  • We propose a multi-rate sensor fusion of vision and radar using Kalman filter to solve problems of asynchronized and multi-rate sampling periods in object vehicle tracking. A model based prediction of object vehicles is performed with a decentralized multi-rate Kalman filter for each sensor (vision and radar sensors.) To obtain the improvement in the performance of position prediction, different weighting is applied to each sensor's predicted object position from the multi-rate Kalman filter. The proposed method can provide estimated position of the object vehicles at every sampling time of ECU. The Mahalanobis distance is used to make correspondence among the measured and predicted objects. Through the experimental results, we validate that the post-processed fusion data give us improved tracking performance. The proposed method obtained two times improvement in the object tracking performance compared to single sensor method (camera or radar sensor) in the view point of roots mean square error.

  • This paper focuses on recovering systematic biases during LIDAR calibration, particularly using natural surfaces as control features. Many previous approaches have utilized all the points overlapping with the control features and often experienced with an inaccurate value converged with a poor rate due to wrong correspondence in pairing a point and the corresponding control features. To overcome these shortcomings, we establish a preventive scheme to select the pairs of high confidence, where the confidence value is based on the error budget associated with the point measurement and the linearity and roughness of the control feature. This approach was then applied to calibraring the LIDAR data simulated with the given systematic biases. The parameters were successfully recovered using the proposed approach with the accuracy and convergence rate superior to those using the previous approaches.

  • This paper investigates the existence of uncovered interest rate parity between the Korea-USA as well as the Korea-Japan. We may ascertain the existence of uncovered interest rate parity by examining the empirical relationship between real exchange rates and interest rate differentials in the Korea-USA as well as in the Korea-Japan. The empirical relationship between real exchange rates and interest rate differentials in the Korean-USA and Korean-Japanese economies is investigated using cointegration tests. In the context of this study, cointegration technique is appropriate to examine the relationship between two(or more) nonstationary time series. Also, this method is useful to detect the possibility that the nonstationarity in both series can be explained by a single factor. The empirical results support the nonexistence of a long run equilibrium relation between real exchange rates and interest rate differentials. Also, the results show that the nonstationarity cannot be explained by a single factor.

  • Lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors, and it has the highest death rate. Oncothermia is a feasible and successful treatment for lung cancer. Results show a remarkable survival benefit for patients, with a good quality of life. The treatment has no, or in some cases mild, side-effects and could decrease the adverse effects of the complementary treatment. Applying oncothermia together with other treatment methods could increase the effects and result in better performance. A comparison of studies demonstrates a good correspondence in the data, which strengthens the reliability of the studies, and clearly shows the feasibility of the application of oncothermia to treating all kinds of pulmonary malignancies including non-small-cell and small-cell primary tumors, and all of the metastatic diseases of the pulmonary system.

  • Objectives : Man adapts himself to nature, so accordingly as he grows up, changes of body composition appear. This study measured the changes of body compositions on the ground of Sasang constitution and seasons Methods : 253 middle school students who live in Busan were studied from the 20th of March, 1999 to the 20th of March, 2001. We measured height and body compositions with Inbody 3.0, six times during that period. Results : According as they grew up, total body water, muscle area, body weight, BMI (Body Mass Index), BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate), ACM (Arm Muscle Circumference), and BCM (Body Cell Mass) increased, but fat body weight ratio decreased. From March to June, total body water, muscle area, height, ACM, and BCM increased. From September to December fat body weight, fat body weight ratio, waist hip ratio increased as compared with other seasons. Height of Soyangin and BMI of both Soyangin and Taeumin increased more than those of other groups, with statistical significance Conclusions : The growth of man is adapting oneself to changes of nature, and it corresponds to the theory of (correspondence between man and universe).

  • The distances from the center line between maxillary right and left central incisors(the dental midline) to the various anatomical landmarks were measured. Fifty five students(thirth four males and twenty one females) who have at least natural teeth including maxillary and mandibular incisors and bicuspids were examined. 1. There was statistically significant difference between the dental midline and the center line of maxillary labial frenum(p<0.05). 2. There was no statistically significant difference between the dental midline and the point of incisive papilla, philtrum line, the center line between two mandibular central incisors, and the median palatine suture line(p>0.05). 3. There was no statistically significant sexual difference among data. 4. The philtrum line showed the highest value of correspondence to the center line between two maxillary central incisors followed by the center point of incisive papilla, the center line of two mandibular central incisors, median plaltine suture line and the center line of maxillary labial frenum at the decreasing rate.

  • Whether it is crosstalk, harmonics, or in-band operation of wireless technologies, interference between a reference system and a host of offenders is virtually unavoidable. In past contributions, a benchmark has been established and considered for coexistence analysis with a number of technologies including FWA, UMTS, and WiMAX. However, the previously presented model does not take into account the mobility factor of the reference node in addition to a number of interdependent requirements regarding the link direction, channel state, data rate and system factors; hence limiting its applicability for the MBWA (IEEE 802.20) standard. Thus, over diverse modes, in this correspondence we analytically derived the greatest aggregate interference level tolerated for high-fidelity transmission tailored specifically for the MBWA standard. Our results, in the form of benchmark indicators, should be of particular interest to peers analyzing and researching RF coexistence scenarios with this new protocol.
