In this paper, ${\Delta}J$-integral is used to analyze fatigue crack growth of viscoelastic material. Using analytical integral value, the J-integral is calculated. So, reduction of calculation time and increase of accuracy are made possible. The stress intensity factor is calculated using the finite element method code. In difference with existed fatigue crack analysis using ${\Delta}K$, we were successfully able to analyze various load amplitude and the fatigue crack of load cycle only with two fatigue crack growth parameters and creep compliance. The analysis gives N-${\alpha}$ curve for simulation of crack growth, and the curve almost corresponds with test results.
Fatigue tests by axial loading (R = 0.05) were carried out to investigate fatigue crack growth characteristics of small surface cracks in 2 1/4 Cr-1 Mo steel at room temperature by using flat specimens with a small artificial pit. All the data of the fatigue crack growth rate obtained in the present test are determined as a function of the stress intensity factor range about a semi-elliptical crack, so that the application of linear fracture mechanics to the surface fatigue crack growth and to the fatigue crack growth into depth, and all the data obtained from tests were discussed in comparison with the data of Type 304 stainless steel and two type of mild steel under the same test conditions. The obtained results are as follows: 1)When the cycle ratios are same, surface fatigue crack length and its depth are almost same and fall within a narrow scatter band in spite of different stress levels. 2)Relations of the surface fatigue crack growth rate (da/dN) and fatigue crack growth rate into depth (db/dN) to its stress intensity factor range ($\Delta K_{Ia}, \Delta K_{Ib}$) can be plotted as a straight line at log-log diagram without dependence of stress level and coincide with the data of part-through crack in various steels.
In this study, CT specimens were prepared from AST SA516 Gr. 70 which was used for pressure vessel plates for room and low temperature service. And we got the following characteristics from fatigue crack growth test carried out in the environment of room and low temperature at 25$^{\circ}C $, -60$^{\circ}C $, -80$^{\circ}C $ and -100$^{\circ}C $ and in the range of stress ratio of 0.05, 0.3 by means of opening mode displacement. At the constant stress ratio, the threshold stress intensity factor range ${\delta} K_{th}$ in the early stage of fatigue crack growth (Region I) and stress intensity factor range $\delta $K in the stable of fatigue crack growth (Region II) were increased in proportion to descending temperature. It was assumed that the fatigue resistance characteristics and fracture strength at low temperature is considerable higher than that of room temperature in the early stage and stable of fatigue crack growth region. The straight line slope relation of logarithm da/dN -$\delta $K in Region II, that is, the fatigue crack growth exponent m increased with descending temperature at the constant stress ratio. It was assumed that the fatigue crack growth rate da/dN is rapid in proportion to descending temperature in Region II and the cryogenic-brittleness greatly affect a material with decreasing temperature.

In this study, it is investigated for the effects of stress ratio and grain size on fatigue crack growth behavior and crack closure, in ferrite-martensite dual phase steels. The results obtained are as follows ; .DELTA. $K_{th}$ is independent of the ferrite grain size, but decreases with increasing stress ratio. The relation between .DELTA. $K_{th}$ and stress ratio R is as follows : .DELTA. $K_{th}$ =15.1(1-0.95R). But (.DELTA. $K_{eff}$)$_{th}$ in terms of crack closure is approximately 2.5 MPa.root.m. Also, variation of the degree of crack deflection to crack tip opening displacement at the minimum load is considered as a parameter of crack closure.e.e.
Though the magnitude is decreasing, the compressive residual stress is always distributed during fatigue crack growth near the crack tip. This means that the residual stress is released during fatigue crack growth due to the alternative load. ${\Delta}K_{IV}$ is modified by using the initial residual stress and the redistributed residual stress in uniform and various thickness welded specimens. The former is denoted by ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$ and the latter is denoted by ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$. ${\Delta}K_{IV.eff.i}$ gives more accurate relations in da/dN vs. ${\Delta}K_{IV}$ curve, however the difference is very small.
High temperature low cycle fatigue shows that cycle-dependent crack growth owing to cyclic plastic deformation occurred simultaneosly with time-dependent crack growth owing to intergranular deformation. Consequently, to estimate crack growth rate uniquely, many to investigators have proposed various kinds of parameters and theories but these could not produce satisfactory results. Therefore the goal of this study is focused on prediction of crack growth rate using predominant damage rule, linear cumulative damage rule and transitional parameter ${\Delta}J_c/{\Delta}J_f$. On the basis of these sinusoidal loading waveform at 600$^{\circ}C$ and 700$^{\circ}C$.
The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of specimen thickness on statistical properties of crack growth resistance. In this study, the resistance S$\delta$$_h$(x) to fatigue crack growth was treated as a spatial stochastic process. which varies randomly on the crack surface. The theoretical autocorrelation functions of the resistance to fatigue crack growth considering specimen thickness are discussed for several correlation lengths. The main results obtained are : (1) The theoretical autocorrelation functions of S$\delta$$_h$(x) are almost independent of specimen of specimen thickness except for the origin. (2) The variance increases with decreasing specimen thickness.

Surface fatigue crack propagation tests by plane bending fatigue were conducted on the welding specimens of an aluminium alloy, A5083-0, having an edge through thickness notch to study the fatigue crack growth characteristics. Moreover, the experiments were performed in order to clarify the fatigue crack initiation and growth. The properties of fatigue crack growth were quantitatively inspected in welded metal, heat-affected zone and base metal of the welding specimens. The main results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. It is found that the hardness distributions of A5083-0 aluminium alloy weldments are quite different with those of steel material weldments, so that the hardness distribution becomes lower in the following order: base metal, heat-affected zone and weld metal. 2. It is observed that the grain size of this specimen weldment appears to be almost equal to the base metal, when TIC welding method is adopted. 3. In a surface fatigue crack initiation and growth, the fatigue crack does not begin by opening-closing mechanism until hardening is saturated at the crack tip. 4. The fatigue crack growth characteristics of A5083-0 alluminium alloy weldments can be concluded.$${\frac{da}{dn}}=C({\Delta}K)^n=3.8{\times}10^{-9}{({\frac}{1}{2}{\Delta}S_t{\sqrt{{\pi}a}})}^{2.4}$$

In the present study, rotating bending fatigue tests have been carried out in three kinds of carbon steel specimens; an annealed low carbon steel, an annealed high carbon steel and quenched-tempered high carbon steel; with a small artificial surface defect that might exist in real structures. Fatigue crack lengths have been observed by a method of replication in order to investigate the growth characteristic of fatigue crack in the viewpoints of strength of materials and fracture mechanics. The main results obtained are as follows: 1) The effect of a small surface defect upon the reduction of fatigue limit is considerably large, and the rate of fatigue limit reduction grows in the following order; annealed low carbon steel(mild steel), annealed high carbon steel, quenched-tempered high carbon steel. 2) When the growth rate of surface crack length(2a) was investigated in the viewpoints of fracture mechanics based upon $ ${\Delta}K_{\varepsilon}$, the dependence of stress level and of surface defect size disappear, and there exists a linear relationships between d(2a)/dN and ${\Delta}K_{{\varepsilon}t},\;\Delta_{{\varepsilon}t}\sqrt{{\pi}a}$, on log. plot, i.e, $d(2a)/dN={C{\cdot}{\Delta}K_{\varepsilon}}^3_t$, where ${\Delta}_{{\varepsilon}t}\sqrt{{\pi}a}$ a is the cyclic total strain intensity factor range.

This paper presents a methodology for predicting stable crack growth and instability of a cracked body under monotonically increasing load. It is based on a model that incremental crack extensions and load increments after fracture initiation occur by turns in sequence and the criterion that the crack grows by an incremebt .delta.a when the opening displacement at the current crack tip increases by a critical value V$_{c}$. It is shown that the value I$_{c}$ = V$_{c}$/ .delta. a is a material constant characterizing ductile crack growth resistance. Along with the fracture initiation toughness value, the constant is used for the calculation of the loads against crack extensions by adding up each increment. The specimen failure is defined to occur when the necessary load increment for crack extension is zero or when the limit load in the current ligament is reached. The predicted failure loads are in good agreement with the avaliable experimental failure loads for the compact and center-cracked tension specimens of 7075-T651, 2024-T351 aluminum alloys and 304 stainless steel.steel.
