노치가 있는 콘크리트의 인장파괴 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Tensile Failure of a Notched Concrete)

  • 본 연구에서는 유한요소법을 이용한 콘크리트 인장균열의 발생 및 전파양상을 모형화하기 위하여 분산균열(smeared crack) 모델의 일종인 2차원 균질화된 균열(homogenized crack)모형을 제안하였다. 제안한 모형은 인장균열면을 따라 속도 불연속계(velocity discontinuity)를 도입하고 평형방정식 빛 적합방정식을 이용하여 인장균열을 포함한 콘크리트의 구성방정식을 유도할 수 있으며 인장균열이 소성연화거동을 하는 경우. 유한요소망내에서 객관성이 유지될 수 있음을 밝히기 위하여 1차원 영역내에서 엄밀해를 유도하였다. 제안한 모형을 이용한 1차원 또는 2차원 유한요소 해석은 기존의 노치를 포함한 콘크리트 시편에 대한 실험과 상응하는 결과를 보였을 뿐만 아니라 유한요소망의 객관성이 유지되고 있음을 밝혔다. 제안한 모형은 큰 어려움없이 3차원 영역으로 확대할 수 있을 것이며 이에 대한 추가적인 연구가 계속될 것이다.

  • In this paper, dynamic photoelastic hybrid method is developed and its validity is certified. The dynamic photoelastic hybrid method can be used on the obtaining of dynamic stress intensity factors and dynamic stress components. The effect of crack length on the dynamic stress intensity factors is less than those on the static stress intensity factors. When structures are under the dynamic mixed mode load, dynamic stress intensity factor of mode I is almost produced. Dynamic loading device manufactured in this research can be used on the research of dynamic behavior when mechanical resonance is produced and when crack is propagated with the constant velocity.

  • Ultrasonic pulse velocity method is applied many times for measuring surface crack depth of concrete in case of diagnosis of concrete structures. By the way, this method has an error accompanying measured surface crack depth of concrete because there are many uncertainty factors. So, it is necessary to study for an error of this method affected by these uncertainty factors. Two error factors(uncertainty factors) are tested and analyzed in this study. One is for an error according to measuring the propagation time of ultrasonic wave and the arrangement distance of transducers. Another is for an error according to positioning the transducer as a distance to surface crack from the transducer.

Damage propagation in CFRP laminates subjected to low velocity impact and static indentation

  • This paper describes a damage accumulation mechanism in cross-ply CFRP laminates $[0_2/90_2]_{2S}$ subjected to out-of-plane loading. Drop-weight impact and static indentation tests were carried out, and induced damage was observed by ultrasonic C-scan and an optical microscope. Both tests gave essentially the same results for damage modes, sizes, and load-deformation history. First, a crack occurred in the bottom $0^{\circ}$ layer accompanying some delamination along the crack caused by bending stress. Then, transverse cracks occurred in the middle $90^{\circ}$ layer with decreasing contact force between the specimen and the indenter. Measured local strains near the impact point showed that the stress state changed from a bending dominant state to an in-plane tensile dominant state. A cohesive interface element was used to simulate the propagation of multiple delaminations and transverse cracks under static indentation. Two types of analytical models are considered, one with multiple delaminations and the other with both multiple delaminations and transverse cracks. The damage obtained for the model with only multiple delaminations was quite different from that obtained from the experiment. However, the results obtained from the model with both delaminations and transverse cracks well explain the characteristics of the damage obtained in the experiment. The existence of the transverse cracks is essential to form the characteristic impact damage.

  • Stress intensity factor of semi-infinite parallel crack propagation with constant velocity in dissimilar orthotropic strip under out-of-plane clamped desplacement is investigated. Using Fourier integral transforms the boundary value problem is derived by a pair of dual integral equation and finally reduced to a single Wiener-Hopf equation. By applying Wiener-Hopf technique the equation is solved. Applying this result the asymptotic stress fields near the crack tip are determined, from which the stress intensity factor is obtained in closed form. The more the ratio of anisotropy or the ratio of bi-material shear modulus increase in the main material including the crack, the more the stress intensity factor increases. Discontinuity in the stress intensity factor is found as the parallel crack approaches the interface. In special case, the results of isotropic materials agree well with those by the previous researchers.

  • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industries is requiring high strength of components. Therefore this requirement is accomplished as the process of shot-peening method that the compressive residual stress is made on the metal surface as one of various improvement methods. Special research is, therefore, needed about compressive residual stress on the metal surface in the process of shot-peening method. Therefore, in this paper the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in environmental condition(temperature) and mechanical condition(shot velocity, stress ratio) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. By using the methods mentioned above, the following conclusions have been drawn. (1) The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the shot-peened material was lower than that of the un-peened one. In high temperature range. fatigue crack growth rate decreased with increasing temperature range, while fatigue crack growth rate increased by decreasing temperature in low temperature. (2) Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot-peened material than in the un-peened material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation.

Double bonded Cooper-Naghdi micro sandwich cylindrical shells with porous core and CNTRC face sheets: Wave propagation solution

  • In this paper, wave propagation of double-bonded Cooper-Naghdi micro sandwich cylindrical shells with porous core and carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) face sheets are investigated subjected to multi-physical loadings with temperature dependent material properties. The governing equations of motion are derived by Hamilton's principle. Then, the influences of various parameters such as wave number, CNT volume fraction, temperature change, Skempton coefficient, material length scale parameter, porosity coefficient on the phase velocity of double-bonded micro sandwich shell are taken into account. It is seen that by increasing of Skempton coefficient, the phase velocity decreases for higher wave number and the results become approximately the constant. Also, by increasing of the material length scale parameter, the cut of frequency increases, because the stiffness of micro structure increases. The obtained results for this article can be used to detect, locate and quantify crack.

현가장치재의 피로수명향상 공법개발에 관한 연구 (A Study of Development Methods of Fatigue Life Improvement for the Suspension Material)

  • The development of new materials with light weight and high strength has become vital to the machinery, aircraft and auto industries. However, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on adopting residual stress(in this thesis). The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity(57, 70, 83, 96 m/sec) based on Shot-peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. By using the methods mentioned above, the following conclusions have been drawn. 1. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the Un-peened material. And in stage I, ΔKth, the threshold stress intensity factor, of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts unlike the Un-peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the Shot-peened material was higher than that of the Un-peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN. 2. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Shot-peened material than in the Un-peened material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation.

단계별 손상에 따른 화강암의 손상 발달특성 연구 (A study on damage propagation characteristics of granite in different damage levels)

  • 화강암의 응력하에서의 손상발달특성을 연구하기 위해 국내의 조립, 중립, 세립 화강암 시료를 채취하였으며, 일축압축에 의한 손상 전과 후에 탄성파속도시험, 투수성시험이 시료의 물리적 특성을 파악하기 위해 수행되었고, 시료의 단면에 발생된 크랙의 육안관찰을 용이하게 하기 위하여 셀롤로즈 아세테이트 필름 복제법이 사용되었다. 그리고 아세테이트필 상의 크랙을 좀더 명확하게 촬영하기 위해, 암시야조명을 이용한 근접촬영법이 적용되었다. 개인용 컴퓨터와 그래픽 프로그램을 이용하여 크랙을 확대 후 스케치하여 측정함으로써 시료단면에 발생한 크랙을 입도 별로 비교 분석하였다. 손상이 발생한 후, 조립·중립화강암이 세립화강암에 비해 상대적으로 더 낮은 탄성파속도, 더 높은 투수성을 가졌으며, 더 많은 크랙 발생을 보였다.

The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity(1800, 2200, 2600, 3000rpm) based on Shot-peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. By using the methose mentioned above, we arrived at the following conclusions; 1. The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the Un-peened material. In stage I, $\Delta$K$_{th}$, the threshold stress intensity factor, of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts, unlike the Un-peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the Shot-peened material was higher than of the Un-peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN. 2.
