항만건설을 위한 케이슨 들고리의 안전성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Safety of Lifting Cable for Construction of Coastal Structures)

  • 본 논문은 케이슨의 인양작업중 Fitting Anchor의 취성파괴로 인한 들고리의 붕괴원인을 조사하기 위한 실험적 연구이다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 응력해석을 통하여 들고리의 붕괴메카니즘을 분석하고 이를 실제 붕괴과정과 비교한다. 본 연구에서는 파괴된 강재에 대한 파면해석 뿐만아니라 화학성분시험, 인장시험 및 샤르피 V-노치 충격시험을 실시한다. 그리고 이의 시험 결과를 정상적인 강재에 대한 시험결과와 비교한다. 본 연구의 거시적, 미시적인 방법으로 결함을 관찰한 결과, Fitting Anchor 내부에 원주방향으로 나타난 표면결함은 케이슨의 진수시 발생하는 들고리의 인장응력이 작용하기 전에 발생한 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 균열선단의 응력집중이 발생하여 작용응력보다 큰 응력이 결함에 발생한 것임을 알 수 있다. 또한, 잠재한 결함의 크기가 임계값 이상으로 증가하여 본 연구대상 강재의 응력확대계수가 증가하였을 것으로 판단된다. 그래서 균열선단의 응력확대계수가 본 강재의 파괴인성보다 크게 되어 케이슨의 인양작업중에 취성파괴를 일으킨 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구결과에 따르면 케이슨 들고리의 붕괴는 Fitting Anchor의 취성파괴로 발생한 것으로 사료된다.

현가장치재의 피로수명향상 공법개발에 관한 연구 (A Study of Development Methods of Fatigue Life Improvement for the Suspension Material)

  • The development of new materials with light weight and high strength has become vital to the machinery, aircraft and auto industries. However, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on adopting residual stress(in this thesis). The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity(57, 70, 83, 96 m/sec) based on Shot-peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. By using the methods mentioned above, the following conclusions have been drawn. 1. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the Un-peened material. And in stage I, ΔKth, the threshold stress intensity factor, of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts unlike the Un-peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the Shot-peened material was higher than that of the Un-peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN. 2. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Shot-peened material than in the Un-peened material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation.

피로 균열 전파 거동에 대한 실험식 (An Experimental Equation on the Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Behavior)

  • We propose the crack growth rate equation which applied over three regions (threshold region, stable region, unstable region) of fatigue crack propagation. Constant stress amplitude fatigue tests are conducted for four materials under three stress ratios of R=0.05, R=0.2 and R=0.4. Materials which have different mechanical properties i.e. stainless steel, low carbon steel, medium carbon steel and aluminum alloy are used. The fatigue crack growth rate equation is given by $da/dN={\beta} (1-R)^{\delta}\({\DELTA}K-{\DELTA}K_t)^{\alpha} / (K_{cf}-K_{max})$${\alpha}, {\beta}$ , and ${\delta}$ are constants, and ${\Delta}K_t$ is stress intensity factor range at low ${\Delta}K$ region. The constants are obtained from nonlinear least square method. $K_{ef}$is critical fatigue stress intensity factor. The relation between half crack length and number of cycles obtained by integrating the crack growth rate equation is in agreement with the experimental data. It is also experimented with constant maximum stress and decreasing stress ratios, and the fatigue growth rate of each material is in accord with the proposed equation.

  • 샤피충격시험은 동적하중 하에 있는 고분자 재료의 거동을 이해하는데 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 샤피충격시험장치에서 얻어지는 파단에너지를 사용하여 나일론 소재 샤피 시편의 노치각도에 따른 에너지 해방율을 구하는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 샤피충격시험장치를 계장화하여 최대 하중과 파단 시까지 소요되는 에너지 등의 파손인자들을 산출하였다. 그리고 노치각도에 따른 동적파괴 인성치와 유한요소법을 사용하여 중앙집중 하중 하에서 사피 시편의 노치각도에 따른 응력분포를 산출하였다.

Fatigue crack growth and remaining life estimation of AVLB components

  • The fatigue cracks initiate and propagate in the Armored Vehicle Launch Bridge (AVLB) components, especially like the splice doubler angle, splice plate, and bottom chord, due to the cyclic loading by repeated AVLB-launchings and tank-crossings. In this study, laboratory fatigue tests were conducted on six aluminum 2014-T6, four aluminum 7050-T76511, and four ASTM A36 steel compact-tension specimens to evaluate the crack growth behavior of the materials used for the components. The experimental results provide the relationship (Paris Law) between crack growth rate, da/dn, and stress intensity range, ${\Delta}K$, whose material dependent constants C and m can later be used in the life estimation of the components. Finite Element Method (FEM) was used to obtain the stress intensity factor, K, of the components with cracks. Because of the complexity of loading conditions and component geometry, several assumptions and simplifications are made in the FEM modeling. The FEM results, along with the results obtained from laboratory fatigue tests, are then utilized to estimate critical crack length and remaining life of the components.

Prediction of premature separation of bonded CFRP plates from strengthened steel beams using a fracture criterion

  • This paper presents a method for predicting premature separation of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) plates from strengthened steel beams. The fracture criterion based on material-induced singularity is formulated in terms of a singular intensity factor. Static test on double strap joints was selected to provide the critical stress intensity factor in the criterion because good degree of accuracy and consistency of experimental data can be expected compared with the unsymmetrically loaded single lap joints. The debond/separation loads of steel beams with different CFRP lengths were measured and compared with those predicted from the criterion. Good agreement between the test results and the prediction was found.

  • Fracture properties for LEFM, S-FPZ and NS-FPZ models were determined using by finite element method and energy balance from the experimental results of three-point bend tests. For the LEFM model the stress intensity factor needed to increase continuously with crack extension, and for the S-FPZ model the fracture process zone characteristics need to change continuously if the critical stress intensity factor was to remain constant. The LEFM model showed the largest resistance and the slowest crack extension, while the NS-FPZ model showed the smallest resistance and the fastest crack extension. The responses for the S-FPZ model were intermediate between those for the LEFM and NS-FPZ models and the total fracture energy densities for the S-FPZ and NS-FPZ models and the total fracture energy densities for the S-FPZ and NS-FPZ models were equal.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근에 개발된 직물 탄소섬유강화 복합재료의 파괴인성치를 정 량적으로 결정하고 파괴거동을 조사하고자 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 이 재료에 선형 탄성파괴역학의 적용여부를 알아보고, R곡선을 이용하여 균열의 생성점 및 불안정 파 괴점의 파괴인성치를 정확히 구하며, 주사형 전자현미경을 통해 파단면 및 균열 성장 시점을 관찰하여 파괴거동을 조사하는데 있다.

  • The effects of chemical treatment on Kevlar-29 fibers have been studied in a composite system. The surface characteristics of the Kevlar-29 fibers were characterized by pH, acid-base value and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The mechanical interfacial properties of final composites were studied by interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$). Also, the impact properties of the composites were investigated in the differentiating studies between initiation and propagation energies, and ductile index (DI) along with maximum farce and total energy. It was found that the chemical treatment with phosphoric acid ($H_3PO_4$) solution significantly affected the degree of adhesion at interfaces between fibers and resin matrix, resulting in improving the mechanical interfacial strength of the composites. This was probably due to the presence of chemical polar groups on Kevlar surfaces, leading to an increment of interfacial binding force in a composite system.

  • 본 연구에서는 두 가지 열잠재성 양이온 촉매인 triphenyl benzyl phosphoinium hexa-fluoroantimonate (TBPH)와 benzyl 2-methylpyrazinium hexafluoroantimonate (BMPH)를 새로이 합성하였다. 그리핀 TBPH 혹은 BMPH 1 phr에 의해 개시되어진 이관능성 에폭시 수지(diglycidylether of bisphenol A, DGEBA)의 열 및 기계적 특성들을 연구하였다. 그 실험적인 결과들로서, 에폭시/TBPH 시스템은 에폭시/BMPH 시스템 보다 더 높은 경화 온도와 임계응력 세기인자 ($K_{IC}$) 값을 보였다. 이것은 TBPH에서 4개의 페닐기의 느린 열확산 속도와 벌크 구조 때문으로 사료된다. 그러나, Coats-Redfern 방법에 의하여 결정된 분해 활성화 에너지는 TBPH의 경우가 더 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 TBPH의 입체장애에 의해서 끊어진 짧은 사슬 구조가 발달되었기 때문인 것으로 사료된다.
