The railway signaling system, which controls the course of trains and the distance between trains, is a safety critical system of the railway system because derailment or collision of trains can occur if unsafe failure is generated by any fault. The international standards of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety of railway applications require that the safety of functions be guaranteed in safety critical systems; system reliability and safety are quantitatively estimated and demonstrated by the failure rates of devices. The development of technology has accelerated the development of railway signaling systems. Existing devices, which have already been verified as to their safety, are applied with special user requirements to reflect the new operation scenario. It is found that the reliability and safety of the devices are different depending on individual application. Therefore, the reliability of the railway signaling system must be considered while complying with the international standards; this requires that the initial failure rate be estimated and demonstrated using fault data gathered over several years. This paper shows a method for demonstrating the initial estimated failure rate and suggests a fault data collection method and an overall process that is based on probability.

In railroad operation, turnout is the device designed to provide very critical functions of moving the train to the neighboring rail. It's the only movable section among the rail and track equipment, which has a complicated structure and as rapid movement between the wheel and rail during operation is unavoidable, the safety and the vibration caused by the impact load of the passing train becomes always the major concern. Response to rail vibration tends to vary depending on physical properties of the rail, rail base and the ground, making it difficult to estimate the quantitative outcome through the measurement. Thus, experimental or empirical approach, rather than an analytic method, has been more commonly employed to deal with the ground vibration. To predict the vibration of the turnout, an experimental value and the measured values are applied in parallel to the factors with a high degree of uncertainty. This study hence was intended to compare and analyze the vibration values measured at the crossing part of manganese turnout by type of train and turnout and distance, as well as predict the intensity of vibration generated at the crossing part of manganese turnout when tilting train accelerates.
The assessment of personal exposure is a critical component in population-based epidemiologic studies of air pollution. This study was conducted to apply and compare the four exposure estimation methods of individual-level to air pollution concentration in a cohort including 2,283 subjects in Gwangyang, Korea. Individual-level exposure of air pollution were estimated using multiple approaches, including average across all monitors, nearest monitor, and spatial interpolation by inverse distance weighting and kriging. The mean concentrations of $PM_{10}$, $NO_2$, $SO_2$, CO, $O_3$ by four exposure estimation methods were slightly different but not significantly different from each other. Cross-validation showed that kriging was more accurate than other exposure estimation methods because kriging has probably predicted individual exposure levels equivalent to residential locations after estimating the parameters of a model according to the spatial surface of air pollution concentration. These data support that spatial interpolation methods may provide better estimates than selecting the value from the nearest monitor and averaging across values from all monitors by reflecting spatial attributes of air pollution on personal level.
Fare is critical variable when deciding project feasibility for a monorail system in tour regions. This study aims to estimate optimal fare balancing operators and users. An object of this study is Wolmi-eunha circulation monorail at Jung-Gu, Wolmido in Incheon metropolitan city. This study introduces a stepwise optimization technique to decide relevant fare ranges between operator's cost and user's cost. We found that the optimized station interval is 0.532km, the optimized headway is 0.206hour, optimal number of stations is 12, optimal number of vehicles is 3. Using these optimized variables, minimum user cost and minimum operator cost can be calculated. Optimal fare range is calculated from 1,261 Won to 5,063 Won. It is also found that sightseeing transport system has less sensitivity on access cost because distance differences among sightseeing transport stations located in the tour regions are negligible.

The AF track circuit that detecting train position and transmitting various train control data for DTG to the train on-board is composed of single operation system. If a failure occurs on this system, the driver should be operate the train by manually until the system is restored, because the system cannot control switch machines and signals by automatically. In this process the human error affects to the train delay, collision, derailment and critical safety accident. Therefore, this document has analyzed the effects that each failure mode influences on system and train, and quantified the failure valuation point and class. Basis on this quantified analysis result, MTBF increased and MTTR decreased and failure number also decreased by adopting the independent installation of power supply, the replacement of defected capacitors, the installation of resister cooling system and the improvement of maintenance methods. And the failure factors of AF track circuits were decreased by conducting the preventive maintenance which is a quantitative way of maintenance system by experience.

The application of BZO (Boron-doped Zinc Oxide) films use as the TCO(Transparent Conductive Oxide) material for display and solar cell industries, where the conductivity of the BZO films plays a critical role for improvement of cell performance. Thin BZO films are deposited on glass substrates by using RF sputter system. Then charging flow rates of O2 gas from zero to 10 sccm, thereby controlling the impurity concentration of BZO. BZO deposited on soda lime glass and RF power was 300 W, frequency was 13.56 MHz, and working pressure was $5.0{\times}10-6$ Torr. The Substrate and glass between distance 200 mm. We measured resistivity, conductivity, mobility by hall measurement system. Optical properties measured by photo voltaic device analysis system. We measured surface build according to oxygen flow rate from XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy) system. The profile of the energy distribution of the electrons emitted from BZO films by the Auger neutralization is measured and rescaled so that Auger self-convolution arises, revealing the detail structure of the valence band. It may be observed coefficient ${\gamma}$ of the secondary electron emission from BZO by using ${\gamma}$-FIB (Gamma-Focused Ion Beam) system. We observed the change in electrical conductivity by correlation of the valence band structure. Therefore one of the key issues in BZO films may be the valence band that detail structure dominates performance of solar cell devices. Demonstrating the secondary electron emission by the Auger neutralization of ions is useful for the determination of the characteristics of BZO films for solar cell and display developments.

The purpose of this study is to design and implement the web-based counselling system in aspects of learning type and method by PBL in Constructivism. Learning problem is classified into learning difficulty, learning disability, emotional disability, memory/cognition, ADHD(attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), classwork, and school circumstance. Counselling for individual, offline visit, parents, electronic mail, and group with professionals who were involved in the design and implementation of learning counselling were used to supplement the clinic process for learning. The result of this study aims to administer the distance counselling system for learning without prominent computer knowledge. Each learner can solve diverse private learning problems which can be widely applied for situated learning. Also these online strategies by PBL indicate that providing learning types and methods are critical for overall understanding in online counselling system for learning.
The effective length method for flexural (column) buckling has been used for many decades but its use is somewhat limited in various contemporary design codes to moderately slender structures with elastic critical load factor (${\lambda}_{cr}$) less than 3 to 5. In pace with the use of higher grade steel in recent years, the influence of buckling in axial buckling resistance of a column becomes more important and the over-simplified assumption of effective length factor can lead to an unsafe, an uneconomical or a both unsafe and uneconomical solution when some members are over-designed while key elements are under-designed. Effective length should not normally be taken as the distance between nodes multiplied by an arbitrary factor like 0.85, 1.0, 2.0 etc. Further, the classification of non-sway and sway-sensitive frames makes the conventional design procedure tedious to use and, more importantly, limited to simple regular frames. This paper describes the practical use of second-order analysis with section capacity check allowing for $P-{\delta}$ and $P-{\Delta}$ effects together with member and system imperfections. Most commercial software considers only the $P-{\Delta}$ effect, but not member and frame imperfections nor $P-{\delta}$ effect, and engineers must be very careful in their uses. A verification problem is also given for validation of software for this type of powerful second-order analysis and design. It is a trend for popular and advanced national design codes in using the second-order analysis as a norm for analysis and design of steel structures while linear analysis may only be used in very simple structures.
A pressurizer is a major equipment system in a nuclear power plant (NPP) and controls the reactor cooling system pressure within the allowable range. Faults in the pressurizer can be critical to the NPP; therefore, early fault detection in the pressurizer is significant for NPP safety. This study applies Mahalanobis Taguchi system (MTS), which is one of the promising pattern classification methods, based on the Mahalanobis distance concept and Taguchi quality engineering theory to the early fault detection problem of the pressurizer pressure control system. We conducted experiments using data from full scope NPP simulator based on a pressurizer pressure transmitter faults scenario to validate the faults detection performance of MTS. As a result, MTS can rapidly detect the faults compared to conventional faults detection based on single sensor monitoring.

A collision-free trajectory planning algorithm using an iterative learning concept is proposed for dual robot arms in a 3-D common workspace to accurately follow their specified paths with constant velocities. Specifically, a collision-free trajectory minimizing the trajectory error is obtained first by employing the linear programming technique. Then the total operating time is iteratively adjusted based on the maximum trajectory error of the previous iteration so that the collision-free trajectory has no deviation from the specified path and also that the operating time is near-minimal. To show the validity of the proposed algorithm, a numerical example is presented based on two planar robots.
