Content of chlorine in s쇼rene-DVB copolymer was decreased as crosslink increased and it is because as crosslink increased $1\%,\;2\%,\;5\%\;and\;10\%$ DVB content increased and crosslink density increased and cavity was reduced. Functional group of resin almost disappeared as C-C1 peak around $700cm^{-1}$ was substituted with 1-aza-12-C-4 macrocyclic ligand and new peak of C-N around $1020cm^{-1}$ appeared, so it was confirmed that styrene-DVB copolymer and ligand were compounded. As crosslink increased in the analysis of element contents, it resulted in the reduction of nitrogen content and it is because as crosslink increased, it led to the reduction of chlorine content in the process of substitution reaction and it affected macrocyclic ligand substituted. Form of functional synthetic resin showed distortion of its particles as macrocyclic ligand was introduced to styrene-DVB copolymer and hydrogen of ligand caused substitution with chlorine element of styrene molecule.
Wear particles of the model tread compounds for bus and truck tires were made using a laboratory abrasion tester and characterized based on their size distributions, shapes, and crosslink densities. The influence of the carbon black contents and rubber compositions (NR= 100 and NR/BR= 80/20) on the production of wear particles was investigated. The wear particles were separated according to size using a sieve shaker. The shape properties of the wear particles were analyzed using an image analyzer and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Their shapes were observed as tiny stick cookies or sausages with bumpy surfaces. The particle size distribution tended to be smaller with increasing carbon black content. Moreover, the particle size distributions of the NR = 100 samples were larger than that of the NR/BR blend samples. There were different filaments in the wear particles. The filament diameters tended to be thinner with increasing carbon black content. The crosslink density increased with increasing carbon black content, and the crosslink densities of the NR= 100 samples were lower than those of the NR/BR blend ones. The particle size distribution tended to be smaller with increasing crosslink density. Based on the experimental results, the wear particles can be produced by detaching debris from the main body through repetitive strain and recovery.
Emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber silica wet masterbatch (ESBR silica WMB) technology was studied to develop highly filled and highly dispersed silica compounds, involving the preparation of a composite by co-coagulating the modified silica and the rubber latex in a liquid phase. Previous studies have shown that when manufacturing ESBR silica WMB/Butadiene silica dry masterbatch (BR silica DMB) blend compounds, preparing BR silica dry masterbatch and mixing it with ESBR silica WMB gave excellent results. However, WMB still has the problem of lower crosslink density due to residual surfactants. Therefore, in this study, tetrabenzylthiuram disulfide (TBzTD) was added instead of diphenyl guanidine (DPG) in the ESBR silica WMB/BR silica DMB blend compounds and sulfur/CBS contents were increased to evaluate their cure characteristics, crosslink densities, mechanical properties, and dynamic viscoelastic properties. TBzTD was found to be more effective in increasing the crosslink density and to produce superior properties compared to DPG. In addition, with increasing sulfur/CBS contents, mechanical properties and rolling resistance were enhanced due to high crosslink density, but the abrasion resistance was not significantly changed because of the toughness.
Cryptand resins were synthesized by mixing 1-aza-18-crown-6 macrocyclic ligand with styrene divinylbenzene copolymer having 1%, 2%, 5%, and 10% crosslink by a substitution reaction. These synthetic resins were confirmed by chlorine content, elementary analysis, SEM, surface area, and IR-spectrum. As the results of the effects of pH, crosslink of synthetic resin, and dielectric constant of a solvent on uranium ion adsorption for resin adsorbent, the uranium ion showed high adsorption at pH 3 or over. Adsorption selectivity for the resin in methanol solvent was the order of uranium ($UO_2{^{2+}}$) > calcium ($Ca^{2+}$) > neodymium ($Nd^{3+}$) ion, adsorbability of the uranium ion was the crosslink in order of 1%, 2%, 5%, and 10% and it was increased with the lower dielectric constant.

We synthesized new poly(p -phenylene vinylene) (PPV) derivatives including different portions of crosslink that could interconnect the backbone of PPV for application in optoelectronic devices such as lightemitting-diodes, photovoltaic cells, and lasers. The fluorescence and electroluminescence properties of PPV including crosslink were discussed with respect of their structure and length of crosslink unit.
Cryptand resins were synthesized with 1-aza-15-crown-5 macrocyclic ligand attached to styrene divinylbenzene (DVB) copolymer with crosslink of $1\%,\;2\%,\;5\%\;and\;10\%$ by substitution reaction. The synthesis of these resins was confirmed by content of chlorine, element analysis, and IR-spectrum. The effects of pH, time, dielectric constant of solvent and crosslink on adsorption of uranium$(UO_2^{2+})$ ion were investigated. The uranium ion was showed fast adsorption on the resins above pH 3. The optimum equilibrium time for adsorption of metallic ions was about two hours. The adsorption selectivity determined in ethanol was in increasing order uranium$(UO_2^{2+})$ > zinc$(Zn^{2+})$ > samarium$(Sm^{3+})$ ion. The adsorption was in order of $1\%>2\%>5\%>10\%$ crosslink resin and adsorption of resin decreased in proportion to order of dielectric constant of solvents.
Resins were synthesized with 1-aza-15-crown-5 macrocyclic ligand attached to styrene(dangerous matter) divinylbenzene(DVB) copolymer with crosslink of 1, 2, 6 and 15% by substitution reaction. The synthesis of these resins was confirmed by content of chlorine, element analysis, and IR-spectrum. The effects of pH, time and crosslink on adsorption of metal ion from water fire extinguishing agent by the synthetic resin adsorbent were investigated. The metal ion was showed fast adsorption on the resins above pH 3. The optimum equilibrium time for adsorption of metallic ions was about two hours. The adsorption selectivity determined in water was in increasing order of $Mg^{2+}>Al^{3+}>Pb^{2+}$. The adsorption was in the order of 1, 2, 6, and 15% crosslink resin.
Water-based systems are dominating the coating market because of worldwide VOCs regulations. Research is focusing especially on waterborne polyurethane (WPU) because of its unique mechanical and chemical properties. However, commercial WPU consists of linear thermoplastic polymers with polar groups on the main chain, which do not perform as well as solvent-borne PU in a two-pack system. In this study, APTES were used as a chain crosslink agent to overcome commercial WPU's limited performance. WPUs synthesized by using a sol-gel process were evaluated with FT-IR, particle analysis, TGA, tensile tests, pull-off tests, SEM, and EIS. The results showed that WPUs with added APTES had better thermal stability, mechanical properties, and water resistance than did WPUs without added APTES. Consequently, the sol-gel process increased the crosslink density of WPUs and modified the WPU's own properties.
