  • In this paper, we develops a domestic and foreign first reinforced cover glass grinding process for large surface TPS and resolves a problem of conventional cover glass grinding process through a research. Also, it is developed in priority to improve a productivity and processing quality emphasis. The development process develops a total process technology through a production and operation of demonstration unit. so, in this paper, we secured cover glass grinding process technology, image processing technology, mechanisms and control algorithms.

  • Nowadays, flat-shaped cover glass is widely used for mobile devices. However, for its good design and convenience of use, curved cover glass has been demanded. Thus, many companies have tried to produce curved cover glass through the shaving technique, but the production efficiency is very low. Therefore, the molding technique has been adopted to increase the efficiency for the curved-glass production system. For a glass-molding system, several heating blocks are installed, and the flat cover glass is sequentially heated and molded. The production time for the cover glass is very different depending on the heating conditions; thus, the prediction of the production time for different heating conditions should be needed. Therefore, in this study, the computations were performed with different heating conditions (uniform and non-uniform) in the present cover glass-molding machine. For uniform and non-uniform heating conditions, the simple correlation between the heating time and the heater capacity and the heating time to achieve higher durability can be suggested, respectively.

  • In these days, due to generalization of using smart mobile phone and wearable device such as smart watch, demand of Cover-glass and touch screen panel for protecting display increases. With increasing the demand of Cover-glass, slimming technique is promising for weight lightening, zero bezel. Cover-glass produced by this technique is required to decreasing thickness with increase strength. In the Cover-glass manufacturing process, mechanical processing and chemical processing has improve in the strength. Generally, Diamond electrodeposition wheel is used in mechanical process. Reinforced glass with the characteristics of the brittle and high hardness was manufactured by using a diamond electrodeposition wheel. At this time, Because of surface of the tool present non-uniform distribution of diamond particle, it has generate Loading of wheel and it has been decrease life of grinding tool, efficiency of grinding, quality and shape accuracy of workpiece. Thus Research is needed to controling particle distribution of diamond electrodeposition wheel uniformly. And it is necessary to study micro hole machining such as proximity senser hole, speaker hole positioned Cover-glass. Reinforced glass with the characteristics of the brittle and high hardness is difficult to machining. Processing of reinforced glass have generated wear of tool, micro cracks. Also, it is decreasing shape accuracy. In this paper, We conducted a study on how to control particle distribution uniformly about the diamond tool manufactured using elecetodeposition processing. It analyzed the factors that affect the arrangement of the particles in the electrodeposition process by design of experiment. And There is produced the grinding tool, which derives an optimum deposition conditions, for processing Cover-glass edge and the machinability was evaluated.

Optical Properties Control by Surface Treatment on Display Cover Glass (디스플레이 커버 글라스의 표면 처리에 의한 광학요소 제어)

  • To provide the clear images from the direct light on electrical board and display devices, anti glare treatment of display cover glass is needed. In this study, the effects of surface treatment temperature, concentration, and etching solution coating thickness of the gel phase on optical elements control such as gloss, haze of reflected light and transmittance, were investigated. Cover glasses were treated at different coating thickness and additive concentration. The optical properties were examined using spectrophotometer, gloss and haze meter. The surface morphology and roughness were measured by the optical microscope and Ra measuring instrument. The etching rate and surface morphologies were dramatically affected by the concentration of acid additive in the viscous gel because of re-crystallization of components in the etching solution, hydrogel formation and coagulant after coating on glass substrate. In our experimental range, cover glass which is surface-treated with various optical properties as well as the morphology uniformity was obtained; in particular, optical properties could be controlled by etching solution coating thickness of the gel phase and the concentration of additive. The gloss was depended on the surface roughness and it showed the linear relationship between optical transmittance and haze of reflected light, respectively.

  • This study is for the development of Cover Glass Grinding Processing System. This system is developed for manufacturing a mass product system grinding cover glasses with highly precise mechanism, and we improved resulted quality. In the development process, we developed a complete process technology through mechanical design, image processing technology, spindle control, mark identification algorithm etc. With this cover glass grinding development, we could developed process technology, image processing technology, organization mechanisms and control algorithms.

  • Currently, flat cover glasses are widely applied to mobile devices. However, for a good design and for convenience of use, curved cover glasses are in demand. Therefore, a molding technique has been adopted to increase the efficiency of curved glass production systems. For a glass molding system, a uniform temperature distribution of the mold is crucial to produce high-quality curved cover glasses. Before setting the heating conditions of the molding system for a uniform temperature distribution by a thermal analysis, verification is required. Therefore, in this study, temperature measurements were conducted for a prototype molding system and the experimental results were compared with simulation computations. The temperatures of the heating block surface were in good agreement with the computational results for transient and steady conditions.

  • We discussed various cover glass substrates available for photovoltaic (PV) modules, and investigated the fabrication methods of light trapping structures for the efficiency enhancement of PV modules: wet and dry etching or laser and direct patternings. We also introduced the analysis of haze at etched glass surfaces as a function of wavelength and also presented a anti-reflection coating technology for PV module.

  • Nowadays, the touch screen panel (TSP) cover glass for mobile smart devices is being developed with a curved glass shape due to different design requirements. Because the sizes of mobile smart devices continue to increase, there has also been a great increase in the demand for large-area curved glass greater than 20 inches. In this study, heat and fluid flow analysis using CFD was performed to optimize the heating surface temperature distribution of the large curved glass formation system. Five cooling water flow paths in the cooling block were designed and analyzed for each case. A function that can quantitatively calculate the temperature uniformity of the heating surface was proposed and these values were obtained for the five models. The temperature distributions of the heating surface and the energy consumption of the heating system were also compared and comprehensively analyzed. Based on the analysis results of the five different cooling channel path models, the optimal path design could be presented.

Thickness Dependence of CVD-SiC-Based Composite Ceramic for the Mold of the Curved Cover Glass (곡면 커버 글라스용 금형 코팅을 위한 CVD-SiC 기반 세라믹 복합체의 두께에 따른 특성 연구)

  • The use of a silicon carbide (SiC)-based composite ceramic layer for the mold of a curved cover glass was demonstrated. The stress of SiC/VDR/graphite-based mold structure was evaluated via finite element analysis. The results revealed that the maximum tensile stress primarly occured at the edge region. Moreover, the stress can be reduced by employing a relatively thick SiC coating layer and, therefore, layers of various thicknesses were deposited by means of chemical vapor deposition. During growth of the layer, the orientation of the facets comprising the SiC grain became dominant with additional intense SiC(220) and SiC(004). However, the roughness of the SiC layer increased with increasing thickness of the layer and. Hence, the thickness of the SiC layer needs to be adjusted by values lower than the tolerance band of the curved cover glass mold.

Improved Adhesion of Solar Cell Cover Glass with Surface-Flourinated Coating Using Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Treatment (상압 플라즈마 표면처리를 통한 태양광모듈 커버글라스와 불소계 코팅의 응착력 향상)

  • We propose a method for improving the reliability of a solar cell by applying a fluorinated surface coating to protect the cell from the outdoor environment using an atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) treatment. An APP source is operated by radio frequency (RF) power, Ar gas, and $O_2gas$. APP treatment can remove organic contaminants from the surface and improve other surface properties such as the surface free energy. We determined the optimal APP parameters to maximize the surface free energy by using the dyne pen test. Then we used the scratch test in order to confirm the correlation between the APP parameters and the surface properties by measuring the surface free energy and adhesive characteristics of the coating. Consequently, an increase in the surface free energy of the cover glass caused an improvement in the adhesion between the coating layer and the cover glass. After treatment, adhesion between the coating and cover glass was improved by 35%.
