This paper deals with the instability analysis of concrete pipes conveying viscous fluid-nanoparticle mixture. The fluid is mixed by $AL_2O_3$ nanoparticles where the effective material properties of fluid are obtained by mixture rule. The applied force by the internal fluid is calculated by Navier-Stokes equation. The structure is simulated by classical cylindrical shell theory and using energy method and Hamilton's principle, the motion equations are derived. Based on Navier method, the critical fluid velocity of the structure is calculated and the effects of different parameters such as fluid velocity, volume percent of nanoparticle in fluid and geometrical parameters of the pipe are considered. The results present that with increasing the volume percent of nanoparticle in fluid, the critical fluid velocity increase.
The determination of the critical buckling load of multistory structures is important since this load is used in second order analysis. It is more realistic to determine the critical buckling load of multistory structures using the whole system instead of independent elements. In this study, a method is proposed for designating the system critical buckling load of torsion-free structures of which the load-bearing system consists of frames and shear walls. In the method presented, the multistory structure is modeled in accordance with the continuous system calculation model and the differential equation governing the stability case is solved using the differential transform method (DTM). At the end of the study, an example problem is solved to show the conformity of the presented method with the finite elements method (FEM).

This study aims to assess the damage tolerance of the wing structure of aged aircraft with long-term service through the fatigue crack growth analysis and tests. For the fatigue-critical locations (FCL) W2 and W4 in the wing structure, the fatigue stress spectrum was derived based on a previous study. Thereafter, a crack propagation analysis for the FCLs was conducted using the commercial software $NASGRO^{TM}$. The algorithm for the fatigue stress spectrum was verified. Fatigue crack growth tests were then performed for two types of specimens: Type #1 was extracted from the wing structure of aged aircraft, and Type #2 was made of the same material as the wing structure. By comparing the experimental results of these specimens, we assessed the damage tolerance of the wing structure of aged aircraft with service time.

The molecular structure influences the thermal behavior of HTM. For OLED the glass transition temperature and evaporation temperature are critical. We report how changes in structure cause changes on both parameters. The results may be of interest for chemists when they design new molecule structures for OLED.
The application of critical excitation method with displacement-based objective function for multi degree of freedom (MDOF) systems is investigated. To this end, a new critical excitation method is developed to find the critical input motion of a MDOF system as a synthetic accelerogram. The upper bound of earthquake input energy per unit mass is considered as a new constraint for the problem, and its advantages are discussed. Considering this constraint, the critical excitation method is then used to generate synthetic accelerograms for MDOF models corresponding to three shear buildings of 10, 16, and 22 stories. In order to demonstrate the reliability of generated accelerograms to estimate dynamic response of the structures, three target ground motions with considerable level of energy contents are selected to represent "real critical excitation" of each model, and the method is used to re-generate these ground motions. Afterwards, linear dynamic analyses are conducted using these accelerograms along with the generated critical excitations, to investigate the key parameters of response including maximum displacement, maximum interstory drift, and maximum absolute acceleration of stories. The results show that the generated critical excitations can make an acceptable estimate of the structural behavior compared to the target ground motions. Therefore, the method can be reliably implemented to generate critical excitation of the structure when real one is not available.

This study was conducted in order to know the internal application of the critical strain graph. To evaluate critical strain graph, we carried out an uniaxial compression test with some of internal rocks: sandstone, shale, weathered granite, and pink granitic. Based on the uniaxial compression test, we deduced relations among critical strain, failure strain, uniaxial compression strength and modulus of elasticity. As a result, the study has found out the rocks, which have been tested, can be possibly evaluated by critical strain graph.
Time-dependent buckling of embedded straight concrete columns armed with Silicon dioxide($SiO_2$) nano-particles exposed to fire is investigated in the present study for the fire time. The column is simulated mathematically with Timoshenko beam model. The governing mass conservation equations to describe heat and moisture transport in concrete containing free water, water vapor, and dry air in conjunction with the conversion of energy are considered. The characteristics of the equivalent composite are determined using Mori-Tanaka approach. The foundation around the column is simulated with spring and shear layer. Employing nonlinear strains-displacements, energy methods and Hamilton's principal, the governing equations are derived. Differential quadrature method (DQM) is used in order to obtain the critical buckling load and critical buckling time of structure. The influences of volume percent of $SiO_2nano-particles$, geometrical parameters, elastic foundation and concrete porosity are investigated on the time-dependent buckling behaviours of structure. Numerical results indicate that reinforcing the concrete column with $SiO_2nano-particles$, the structure becomes stiffer and the critical buckling load and time increase.
An experimental study was performed to evaluate the effects of surface coating and an enhanced insulation structure on the downward facing boiling process and the critical heat flux on the outer surface of a hemispherical vessel. Steady-state boiling tests were conducted in the Subscale Boundary Layer Boiling (SBLB) facility using an enhanced vessel/insulation design for the cases with and without vessel coatings. Based on the boiling data, CHF correlations were obtained for both plain and coated vessels. It was found that the nucleate boiling rates and the local CHF limits for the case with micro-porous layer coating were consistently higher than those values for a plain vessel at the same angular location. The enhancement in the local CHF limits and nucleate boiling rates was mainly due to the micro-porous layer coating that increased the local liquid supply rate toward the vaporization sites on the vessel surface. For the case with thermal insulation, the local CHF limit tended to increase from the bottom center at first, then decrease toward the minimum gap location, and finally increase toward the equator. This non-monotonic behavior, which differed significantly from the case without thermal insulation, was evidently due to the local variation of the two-phase motions in the annular channel between the test vessel and the insulation structure.
Fluid velocity analysis on the instability of pipes reinforced by silica nanoparticles ($SiO_2$) is presented in this paper. Mori-Tanaka model is used for obtaining the effective materials properties of the nanocomposite structure considering agglomeration effects. The well known Navier-Stokes equation is used for obtaining the applied force of fluid to pipe. Based on the Reddy higher-order shear deformation theory, the motion equations are derived based on energy method and Hamilton's principal. The frequency and critical fluid velocity of structure are calculated using differential quadrature method (DQM) so that the effects of different parameters such as volume fractions of SiO2 nanoparticles, SiO2 nanoparticles agglomeration, boundary conditions and geometrical parameters of pipes are considered on the nonlinear vibration and instability of the pipe. Results indicate that increasing the volume fractions of SiO2 nanoparticles, the frequency and critical fluid velocity of the structure are increased. Furthermore, considering SiO2 nanoparticles agglomeration, decreases the frequency and critical fluid velocity of the pipe.
This study investigates the free vibration and buckling analyses of isotropic curved plate structures fixed at all ends. The Kirchhoff-Love Plate Theory (KLPT) and Finite Element Method (FEM) are employed to model the curved structure. In order to perform the finite element analysis, a four-node quadrilateral element with 5 degrees of freedom (DOF) at each node is utilized. Additionally, the drilling effect (θz) is considered as minimal to satisfy the DOF of the structure. Lagrange's equation of motion is used in order to obtain the first ten natural frequencies and the critical buckling values of the structure. The effects of various radii of curvatures and aspect ratio on the natural frequency and critical buckling load values for the single-bay and two-bay curved frames are investigated within this scope. A computer code based on finite element analysis is developed to perform free vibration and buckling analysis of curved plate frames. The natural frequency and critical buckling load values of the present study are compared with ANSYS R18.2 results. It has been concluded that the results of the present study are in good agreement with ANSYS results for different radii of curvatures and aspect ratio values of both single-bay and two-bay structures.
