Al-Cu-Mg 합금의 석출입자, 특히 S-상 입자들에 의한 변형장의 LACBED 관찰 (LACBED Observation of Strain Fields due to Precipitates, Especially S-Phase Particles in Al-Cu-Mg Alloy)

  • Al합금(Al-2.5Cu-1.5Mg wt.%)의 석출물 특히 S-상석출입자 $(Al_2CuMg)$ 부근의 변형장 (strain fields)에 대해 LACBED 관찰 연구가 처음으로 수행되었다. 변형장 강도에 대한 정량적 분석을 위해서는 대응되는 LACBED패턴 시뮬레이션 필요하다. 이를 위해 S-입자에 대해서 형태가 단순한 $a_s$-축을 가진 원기둥 모양을 갖고 변형장의 격자변위 벡터가 이 축에 수직 방향을 갖는다고 가정했다. 이런 단순한 모델을 가지고 변형장에 대한 관찰 패턴과 시뮬레이션 사이 합리적인 일치를 얻었다. 그러나 합금의 초기 시효 단계에서는 의미 있는 변형장이 관측되지 않았다. 따라서 이 실험의 결과로 예상되는 것은 합금의 최대 경도를 갖는 시료에는 S-상 석출 입자들이 Al-모체에 복잡한 변형장 그물망을 만들고 이것이 합금 경도에 기여 할 것으로 사료된다.

Investigating the Au-Cu thick layers Electrodeposition Rate with Pulsed Current by Optimization of the Operation Condition

  • The impact of effective parameters on the electrodeposition rate optimization of Au-Cu alloy at high thicknesses on the silver substrate was investigated in the present study. After ensuring the formation of gold alloy deposits with the desired and standard percentage of gold with the cartage of 18K and other standard karats that should be observed in the manufacturing of the gold and jewelry artifacts, comparing the rate of gold-copper deposition by direct and pulsed current was done. The rate of deposition with pulse current was significantly higher than direct current. In this process, the duty cycle parameter was effectively optimized by the "one factor at a time" method to achieve maximum deposition rate. Particular parameters in this work were direct and pulse current densities, bath temperature, concentration of gold and cyanide ions in electrolyte, pH, agitation and wetting agent additive. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and surface chemical analysis system (EDS) were used to study the effect of deposition on the cross-sections of the formed layers. The results revealed that the Au-Cu alloy layer formed with concentrations of 6gr·L-1 Au, 55gr·L-1 Cu, 24 gr·L-1 KCN and 1 ml·L-1 Lauryl dimethyl amine oxide (LDAO) in the 0.6 mA·cm-2 average current density and 30% duty cycle, had 0.841 ㎛·min-1 Which was the highest deposition rate. The use of electrodeposition of pure and alloy gold thick layers as a production method can reduce the use of gold metal in the production of hallow gold artifacts, create sophisticated and unique models, and diversify production by maintaining standard karats, hardness, thickness and mechanical strength. This will not only make the process economical, it will also provide significant added value to the gold artifacts. By pulsating of currents and increasing the duty cycle means reducing the pulse off-time, and if the pulse off-time becomes too short, the electric double layer would not have sufficient growth time, and its thickness decreases. These results show the effect of pulsed current on increasing the electrodeposition rate of Au-Cu alloy confirming the previous studies on the effect of pulsed current on increasing the deposition rate of Au-Cu alloy.

  • Cl-based gas chemistry is generally used to etching for al alloy metallization. After the etching of Al alloy with Cl-based gas plasma, residual chlorine on Al alloy reacts with H$_{2}$O due to air exposure and results in Al corrosion. In this study, the corrosion phenomena of Al wer examined with XPS(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and SEM (scanning electorn microscopy). It was confirmed that chlorine mainly existed at the grian boundary of Al alloy after plasma etching of Al alloy with cl-based gas chemistry and Al corrosion was largely generated at the grain boundary of Al alloy. And residual chlorine was passivated by sulfur and fluorine which were generated by SF$_{6}$ plasma. These effects of passivation reduced the Al corrosion due to air exposure.

Microstructural Change and Magnetic Properties of Nanocrystalline Fe-Si-B-Nb-Cu Based Alloys Containing Minor Elements

  • The effect of minor element additions (Ca, Al) on microstructural change and magnetic properties of Fe-Nb-Cu-Si-B alloy has been investigated, in this paper. The Fe-Si-B-Nb-Cu(-Ca-Al) alloys were prepared by arc melting in argon gas atmosphere. The alloy ribbons were fabricated by melt-spinning, and heat-treated under a nitrogen atmosphere at $520-570^{\circ}C$ for 1 h. The soft magnetic properties of the ribbon core were analyzed using the AC B-H meter. A differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to examine the crystallization behavior of the amorphous alloy ribbon. The microstructure was observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The addition of Ca increased the electrical resistivity to reduce the eddy current loss. And the addition of Al decreased the intrinsic magnetocrystalline anisotropy $K_1$ resulting in the increased permeability. The reduction in the size of the ${\alpha}$-Fe precipitates was observed in the alloys containing of Ca and Al. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the additions of Ca and Al notably improved the soft magnetic properties such as permeability, coercivity and core loss in the Fe-Nb-Cu-Si-B base nanocrystalline alloys.

동합금의 워터캐비테이션피닝에 의한 내구성과 부식특성 평가 (Evaluation of Corrosion and the Anti-Cavitation Characteristics of Cu Alloy by Water Cavitation Peening)

  • Cu alloy is widely used for marine applications due to its excellent ductility and high resistance for corrosion as wells as cavitation. However, long term exposure of the material to marine environments may result in damages caused by cavitation and corrosion. Water cavitation peening has been introduced in order to improve resistance of Cu alloy to corrosion and cavitation. The technology induces compressive residual stress onto the surface, and thus enhances the fatigue strength and life. In this study, the characteristics of the material were investigated by using water cavitaiton peening technique, and results showed that 2 minutes of water cavitation peening indicated the considerable improvement in hardness. On the other hand, over 10 minutes of water cavitation peening accelerated damages to the surface. In the case of ALBC3, water cavitation peening in the range of 2 to 10 minutes has shown the excellent durability and corrosion resistance while minimizing surface damages.

ARB법에 의한 Cu-Fe-P합금의 초미세결정립 형성 (Formation of Ultrafine Grains in Cu-Fe-P Alloy by Accumulative Roll-Bonding Process)

  • A Cu-Fe-P copper alloy was processed by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) for ultra grain refinement and high strengthening. Two 1mm thick copper sheets, 30 mm wide and 300 mm long, were first degreased and wire-brushed for sound bonding. The sheets were then stacked on top of each other and roll-bonded by about 50% reduction rolling without lubrication at ambient temperature. The bonded sheet was then cut into two pieces of the same dimensions and the same procedure was repeated for the sheets up to eight cycles. Microstructural evolution of the copper alloy with the number of the ARB cycles was investigated by optical microscopy (OM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and electron back scatter diffraction(EBSD). The grain size decreased gradually with the number of ARB cycles, and was reduced to 290 nm after eight cycles. The boundaries above 60% of ultrafine grains formed exhibited high angle boundaries above 15 degrees. In addition, the average misorientation angle of ultrafine grains was 30 degrees.

  • The relationship between precipitation and coefficient of thermal expansion of Al-6%Si-0.4%Mg-0.9%Cu-(Ti) alloy (in wt.%) after various heat treatments were studied by the thermodynamic analyzer (TMA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Solution heat treatment of the alloy was carried out at 535℃ for 6 h followed by water quenching, and the samples were artificially aged in the air at 180℃ and 220℃ for 5 h. The coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) curve showed some residual strain and decreased with increasing aging temperature. The CTE curves changed sharply in the temperature range of 200℃ to 400℃, and the corresponding peak shifted for the aged samples due to the change in the precipitation behavior of the secondary phase. These transformation peaks in the aged sample are related to the volume of the precipitation of the Si phase as determined by DSC analysis. The change in CTE is mainly caused by the precipitation of the Si phase in the Al-Si alloy, and the size of the change occurs simultaneously with the size of the precipitate.

  • The crorosion film of gilt bronz, silver and iron objects, which were excaved from Ancient Tomb of Silla Dynasty, was removed by the electrolytic reduction process. These metallic objects were mainly investigated for microstructure, designs and gilting film etc. Most iron objects might be made by hot forging process. The cold extrusion technique might be used for gold and silver objects, in addition to an amalgam method might be applied for the gilting Au film on Cu-alloy surface. For the gilting on glass surface, first, a Cu alloy was cladded on glass , next, Au-film was obtained on the Cu-ally by the amagum method.

동도금한 은선재의 전기선폭발에 의해 제조한 Ag-Cu분말 (Ag-Cu Powders Prepared by Electrical Wire Explosion of Cu-plated Ag Wires)

  • Ag-Cu alloy nano powders were fabricated by the electrical explosion of Cu-plated Ag wires. Ag wires of 0.2mm diameter was electroplated to final diameter of 0.220 mm and 0.307 mm which correspond to Ag-27Cu and Ag-68Cu alloy. The explosion product consisted of equilibrium phases of ${\alpha}-Ag$ and ${\beta}$-Cu. The particle size of Ag-Cu nano powders were 44 nm and 70 nm for 0.220 mm and 0.307 mm wires, respectively. The Ag-Cu nano powders contained less Cu than average value due to higher sublimation energy compared to that of Ag. As a result, micron-sized spherical particles formed from liquid droplets contained higher Cu content.

자연과학적 분석을 통한 논산 관촉사 석조미륵보살입상(論山 灌燭寺 石造彌勒菩薩立像) 청동풍탁(靑銅風鐸)의 제작 기법 연구 (The Manufacturing Techniques of the Stone Standing Maitreya Bodhisattva Bronze Wind Chimes of Gwanchoksa Temple, Nonsan)

  • 풍탁은 한국, 중국, 일본에서 오랜 기간 사용되고 있는 불교 장엄구이다. 하지만 풍탁은 제작 시기를 추정하는 데 어려움이 있으며 유물의 수가 많지 않아 기초연구가 부족한 실정이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 미술사적 연구를 참고하여 논산 관촉사 석조미륵보살입상의 보개에 장식되어 있는 청동풍탁 8점을 형태학적으로 분류하였으며, 이에 따른 제작 기법 및 제작 시기에 대하여 과학적으로 규명하였다. 연구 결과를 종합해볼 때 보개의 위치에 따라 관촉사 석조미륵보살입상 청동풍탁은 형태 및 제작 기법의 특징이 나타났다. 대형인 하부 보개 청동풍탁 4점은 Cu-Sn-Pb 삼원계 합금을 주조 기법으로 제작하였으며, 서산 출토 동제풍탁과 형태가 매우 흡사하여 고려 전기에 조성된 것으로 확인된다. 중형인 상부 보개 북측 청동풍탁 2점은 Cu-Sn 또는 Cu-Sn-Pb 합금을 단조 기법으로 제작하였으며, 고려 후기~조선시대에 나타나는 원통형 풍탁과 형태가 유사하다. 소형인 상부 보개 남측 청동풍탁 2점은 미량의 아연(Zn)이 존재하는 것으로 판단되는 Cu-Sn-Pb 삼원계 합금을 주조 기법으로 제작하였으며, 합금 성분 및 치게의 형태 등을 통해 조선 후기에 제작된 것으로 보인다. 미세조직 관찰 및 성분 분석을 통해 하부 보개 청동풍탁 2점은 Cu:Sn:Pb≒80:15:5의 합금비를 지닌 삼원계 합금을 주조 후 서냉하여 제작하였음을 알 수 있다. 상부 보개 동북측 청동풍탁은 방짜유기와 유사한 합금비인 Cu-Sn 이원계 합금을 소재로 단조 기법으로 제작된 것으로 확인된다. 이를 국내 풍탁의 선행 연구와 비교·분석한 결과, 하부 보개 동측 청동풍탁 2점은 타명기에 적합한 주석 함유량을 지닌 고려시대에 제작된 강진 월남사지 출토 금동풍탁의 합금 조성비와 유사하게 확인된다. 방짜유기와 유사한 합금비를 지닌 상부 보개 동북측 청동풍탁은 현재까지 연구된 풍탁 중 유일하게 단조 기법으로 제작된 사례이다. 본 연구를 통해 풍탁의 제작 시기를 형태학적 특징으로 구분하는 데 있어 과학적인 근거를 통해 보다 명확하게 구분할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다.
