  • This paper brings out a novel method for reducing Near end and Far end Crosstalk using Electromagnetic Band Gap structures (EBG) in High Speed RF transmission lines. This work becomes useful in high speed closely spaced Printed Circuit Board (PCB) traces connected to multi core processors. By using this method, reduction of −40dB in Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT) and −60 dB in Far End Crosstalk (FEXT) is achieved. The results are validated through experimental measurements. Time domain analysis is performed to validate the signal integrity property of coupled transmission lines.

  • The purpose of this research is to establish the crosstalk characteristic of mm-wave Coplanar structure. The components in mm-wave CPW are classified to transmission devices, EM devices, and quasi - TEM devices. After design of these devices, we analyzed these CPW s electromagnetically using FDTD method, and suggested the corsstalk characteristic of mm-wave CPW. In oder to realize a CPW module up to 30 GHz-100 GHz band, we research on a technology of 3-dimensional mm-wave CPW, and GaAs substrate with ohmic lossy layer. As a result this research, we suggested the optimum crosstalk characteristic of mm-wave CPW, and improved the crosstalk quality of mm-wave CPW.

  • The impact of optical receiver configuration on in-band crosstalk-induced penalty has been investigated in both theoretical and experimental analyses, for differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) and differential quadrature phase-shift keying (DQPSK) signals. Previously it has been shown that DPSK signals are ~6 dB more tolerant to in-band crosstalk than on-off keying (OOK) signals. However, we find that the tolerance difference between the two signals is reduced to ~3 dB when the decision threshold of the receiver is optimized to minimize the bit-error rate for each signal. Then we derive simple equations for the in-band crosstalk-induced penalty in DPSK and DQPSK signals with two different optical receiver configurations: balanced and single-ended direct-detection receivers. We confirm that the penalties obtained from our simple equations agree well with the measured results.

  • The crosstalks of two-waveguide & three-waveguide directional couplers are analyzed. Advantages and disadvantages for each coupler are compared and discussed. Based on the relationship between the coupled mode and the normal mode, the mathematical expressions are derived in terms of the crosstalks for each directional coupler. Numerical techniques such as the finite-difference method and the beam propagation method are employed to testify the validity of the derived equations. The calculation results show that two-waveguide directional coupler is superior to any types of three-waveguide couplers from the practical viewpoint of the crosstalk and the coupling length.

  • Optical Switching Matrix (OSM) or Optical Multistage Interconnection Networks (OMINs) comprising photonic switches have been studied extensively as important interconnecting blocks for Optical Cross Connects (OXC) based on Optical Burst Switching (OBS). A basic element of photonic switching networks is a 2$\times$2 directional coupler with two inputs and two outputs. This paper is concerned with the diagnosis of multiple crosstalk-faults in OSM. As the network size becomes larger in these days, the conventional diagnosis methods based on tests and simulation become inefficient, or even more impractical. We propose a simple and easily implementable algorithm for detection and isolation of the multiple crosstalk-faults in OSM. Specifically. we develop an algorithm for isolation of the source fault in switching elements whenever the multiple crosstalk-faults arc detected in OSM. The proposed algorithm is illustrated by an example of 16$\times$16 OSM.

  • It is possible to design the high performance, integration and low cost radio frequency components by using LTCC(Low Temperature Cofired Ceramic) technology. But there is a critical point to design the spiral inductor because of crosstalk effects. of the crosstalk effect of the spiral inductor are investigated using full-wave analysis of the FEM(Finite Element Method) in this paper. The results show that input power of the spiral inductor are coupled from 0.1% to 10% above 3GHz. Therefore, we should consider the crosstalk effects when we design the LTCC.

  • Differential signaling has become a popular choice for high-speed interconnection schemes on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), offering superior immunity to external noise. However, conventional differential transmission lines on PCBs have problems, such as crosstalk and radiated emission. To overcome these, we propose a Twisted Differential Line (TDL) structure on a multi-layer PCB. Its improved immunity to crosstalk noise and the reduced radiated emission has been successfully demonstrated by measurement. The proposed structure is proven to transmit 3 Gbps digital signals with a clear eye-pattern. Furthermore, it is subject to much less crosstalk noise and achieves a 13 dB suppression of radiated emission. • High-speed I/O channels require adaptive techniques to optimize the settings for filter tap weights at decision feedback equalization (DFE) read channels to compensate for channel inter-symbol interference (ISI) and crosstalk from multiple adjacent channels. Both ISI and crosstalk tend to vary with channel length, process, and temperature variations. Individually optimizing parameters such as those just mentioned leads to suboptimal solutions. We propose a joint optimization technique for crosstalk cancellation (XTC) at DFE to compensate for both ISI and XTC in high-speed I/O channels. The technique is used to compensate for between 15.7 dB and 19.7 dB of channel loss combined with a variety of crosstalk strengths from $60mV_{p-p}$ to $180mV_{p-p}$ adaptively, where the transmit non-return-to-zero signal amplitude is a constant $500mV_{p-p}$.

  • Neutrophils are professional phagocytes that provide defense against invading pathogens through phagocytosis, degranulation, generation of ROS, and the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Although long been considered as short-lived effector cells with limited biosynthetic activity, recent studies have revealed that neutrophils actively communicate with other immune cells. Neutrophils employ various types of soluble mediators, including granules, cytokines, and chemokines, for crosstalk with immune cells. Additionally, ROS and NETs, major arsenals of neutrophils, are utilized for intercellular communication. Furthermore, extracellular vesicles play a crucial role as mediators of neutrophil crosstalk. In this review, we highlight the extracellular mechanisms of neutrophils and their roles in crosstalk with other cells.

  • The effect of crosstalk errors is most significant in high-performance circuits. This paper presents effective test patterns for SoC and Board level interconnects considering actual effective aggressors. Initially '6n' algorithm, where 'n' is the total number of interconnect nets, is analyzed to detect and diagnose 100% crosstalk faults. Then, more efficient algorithm is proposed reducing the number of test patterns significantly while maintaining complete crosstalk fault coverage.
