  • his paper develops the systematic and quantitative priority-determining method for national investment using the framework of evaluating R&D. This study proposes multi criteria for evaluating the R&D of New & Renewable Energy through analysing the attribute of 11 types of energy. The framework is constituted by 4 criteria, the political urgency, economic impact, regional constraint. and technological attribute and the each criteria has 3 or 4 sub-criteria. These sub-criteria are weighted using AHP.

  • This study is to extract landmark buildings for pedestrian navigation from the existing spatial data sets automatically. At first, we defined candidates for landmark based on sight of pedestrian, then extracted final landmark by evaluating attributes of each candidate. The attribute is evaluated with relative or absolute criteria depending on the nature of each attribute. Landmarks extracted through the proposed method are compared to existing landmarks for vehicle and assessment of the validity and the applicability is performed. As a result, extracted Landmarks are expected to help guiding pedestrian effectively.

  • This research explores the differences of two consumption behaviors from the thinking style they elicit. Specifically, we predict that more utilitarian attributes(vs. hedonic attributes) may be used when evaluating utilitarian products whereas more hedonic attributes(vs. utilitarian attributes) may be used when evaluating hedonic products. In addition, this research considered two different thinking styles: rational thinking style and experiential thinking style, and try to find out whether different product attribute information could elicit different thinking style and whether the thinking style has any effect on product evaluation. The data reported in this research demonstrates the following results. Firstly, people use different criteria when judging different types of product. That is, when judging utilitarian product, they are more likely to use utilitarian attribute as evaluation criteria, on the contrary they inclined to use hedonic attribute as evaluation criteria when choosing hedonic product. Secondly, different types of attribute informations could elicit different thinking style. Utilitarian attribute informations elicit rational thinking style whereas hedonic attribute informations elicit experiential thinking style. Finally, if people engage in rational thinking elicited in processing utilitarian attribute informations, the evaluation of utilitarian product is enhanced. But even though people engage in experiential thinking in processing hedonic attribute informations, the evaluation of hedonic product is not improved.

  • The data model for structural experiment information formally organizes the information involved in the structural experiments before the data repository using the data model is implemented. The data model is particularly required for the data repositories for the large-scale structural experiment information and the general information for various types of experiments, such as the NEEShub Project Warehouse developed by NEES. This paper proposes criteria for evaluating the organization and the use of design model for structural experiment information. The term of AVE(attribute value existence) indicates the ratio of attributes who values exist in objects, and then used for defining the Attribute AVE for the use of an attribute, the Class AVE for a class, the Class Level AVE for a class including its lower-level classes, the Project AVE for a project including all classes at class levels, and the Data Model AVE for a data model including projects. These criteria are applied to the projects in the NEES data model, and it is successively possible to numerically describe the evaluation of the use of classes and attributes in the data model.

  • Executive information systems (EIS) developers are faced with an increasingly difficult choice problem in the evaluation and selection of software packages. For many reasons, they frequently must depend on identification and evaluation of features of packages. When EIS software evaluation is regarded as an unstructured or semi-structured group decision making problem, the most appropriate decision-aiding methods are needed to help effective group interaction. This paper examines evaluation criteria of full-featured EIS packages and considers the priority of these criteria using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Two exploratory phases are presented. In the first phase, an approach combining the AHP with the linear weighted attribute method is presented to computer qualities of some packages. In the second phase, the decision making group includes EIS developers, users, and vendors to prioritize evaluation criteria.

It is necessary to efficiently utilize these limited and expensive resources as much as possible up to given line capacity. So far, we treat the line capacity as the criteria for evaluating investment alternatives or for restricting train frequencies, and this criteria is calculated statical and experimental numerical formula. But, line capacity has special attribute that changes dynamically according to operational conditions, so there is a need of new line capacity estimation system. In this paper, we present systematic line capacity analysis model. The proposed model has three main components; TPS(tain performance simulator), PES(parameter evaluation simulator), LCS(line capacity simulator).

All of these is intended to increase transport capacity by improving line capacity So far, we treat line capacity as the criteria for evaluating investment alternatives or for restricting tram frequencies, and this criteria is calculated statical and experimental numerical formula. But, line capacity has special attribute that change dynamically according to operational condition, so there is a need of new line capacity estimation system. The Purpose of this paper is to present a new line capacity estimation system based on the probability simulation and its applications.
