showed that the stress components causing the magnetic alignment during die-upsetting of the cast magnets were very high at the center-part of a specimen, and decreased toward the periphery-part of a specimen. In view of the above results the magnetic properties should be better at the center-part of a specimen than any other parts. But the measured magnetic properties were better at the mid-part. These results should be due to the fact that the specimens were casted. Normally the magnetic properties are affected by the casting process as well as by the stress levels. ${\sigma}_r$, ${\sigma}_e$ are thought to affect the liquid phase flowing and domain patterns, respectively. The influence of ${\tau}_{rz}$ was trivial, ${\sigma}_{eff}$ distributed similar throughout the specimen. The Nd-rich phase appeared at the peripheral of the specimen where the stress level of ${\sigma}_r$, ${\sigma}_z$, was low or the stress level of ${\sigma}_e$ was high. The Nd-rich phase was squeezed out during die-upsetting. This phase had an effect on the crystal orientation and grain growth. The stress distributions of alloy were irregular at the parts of the specimen where the die contacted with specimen.
The age-hardening behavior and the structural changes in a commercial dental Au-Ag-Cu-Pd alloy were investigated by means of hardness test, optical and scanning electron microscopic observation, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction study. The drastic reduction in hardness by prolonged aging occurred after a rapid increase in hardness at the initial stage by the isothermal aging at $350^{\circ}C$. This softening was due to the broad precipitates formation of the lamellar structure which was composed of the f.c.t. AuCu I ordered f.c.t. phase containing Pd and the f.c.c. Ag-rich $\alpha$1 solid solution f.c.c.phase containing Au.

We prepared YBCO coated conductor by direct deposition of YBCO on Ag substrate by a MOCVD method. The Ag substrate was only prepared by cold rolling. The XRD data of the as-rolled Ag tape showed the formation of dominant (420) oriented grains. Processing variables were the oxygen partial pressure (Po$_2$) and deposition temperature (T$_{d}$). It was found that the a-axis oriented films were grown at lower T$_{d}$ below 80$0^{\circ}C$, while the c-axis oriented films were grown about 80$0^{\circ}C$. The surface of the films consisted of a second inclusion phase dispersed in the YBCO matrix. The Cu-rich phase regions were observed at the YBCO/Ag interface probably due to the inter-diffusion of Ag and Cu. Cu.
