  • In this paper, we describe the results of a combined experimental theoretical study designed to understand and predict the dielectric properties of $SF_6$ and $SF_6+Ar$ mixtures. The electron transport, ionization, and attachment coefficients for pure $SF_6$ and gas mixtures containing $SF_6$ has been analysed over the E/N range $30{\sim}300Td$ by a two term Boltzrnann equation and by a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors, experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2% and 0.5% $SF_6+Ar$ mixtures were measured by time- of- flight method, The results show that the deduced electron drift velocities, the electron ionization or attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients and mean energy agree reasonably well with the experimental and theoretical for a rang of E/N values.

  • Energy distribution function in $SiH_4$ has been analysed over the E/N range $0.5{\sim}300Td$ and Pressure value 0.5, 1.0, 2.5 Torr by a two-term approximation Boltzmann equation method and by a Monte Carlo simulation. The motion has been calculated to give swarm parameters for the electron drift velocity, diffusion coefficient, electron ionization, mean energy and the electron energy distribution function. The electron energy distribution function has been analysed in $SiH_4$ at E/N=30, 50Td for a case of the equilibrium region in the mean electron energy and respective set of electron collision cross sections.

  • In order to reduce driving power consumption, we propose and fabricate a new structure of asymmetric SOI 1${\times}$2 thermo-optic switch that has a back side silicon trenched structure. Compared to conventional SOI thermo optic switches without heat sink structure, it shows an improvement of switching power reduction from about 4 watt to 1.8 watt without sacrificing cross talk of about 20 ㏈ at the light wavelength of 1.55 $\mu\textrm{m}$. Here we also described the main design consideration and fabrication procedure for the proposed device.

  • This paper describes the electron transport characteristic in $SiH_4$ gas calculated for range of E/N values from $0.5{\sim}300$(Td) using a set of electron collision cross sections determined by the authors and the values of electron swarm parameters are obtained for TOF method. The results gained that the value of an electron swarm parameter such as the electron drift velocity, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients with the experimental and theoretical for a range of E/N. The electron energy distributions function were analysed in monosilane at E/N : 30, 50(Td) for a case of equilibrium region in the mean electron energy. The validity of the results obtained has been confirmed by a TOF method.

  • The HELlOS-MASTER code system is verified through the benchmark of the critical experiments that were performed by RRC "Kurchatov Institute" with water-moderated hexagonally pitched lattices of highly enriched Uranium fuel rods (8Ow/o). We also used the same input by using the MCNP code that was described in the evaluation report, and compared our results with those of the evaluation report. HELlOS, developed by Scandpower A/S, is a two-dimensional transport program for the generation of group cross-sections, and MASTER, developed by KAERI, is a three-dimensional nuclear design and analysis code based on the two-group diffusion theory. It solves neutronics model with the AFEN (Analytic Function Expansion Nodal) method for hexagonal geometry. The results show that the HELIOSMASTER code system is fast and accurate enough to be used as nuclear core analysis tool for hexagonal geometry.ometry.

  • Flame characteristics in a double concentric burner has been studied experimentally. Air is supplied through a central nozzle, methane/air premixture is supplied in a inner annular part, and coflowing shield air is supplied to minimize outside disturbances. Depending on flow rate and concentration, various flame shapes can be observed. As the flow rate difference between central air jet and annular premixed jet is varied, several distinctive flames are observed. Conditions of partially premixed flames are further investigated; nozzle attached rich premixed flame, inner lifted flame, and outer lifted flame. Using the Abel transformation of digitized images of flames, cross- sectional images of flames can be obtained, from which overall structure of flames can be identified. PLIF measurement of OR radical was also conducted. OR radicals were mainly distributed in diffusion flame region. From the difference of OR distribution between nozzle attached and lifted flames, similarity of OR distribution between tribrachial flame and lifted flames in this study are observed.

  • Steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, which are widely employed in high-rise buildings, exhibit particular time-dependent behavior due to creep and shrinkage of the concrete, and this behavior may cause problems related to serviceability and structural stability. SRC columns also exhibit a time-dependent, cross-sectional relative humidity distribution that differs from reinforced concrete (RC) columns, due to the presence of an inner steel plate, which interferes with the moisture diffusion of concrete. This differential moisture distribution of SRC columns may reduce the drying shrinkage and the drying creep as contrasted with RC columns. Therefore, we propose that the differential moisture distribution be taken into account to accurately predict SRC column shortening.

  • The electron transport coefficients in $SF_6+N_2$ gas is analysed in range of E/N values from 100~900(Td) by a Monte Carlo simulation and Boltzmann method, using a set of electron collision cross sections determined by the authors. The result of the Monte Carlo simulation such as electron drift velocity, ionization and electron attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients in nearly agreement with the respective experimental and theoretical for a range of E/N.

  • Absidia zychae NRIC 1199 produced two forms of carboxypeptidase(CPZ-1 and CPZ-2) which were distinguished in their isoelectric points but had almost identical properties(1). The amino acid sequences for the N-terminal of both enzymes were the same (Tyr-Thr-Ser-Pro-Lys-Leu-Xaa-Asp-Pro-Asp-Val) and any significant difference was not observed between amino acid compositions of the two enzymes. The ouchterlony double diffusion technique using antibody raised against the CPZ-2 protein demonstrated a good cross-reaction between CPZ-1 and CPZ-2 Genomic Southern analysis showed only one gene encoding CPZ in the genome of Absidia zychae. However, a significant difference between two enzymes was observed on peptide map using Staphylococcus aureus V8 protease, distinguishable only one band, indicating that multiple forms of CPZ are caused by post-translational modification, such as deamidation.
