A patient (Hellman dental age IIIA) who had anterior cross bite due to functional factor was treated with activator. Following results were obtained: 1) Anterior cross bite was crorrected 3 months after the initial application of the appliance. 2) Comparing pretreatment records with posttreatment, the main effects were labioversion of upper incisors, increase of upper arch length and downward-backward rotation of the mandible. 3) There was no damage on teeth and periodontal tissues and the patient had normal occlusion 1 year after the treatment.

A girl (Hellman dental age IIC) with anterior cross bite was treated by means of the chincap and occlusal equilibration on deciduous canines. Following results were obtained; 1) The cross bite was corrected after 12 weeks of active treatment. 2) The terminal plane of deciduous molars had become 'a class II tendency' 3) The axial inclination of lower incisors were changed significantly.

Skeletal class III malocclusion with aterior deep bite is difficult to manage properly, especially in case of mild mandibular prognathism. We have designed lower anterior segmental osteotomy for improving the lower third of the facial contour. Considerable improvement of esthetic facial contour with correction of cross bite in anterior incisors was observed in patients with mandibular prognathism.

This study was undertaken to evaluate the cephalometric changes of the soft tissue and skeletal profile subsequent 10 the rapid palatal expansion in 25 Angle's Class III cases, ranging in age from six to fifteen years, with cross-bite of the anterior teeth, underdevelopment of maxilla and facial disharmony Following results were obtained: 1. ANS moved downward, Point A presented forward & downward movement increasing SNA and Point B presented backward & downward movement decreasing SNB. 2. Mandible was rotated to backward & forward and maxilla moved forward & downward with the bite opening and improvement of anterior teeth cross-bite. 3. Soft tissue on mandible was rotated to backward & forward following hard tissue changes causing the decrease of facial convexity angle and backward & downward rotation of Point B', Pog'. 4. Response of the upper lip was more significant in downward than forward direction, and correlated with the upper central incisor and mandible rotation. 5. Response of the lower lip was more significant in downward than backward direction, and correlated with the mandible rotation. 6. There was a rather high degree of correlation between skeletal profile and soft-tissue profile, 1 : LS, $\bar{1}$:Pog', Pog:LS, Pog:LI, Pog:Pog' in horizontal measurements and $\bar{1}$:Pog', Pog:LI, Pog:Pog' in vertical measurements.

The occurrence of osteochondroma, osteoma in mandibular condlye is rare. Sign and symptoms of enlargement of condyle are open bite, cross bite, myofascial symptoms, facial asymmetry. They are treated via condylectomy, subcondylar ostetomy, etc. We treated osteochondroma with condylectomy, osteoma with condylectomy & arthroplasty with titanium mesh & resin ball. Followings are the results 1. Condylectomy of osteochondroma resulted in good function & esthetics except slight deviation of mandible to the operation side during mouth opening. 2. Condylectomy & arthroplasty with titanium mesh & resin ball resulted in good function & esthetics & no deviation of mandible.

기능성 반대교합을 가진 성장기 환자의 경우 조기에 원인을 제거하여 골격성으로 이행하는 것을 방지하고 성장조절에 의해 악골관계를 개선함으로써 정상적인 기능과 안모를 유도해야 된다. 반대교합의 치료방법중 기능형 치료장치가 있는데, 그중 $Fr\ddot{a}nkel$장치물은 작용발휘의 기반으로서 vestibular region을 이용하는 것이 특징이며, 비정상적인 근육력을 차단하여 구강내 치열 및 악궁에 대한 힘의 불균형 상태를 개선하고, 결여되어 있는 근육의 긴장도를 증대시킴으로써 근육의 힘을 치아에 직접 미치지 않고, 악골 및 치아, 치조골을 양호하게 발육시킬 수 있다는 점에서 근육의 힘이 장치를 매개로 하여 직접 치아에 전달되어 치아이동을 얻게 되는 다른 장치와 구별된다고 할 수 있다. 이에, 상악중절치 맹출시기의 전치부 반대교합을 FR III로 치료하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 상악의 전방성장과 상악전치의 순측경사가 일어났다. 2. 하악의 후하방회전에 의해 하안면고가 증가하였다. 3. 정상적인 하악골과 열성장된 상악골을 가진 경우, 수직피개교합과 역수평피개교합이 더 클수록 더 좋은 예후를 나타냈다.

Orthodontists want why the patients want orthodontic treatment. Demand and need for orthodontics is very important factors of cooperation and management. Chief complaint would be different according to the race and culture. Our results show that in the control group, Korean female adolescents[chief complaint is cowding$(30.6\%)$, spacing$(26.5\%)$, upper anterior protrusion$(18.4\%)$, anterior cross bite$(8.2\%)$ in order. Korean female adolescents considered anterior cross bite is more nonacceptable than spaeing and anterior protrusion. The purpose of orthodontics seemed to enhance esthetic, dental health, and to improve oral function.

Patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) usually present unilateral cross bite due to collapse of the maxillary minor segment. Unequal expansion of the palate is needed to resolve this problem in UCLP patient. Unilateral segmental palatal distraction (USPD) after Le Fort I osteotomy and the oblique placed orthodontic expansion screw (Hyrax) can be used to correct the unilateral cross bite. 1his case report describes the effects of USPD of the collapsed maxillary minor segment on patient with unilateral cleft lip and palate.

The patient, 16 years female, complained of anterior cross-bite and retrusion of maxilla. Mandibular incisors occluded labially to maxillary incisors. Normally developed mandibular arch in normal elation to facial line, S-N-Pog was within normal range. Cross-bite of anterior teeth was corrected by means of Class III elastics under multibanded system. Space for alignment of crowding of upper anterior teeth was regained by means of cervical headgear and sliding yoke. She gained good alignment of anterior teeth and attractive facial profile after 2 years.
