고속도로 매표방법 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study to Reduce the Waiting Time in the Toll Gate)

  • Most of the companies are forced to cut down the manufacturing cost to survive in the competitive environment. Among others, material distribution cost alone takes substantial portion of the total manufacturing cost. In this study, we investigate the waiting phenomenon in the toll gate and propose a new toll booth layout to reduce the waiting time, thereby reduce the total material distribution cost. SIMAN, a simulation language, is employed to evaluate the proposed layout. The experimental results show that the layout reduces the waiting time significantly. Furthermore, the result indicates that determination of the intermediate buffer space affects the performance of the proposed layout.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to conduct a cost accounting of implant prosthesis according to the fabrication activities. Methods: In this study, the cost price of implant prosthesis fabrication activities was calculated by the bottom-up costing approach for material and labor cost and the top-down costing approach for expenses and other. Results: The total cost price was estimated to 220,000 ~ 310,000 won per one implant prosthesis. By product, the screw type was estimated to 220,000 ~ 230,000 won, and when the stent and tray were included, it was 260,000 ~ 270,000 won, which increased about 40,000 won. And, the cement type with more material and labor time was estimated to 250,000 ~ 260,000 won, and when the stent and tray were included, it was about 300,000 won. Conclusion: In terms of the fabrication cost ratio by items, it was shown that material cost and labor cost accounted for about 40% and 30% of the total cost structure for resin case, respectively, which was the opposite for porcelain. It was shown that expenses and general administrative expenses accounted for about 15%, and profits were about 11% ~ 14% in both cases.

The Production of Xanthan from Brewer's Spent Grain

  • Sugar or dextrose increases the cost of production of xanthan gum by Xanthomonas campestris. Brewers' Spent Grain (BSG) was chosen as a source of fermentable sugars. BSG is a significant industrial by-product generated in large quantities from the breweries. Primarily used as animal feed due to its high fiber and protein content, BSG holds great potential as an economically and ecologically sustainable substrate for fermenting biomolecules. This study explores BSG's potential as a cost-effective carbon source for producing xanthan, utilizing Xanthomonas campestris NCIM 2961. An aqueous extract was prepared from BSG and inoculated with the bacterium under standard fermentation conditions. After fermentation, xanthan gum was purified using a standard protocol. The xanthan yield from BSG media was compared to that from MGYP media (control). The fermentation parameters, including pH, temperature, agitation and duration were optimized for maximum xanthan gum yield by varying them at different levels. Following fermentation, the xanthan gum was purified from the broth by alcoholic precipitation and then dried. The weight of the dried gum was measured. The obtained xanthan from BSG under standard conditions and commercial food-grade xanthan were characterized using FTIR. The highest xanthan yields were achieved at 32 ℃, pH 6.0, and 72 h of fermentation at 200 rpm using BSG media. The FTIR spectra of xanthan from BSG media closely resembled that of commercial food-grade xanthan. The results confirm the potential of BSG as a cost-effective alternative carbon source for xanthan production, thereby reducing production costs and solid waste.

A Study on the Cost Estimate System Development Method for Nuclear Power Plant Construction Projects

  • Nuclear power plants in Korea are usually built based on a duplicated model; so the project cost data of the preceding unit can be used as reference when estimating the project cost for the succeeding unit. However, since the contracting method is oriented towards the price, empirical factors such as making top-down estimations using the reverse calculation method based on the completion cost of the preceding unit is dominant. In order to develop a project cost database to resolve such problems, the detailed cost boundary of the project cost data must be categorized by project and by system. This study proposes a method to connect the code of account with the base quantities and the IAEA account, and proposes a database structure for the development of a project cost estimation system. The estimation system developed in the future is expected to utilize the proposed project cost data structure.

  • Almost prefounded columns for top-down construction certainly have construction tolerances in plan and plumbness. Therefore, it is very difficult to connect prefabricated beams to prefounded columns at each floor level after excavation by usual top-down connection method and this usual connection method leads to long construction time, increasing cost and decreasing quality. This paper presents a new method for connecting prefabricated beam to prefounded column with GROUT-JACKET CONNECTION SYSTEM consisting of sleeve, bearing-shear bands and grout. Details and illustrations of the connections and applications by GROUT-JACKET CONNECTION SYSTEM for the top-down construction are also included in this paper.
