젤라틴 첨가에 의한 구리 박막의 미세구조 변화 및 부식 특성 (Effects of Gelatin Additives on the Microstructures and Corrosion Properties of Electrodeposited Cu Thin Films)

  • We report on the effect of additives on the microstructure and corrosion properties of electrodeposited Cu films. Copper films were fabricated by electrodeposition on various concentrations of gelatin in a copper sulfate electrolyte. The surface morphologies of the Cu films were observed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), and crystal orientation of the Cu films was analyzed by X-ray diffraction measurement. (220) plane was the dominant orientation when the films were fabricated at ambient temperature, decreasing in dominance with addition of gelatin. On the other hand, (111) plane-Cu films were preferentially grown at $40^{\circ}C$, and were also diminished with adding additives. Corrosion rate measurements using the Tafel extrapolation method based on corrosion potential and current reveal the effect of additives on corrosion behavior. Corrosion behavior was found to be strongly related to the orientation of the films. Consequently, additives like gelatin influence crystal orientation of the films, and if a less dense crystal plane, e.g. (220), is preferentially oriented during electrodeposition, a lower corrosion rate could be produced, since the plane shows a lower current density.

  • 가스터빈엔진의 고온 부품은 초내열 합금 재료를 이용하며, 냉각설계 적용으로 형상이 복잡하여 정밀 주조 과정을 거치게 된다. 터빈 부품에 주로 적용이 되는 일방향 응고 및 단결정 재료는 제조 과정에서 결정립 성장 방향이 설계와 다르게 섭동을 가지게 되며, 이는 각 방향에 대한 재료 상수의 섭동을 유발하여 응력 분포의 변화와 함께 피로 수명에 큰 산포를 야기하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 일방향 응고 재료 노즐에 대하여 결정립 성장 방향의 섭동에 대한 구조 건전성의 영향을 저주기 피로 수명을 통해 확인하여, 향후 제작 허용값에 대한 제안 및 좀 더 정교한 통계적 접근이 필요함을 확인하고자 한다. 이를 위해 복합 열전달 해석을 통해 금속 온도 분포를 계산하고 이를 근거로 구조 해석 및 저주기 피로 수명을 계산하였다.

  • The development of deformation texture in FCC polycystalline metals during rolling was simulated by the finite element analysis using a large-deformation, elaatic-plastic, rate-dependent polycrystalline model of crystal plasticity. Different plastic anisotropy due to different orientation of each crystal makes inhomogeneous deformation. Assuming plane strain compression condition, the simulation with a high rate sensitivity resulted in main component change from Dillamore at low rate sensitivity to Brass component.

Liquid Crystal Alignment on the Multiple Photo-treated Layers by the Interfered Laser Light

  • Orientational alignment patterns have been proven to be that they are very useful for realizing diverse properties of liquid crystals. Here we produced the patterns combining interfered laser beams. A photo-isomerizable polymer including azo unit, which induces nematic liquid crystal alignment to the polarized laser light, was used as the alignment to layer. Double irradiations into two orthogonal directions brought the orientation patterns similar to the checkerboard. It indicates the possibility of bistability on those patterns.

녹색 레이저 발진용 NYAB 단결정 성장 (Growth of Nd : YAl3(BO3)4 Single Crystal for Green Laser)

  • Nd : YAl3(BO3)4 (NYAB) single crystal has been developed for green laser. In this experiment, we found K2O/3MoO3/0.5B2O3 to be a suitable flux for NYAB crystal growth, and grew NYAB crystal by TSSG method using this flux. By varying the cooling rate of solution, seed orientation, and rotation speed, the effects of these growth conditions on the crystal quality and its morphology were examined. Suitable growth conditiions were a cooling rate slower than 2.4$^{\circ}C$/day, the rotation speed of 25~30 rpm, and the <001> seed orienttion. The phases of grown crystal, coexisting and volatile materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction. In addition, the possiblity of laser action was examined by UV analysis.
