A Study of Functional Jeolpyon Prepared with Silk Protein (Silk Protein을 첨가한 기능성 절편의 제조에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to reach silk protein added in differing amounts to Jeolpyon, Korean traditional rice cake, using rice powder as its primary material, estimation of the micro organism quality, physicochemical property, sensory evaluation and the property of storage period (20${pm} 5 ^{\circ}C$). In the physicochemical property, the content of proximate composition of rice powder was measured as 38.11% of moisture, 56.62% of total sugar, 5.11% of crude protein, 0.52% of crude lipid, 0.25% of ash. And the raw material of silk protein was measured as 6.61% of moisture, 91.22% of crude protein, 6.41% of crude lipid and 0.75% of ash. The pH of raw material for rice powder and silk protein Jeolpyon showed mild acidity as 6.41 and 6.23, respectively. In rice powder and silk protein, total free sugar contents was 0.89% and 0.02%, and total amino acids contents was 4.28% and 52.21 %, respectively. For sensory evaluation. color, taste, softness and adhesiveness were significantly acceptable in control and adding 1 % silk protein. Control and samples added 1$\sim$3% silk protein had high sensory score color in overall acceptance. In conclusion. Jeolpyon can be manufactured with nutritious Jeolpyon by adding silk protein.

  • This experiment was carried out to compare chemical composition of corn-cowpea inter cropping and corn monocropping plants at different harvestion time and obtained the following results. 1. In both cropping systems, the contents of crude fat and nitrogen free extract (NFE) were significantly increased (P<0.01), while that of crude protein crude fiber and crude ash were decreased (P<0.01) with each harvesting time. 2. The acid detergent fiber (ADF) and crude fiber contents were decreased same patterns in growing period, however, according to maturing of corn ears the difference between ADF and crude fiber contents reduced. 3. At mature stage, crude protein yields per 10a in corn monocropping and corn-cowpea intercropping system were 127.6kg and 152.1kg, respectively. The difference of crude protein content between corn-cowpea intercropping and corn monocropping system was 19.2%. 4. TDN yields of each cropping system, at mature stage, obtained similar results and TDN yields per 10a of corn monocropping and corn-cowpea intercropping system were 1006.1kg and 990.1, respectively. 5. Conseqently, corn-cowpea intercropping system could be increased protein yield without decreasing of dry matter yield in comparison with corn monocropping system.

  • To study the response to plant growth by the environmental factors, the effects of application of nitrogen on changes in the yield, crude protein, amino acids, chlorophyll, carotene, total phosphorus, acid-soluble phosphorus, phospholipids, RNA, and DNA were investigated with westerworlds 9Lolium sublatum) and perennial rye-grasses (Lolium perenne). The amounts of dry weight, crude protein, amino acids, chlorophyll, carotene, total phosphorus, acid-soluble phosphorus, phospholipids, RNA and DNA of both rye-grasses increased with adequately increasing nitrogen, and reached a maximum with an adequate application of nitrogen. The relationships between yields and crude protein contents, crude protein and RNA contents, and yields and RNA contents of westerworlds and perennial rye-grasses were found to be positively correlated, respectively.   • The experiment was canied out to investigate the effects of cutting frequencies (3, 4 and 5 cuts per year) in relation to fertilization of mineral nitrogen on crude protein yield and the contents of crude protein and acid detergent fibre in orchardgms(Dacty1is glomerata L.). Tne results are as follows : 1. The content of crude protein increased according to the increase in cutting frequency and showed the highest in the 1st cut in all treatments. At 4 and 5 cutting frequencies per year, the content of crude protein increased in a large extent according to the increased fertilization of mineral nitrogen. However at 3 cutting frequency, the content of cmde protein appeared higher for no application of mineral nitrogen than for the treatments with fertilization. 2. 'Ihe content of acid detergent fibre(ADF) was considerably reduced at 4 and 5 cutting frequencies and in all treatments, the lowest were recorded in the 1st cut or in the last cut. At 3, 4 and 5 cutting frequencies, the highest ADF were shown in the 2nd cut, 3rd cut and 3rd cut respectively. However, the general trend was that the content of ADF was greatly reduced according to increased level of mineral nitrogen fertilization. 3. The yeild of cmde protein was the highest at 5 cutting frequency(l.2 ton DMIha) and it indicated that the yield of cmde protein increased in accordance to the increase in fertilization of mineral nitrogen and cutting frequency. 4. Estimates of Genetic Parameter for Carcass Traits and Chemical Composition Analysis in Hanwoo (한우 도체형질 및 도체 일반성분 유전모수 추정)

  • The objective of this study is to check the applicability of the improved trait through the nutritional value of loin and the estimation of genetic parameter through the chemical composition analysis(moisture, crude fat, crude protein, crude ash) for Hanwoo carcass traits and loin. The data of 1kg of loin sampled and analyzed for 2,033 Hanwoo progeny test(steers) from $47^{th}$ to $57^{th}$ were used as the disclosure material used in this study. The study resulted that the heritability for carcass weight, eye muscle area, back fat thickness and marbling score which are Hanwoo carcass traits was estimated to be 0.37, 0.51, 0.44 and 0.57, respectively and the heritability for moisture, crude fat, crude protein and crude ash which are the chemical composition analysis to be 0.62, 0.64, 0.58 and 0.12, respectively. And the genetic correlation estimate between carcass weight and crude fat was 0.35, and marbling score with moisture, crude fat, crude protein and crude ash was -0.966, 0.964, -0.924 and -0.664, respectively. The genetic correlation between moisture and crude fat, crude protein was analyzed to be -0.998, 0.969 and a high genetic correlation was shown in crude fat and crude protein, -0.979. As the chemical composition analysis value showed high heritability in moisture, crude fat and crude protein, improved traits are considered to be available.

Seed Protein Content and Fatty Acid Composition of Soybeans collected from Southwestern Islands in Korea

  • The 129 soybean genotypes were collected in 43 island locations from January to May 2001. Seeds of 129 genotypes collected were analyzed for crude protein and fatty acid composition contents. The crude protein content was averaged to 41.1 % and ranged from 37.4% to 44.4%. The average palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid content were 12.0%, 4.0%, 23.2%, 55.5%, and 7.9%, and the ranges of those were 10.0% to 15.0%, 3.0% to 4.8%, 21.7% to 25.5%, 50.2% to 58.3% and 7.0% to 12.0%, respectively. Heritabiliries of palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, and crude protein were higher, but that of stearic acid and linolenic acid were relatively lower. The genotypic correlation coefficients between crude protein and oleic acid showed highly positive correlation, but that of linoleic acid showed highly opsitive correlation, but that of linoleic acid showed highly negative correlation and also palmitic acid, stearic acid and linolenic acid showed negative correlation.

Development of Near Infrared Spectroscopy(NIRS) Equation of Crude Protein in Wheat Germplasm

  • Wheat is mainly composed of carbohydrate but it contains a moderate amount of protein, which gives a very useful characteristics to flour food such as the unique elasticity and stickiness of the dough. We developed a calibration equation for analyzing crude protein content using Near Infrared Spectroscopy to quick analyze the crude protein content of wheat germplasm stored in the National Agrobiodiversity Center, RDA, Korea. The 1,798 wheat germplasms were used to draw up the calibration formula. The crude protein's interval distribution of 1,798 wheat germplasms used for the calibration was 7.04-20.84%, the average content was 13.2%, and standard deviation was 2.6%. The germplasms distribution was composed of a suitable group for the preparation of the calibration formula because the content distribution was a normal, excluding the 13.0-15.5% content section. In order to verify the applicability of the NIRS prediction model, we measured the crude protein content of the 300 wheat germplasms that were not used for the calibration using both Kjeldahl analysis and NIR spectrum. The analysis value calculated using each method were statistically processed, and the test results and statistical indicators of the predictive model were compared. As a result, The R2 value of the optimized NIRS prediction model was 0.997, and the Standard error of Calibration value(SEC) was 0.132, and slope value was 1.000. With prediction model selection, compared to Kjeldahl method, R2 values were 0.994(Kjeldahl), 0.998(NIRS), and the SEC value were 0.191 and 0.132, respectively, comparing the statistical indices of the forecast model. And slope value were 1.013, 1.000, respectively. The analysis of crude protein content by the NIRS predictive model developed by each statistical index showing similar figures is judged to show a high degree of correlation with the Kjeldahl analysis. The proven calibration equation will be used to measure the crude protein content of wheat germplasms held by the National Agrobiodiversity Center, and by dividing the wheat germplasms by their use according to the crude protein content, it will provide useful information to relevant researchers.

  • Proteome research in the medical field is expected to accelerate the understanding of disease mechanism, and to create new diagnostic concept. For protein profiling, this paper proposes a new methodology named CPDIB (Crude Protein Direct Blotting). In the CPDIB procedure, crude protein sample is directly immobilized on a membrane and the expression of protein molecules in the sample are analyzed quantitatively by using a special device called ImmobiChip, where the membrane is used as a field of the immune reaction. The over-all structure of the ImmobiChip is based on the conventional Slot blot device. Mechanical improvement in the air-tightness of the case holding the membrane realizes the direct blotting and results in high performance of stability in the immune reaction. In the measurement of multiple proteins, a dispensing robot is used for increasing the efficiency of handling of liquid. Cooperation of the dispensing robot with the ImmobiChip for immobilizing proteins realizes automated and stable performance of the CPDIB procedure. This paper shows the evaluation of the air-tightness of the ImmobiChip, the ability of analyzing proteins using the CPDIB procedure and the performance of the automated equipment.

  • The effect of phosphorus nutrition on the content of deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA), ribonucleic acid(RNA), crude protein and plant growth of soybean plant(Glycine max, Merr.) was studied. Yields of the above-and under-ground parts of the soybean plant in terms of dry weight, the amounts of crude protein, RNA and DNA continued to increase with increasing phosphorus supply. The amounts of RNA and crude protein were highest in the leaf tissues where most intensive growth was taking place. The relationships among DNA, RNA, crude protein and plant growth appeared to consist of the central dogma which has immortalized, while DNA in plant tissue was subject to charges cuased by external environmental facters such as phosphorus nutrition.
