콘크리트 균열 탐사를 위한 철제시편 비교 실험 (Experiments on Steel Specimen for Concrete Crack Measurements)

  • The various size and shape of cracks in concrete induce deterioration of reinforced concrete structures including nuclear power plants. The wider and deeper the crack is, the concrete structures are more vulnerable to carbonization. Thus, it is essential to develop a reliable measurement technique of cracks inside concrete. In this study, an ultrasonic test method is applied to the crack measurements. The results can be used for evaluation of existing reinforced concrete structures.

  • Cracks are inherent to concrete by its nature. The various size and shape of cracks induce deterioration of reinforced concrete structures including nuclear power plants.   • Since the cement-water reaction in exothermic by nature, the temperature rise within a large concrete mass. Significant tensile stresses may develop from the volume change associated with the increase and decrease of the temperature with the mass concrete. There thermal stresses will cause temperature-related cracking in mass concrete structure. These typical type of mass concrete include mat foundation, bridge piers, thick wall, box type walls, tunnel linings, etc. Crack control methods can be considered at such stages as designing, selecting the materials, and detailing the construction method. Temperature and analysis was performed by taking into consideration of the cement type and content, boundary and environment conditions including the variations of atmospheric temperature and wind velocity. This is paper, the effect of separate placement of thermal crack control footing was analysed by a three dimensional finite element method. As a result, using this method, thermal crack control can be easily performed for structures such as mat structures.

열응력, 내력 및 균열 경계하중을 고려한 2차원 균열문제의 에너지방출율 (The Energy Release Rate of the Two Dimensional Cracked Body Under Thermal Stresses, Body Forces and Crack-Face Tractions)

  • Under general loadings, including body forces, crack-face tractions and thermal loading, the energy release rate equation for a two-dimensional cracked body is presented. Defining the virtual crack extension as the variation of the geometry, the equation is directly derived by a shape design sensitivity of the potential energy. Although the form of the derived energy release rate equation is different from other researchers's results, the three example show that the former is exactly the same as the latter. However, the final integral equation do not involve the derivative of the displacement on the crack surface and crack tip region, thereby improving the numerical accuracy in the computation of the energy relase rate. Moreover, as it was derived from the governing equation including non-linear elasticity without special assumptions, the energy release rate of a elasto-plastic fracture can be obtained and any numerical stress analysis method can be applied.

  • The damage mechanism of $Cr_2O_3$ plasma coated soda-lime glass and uncoated glass by steel ball particle impact was analyzed in this study. And the shape variation of the cracks was investigated by stereo-microscope according to the impact velocity and steel ball diameter. In order to improve the damage reduction effect by $Cr_2O_3$ coating layer, crack size was measured and surface erosion state was observed for both of two kinds of specimen after impact experiment. And the results were compared with each other. The 4-point bending test was performed according to ASTM D790 testing method to evaluate the effect of coating layer for bending strength variation. As a result, it was found that the crack size of $Cr_2O_3$ coated specimen was smaller than that of uncoated one, because of the impact absorption by interior pores in the coating layer and the load dispersion by the structural characteristic of the coating layer. For the specimens subjected to the steel ball impact, the bending strength of coated specimen was higher than that of uncoated specimen.

  • 본 연구에서는 $C^{*}$ 적분을 수정하여 균열 진전의 효과를 배제하는 새로운 크립 파괴의 하중 매개변수 $C_{m}$ 을 제안하고 그 타당성을 검토한다. 또한 $C_{m}$ 의 전개 과정에서 유도되는 다른 하중 매개변수들의 특성과 그 이용가능성을 조사한다. 균열 진전 속도가 $C^{*}$ 의 지배를 받는 것으로 알려져 있는 스테인레스 강(stainless steel) STS 304(KS 규격)를 사용한 크립파괴 실험을 600.deg. C에서 수행하여 $C_{m}$ 의 크립 파괴에 대한 적용 가능성을 조사하도록 한다.

  • Blasting induced damage boundary was determined by measuring vibrations adjacent to charging holes. the criterion adopted to define damages is that blasting-induced strains exceeding tension-crack strain level cause damages. The blasting vibrations were measured in terms of acceleration and converted to strains. The tension-crack strain level was determined with tensile strengths and elastic moduli of rock cores. The damage zone was found to be extended radially about 1 meter from the blasthole detonated with 250 to 700 grams of explosives. The comparison of shear wave velocity profiles before and after blasting shows that the damage boundary of 1 meter seems to be reliable.

강구 경사충돌에 의한 유리의 손상 거동에 대한 실험적 연구 및 유한요소 해석 (Finite Element Analysis and Experimental Study About Damage Behavior of Glass by Oblique Impact of Steel Ball)

  • The damage behavior of soda-lime glass was studied due to a steel ball of 1mm and 2mm at oblique impact test. The thickness of glass specimen were 3mm and 5mm and oblique degrees of impact were 90$^{\circ}$,70$^{\circ}$ and 50$^{\circ}$. After the steel ball impact test, the crack patterns were investigated using a stereo-microscope. In addition, the finite element method was performed to analyze the stresses distribution and variation in the oblique impacted glass by steel ball. As a result of the impact test, the crack length of 90$^{\circ}$impacted glass was the largest and that of 50$^{\circ}$impacted glass was the smallest. In particular, as the impact velocity and diameter of the steel ball increased, the difference of crack length was prominent. The finite element analysis showed the maximum principle stresses distribution in contact area of glass specimen. The result of analysis was accorded with the crack growth behavior by the oblique impact test.

  • Ultrasonic test usually was used for defect detection, crack depth measurements and strength estimation of hardened concrete. The essence of the pulse velocity method is that the transition time of an ultrasonic longitudinal pulse is measured in concrete. Ultrasonic velocity was propagated to the age of concrete, made a radical change at that time when concrete was setted. This study which monitored the change in a concrete by ultrasonic test was performed to estimate initial setting and final setting.

  • The machine structure or parts has been arrive at a fracture, depend on crack by repeated load. Machine designer is estimate of fatigue strength in early stages the design for prevent fatigue fracture, then necessary its load history. This research study is using diesel locomotive in measurement of load history for fatigue design of rolling stock. The relation between velocity and amplitude of load history was found. We confirmed that the increase of velocity make to increase the magnitude of amplitude.
