  • In this paper, we present a miniaturized differential line (DL) using inductance-enhanced corrugated ground planes (LCGP) for effective common-mode (CM) noise suppression in high-speed packages and printed circuit boards. The LCGP-DL demonstrates the CM noise suppression in the frequency range from 2.09 GHz to 3.6 GHz. Furthermore, to achieve the same low cutoff frequency, the LCGP-DL accomplishes a remarkable 23.2% reduction in size compared to a reference DL.

  • Feasibility of using PE sheet laminated CSP(Corrugated steel pipe) to sewers were tested via corrosion and abrasion tests for PE sheet laminated CSP; 1) corrosion test for PE film and PE coated plate, 2) corrosion test for joint of PE sheet laminated CSP, 3) corrosion test for outside of PE sheet laminated CSP, and 4) abrasion test for inside of PE sheet laminated CSP. The results for the corrosion and abrasion tests are as follows. 1. Results for corrosion tests on PE films and zinc coated steel plates that were coated with PE films show that the surfaces of both PE were not changed compared to those of original PE samples. Furthermore, PE films maintained strong adhesion on the steel plates even though they were exposed to sewage and seawater provided cutting planes of the steel plates were treated with molding. But, results for corrosion tests on the spots that were previously cut off by a knife and a cutting planes of the steel plates were treated without molding show that steel plates have been corroded if they were exposed to sewage and seawater. 2. Results for corrosion tests on joints of PE sheet laminated corrugated steel using sewage show that gathering rust was observed at cutting plane of PE sheet laminated corrugated steel after 180 days, but PE film was not flaked off. However, PE film at cutting plane was flaked off when PE sheet laminated corrugated steel was exposed to seawater. Furthermore, flaking process was severely progressed at lockseam points of which the surfaces were not smooth. 3. Results for laying PE sheet laminated corrugated steel under the ground show that the surface of untouched PE film was almost identical to that of original PE film. However, the spots that were previously cut off by a knife and a cutting plane of PE sheet laminated corrugated steel have flaked off. 4. As a result of abrasion tests conducted with PE sheet laminated corrugated steel and sand, brilliance and thickness of PE was not greatly changed under the severe abrasion conditions. Therefore, the durability of PE sheet laminated corrugated steel for abrasion was determined to be good.

  • In this paper, a wideband slot antenna with corrugated structure antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a ground plane with corrugated slot and microstrip feed-line. Even with a limited dimension of $70{\times}70{\times}1.6mm$, the proposed antenna has wide bandwidth due to the longer current path formed by the corrugated slot structure. Measured bandwidth(10 dB return loss) and fractional bandwidth of the proposed antenna are 2,180 MHz(2.5~4.68 GHz) and 60.7 % at the center frequency of 3.59 GHz. The proposed antenna has an omni-directional radiation pattern and measured gains and average efficiency were 3.48~5.83 and dBi, 81.55 %, respectively.

  • The analysis of a surface wave antenna with the corrugated ground plane fed by a parallel-plate waveguide is considered. An equivalent theorem Is employed to subdivide the original problem into three regions for the simple analysis : one concerning the geometry inside the shorted parallel-plate(Internal region 1), one concerning the geometry of the corrugation(Internal region 2), and one concerning the geometry of the conducting wedge(External region). The hybrid method of moment(MOM)/uniform geometrical theory of diffraction(UTD) method is applied to analyze a corrugated surface wave antenna with the end-fire radiation. Our numerical results are very well matched with those of the previous experiment, better results are obtained when compared with those of the previous simple equivalent current approach. Also, we can obtain the parameters to design an effective end-fire corrugated surface wave antenna.

  • In this paper, N-shaped slot antenna for $5.15GHz{\sim}5.35GHz$ is designed, fabricated, and measured. The prototype consist of meander corrugated N-shaped slot. To obtain suitable bandwidth, the form layer is inserted between ground plane and substrate. Important parameters in the design are N-slot length, width, position, air-gap height, and feed point position. From these parameters optimized, a four N-shaped slot antenna is fabricated and measured. The measured results of the antenna are obtained as follows results. The resonant frequency of the fabrication N-shaped slot antenna is 5.25GHz bandwidth for approximately 300MHz(VSWR<2.0) and the gain is $1.3{\sim}2.64dBi$. The experimental far-field patterns are stable across the pass band. The 3dB bandwidth in H-Plane and E-Plane are $80.21^{\circ}\;and\;103.38^{\circ}$, respectively.

  • This paper introduces a high-efficiency, high-gain, broadband quasi-Yagi antenna, and its four-element array for use in 60-GHz wireless communications. The antenna was fed by a microstrip-to-slotline transition consisting of a curved microstripline and a circular slot to allow broadband characteristics. A corrugated ground plane was employed as a reflector to improve the gains in the low-frequency region of the operation bandwidth, and consequently, to reduce variation. The single antenna yielded an impedance bandwidth of 49 to 69 GHz for $|S_{11}|$ <-10dB and a gain of >12.0 dBi while the array exhibited a bandwidth of 52 to 68 GHz and a gain greater than 15.0 dBi. Both proposed designs had small gain variations (${\pm}0.5$ dBi) and high radiation efficiency (>95%) in the 60-GHz bands. The features of the proposed antenna were validated by designing, fabricating, and testing a scaled-up configuration of the single antenna at the 15-GHz band. The measurements resulted in an impedance bandwidth of 13.0 to 17.5 GHz for $|S_{11}|$ <-10dB, a gain of 10.1 to 13.2 dBi, and radiation efficiency in excess of 88% within this bandwidth. Additionally, the 15-GHz antenna yielded quite symmetric radiation profiles in both E- and H-planes, with a high front-to-back ratio.
