The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing health promoting behavior of the elderly for develop health promoting intervention of old people. The subjects of this study were 167 elderly person over the age of 60, living in rural city in Korea. The data were collected by interview and self report questionnaire, during the period from May, 1999 to August. 1999 The instruments for this study were the PRQ-II by Weinert(1988), the scale of Locus of Control by Wallstone et al(1978), the scale of self efficacy by Sherer & Maddux(1982), 10 points visual analogue scale for the perceived health status and the importance of health, the health promoting behavior scale by Walker et al(1987), and the scales developed by authors for the perceived benefits of health promoting behaviors, and the perceived barriers to health promoting behaviors. The Cronbach 's alpha of these scales were .84 ~.97. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Among cognitive perceptual factors of the Health Promotion Model by Pender(1987), the scores of the importance of health, the perceived internal control of health, the self efficacy, the perceived health status, and the perceived benefits were significantly positive correlation with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. In addition, the scores of the perceived barriers were significantly negative correlation with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. 2. Among modifying factors of the Health Promotion Model by Pender(1987), the pocket money of the elderly, the scores of social support were significantly positive correlation with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. In addition, ages of old people were significantly negative correlations with the scores of the health promoting behavior of the elderly. 3. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of health promoting behavior was the self efficacy. A combination of the self efficacy, the perceived barriers, the social support, the importance of health, and the perceived internal control of health accounted for 56.2% of the variance in health promoting behavior in the elderly. From the results of this study, we concluded that the Health Promotion Model by Pender will be used to explain health promoting behavior of the elderly. We suggested that the results of this study will be considered in developing health promoting programs of elderly.
The purpose of this study is to develop a traffic characteristic analysis, a correlation analysis with the variables of traffic characteristics, and accident estimation models while recognizing the seriousness of the traffic accidents. The analyses deal with the 181 4-legged signalized intersections that accounted for 1,183 out of 3,115 accidents in Cheongju in 2004. After measuring ADT, intersection area, average lane width, elevation, and other items as independent variables and the number of traffic accidents, the traffic accident rate (accidents per million entering vehicles) and equivalent property damage only (EPDO) figures as dependent variables which are estimated as influencing signalized intersection accidents, the estimation models are developed using correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. In the analysis of the number of traffic accidents, the model indicates an $R^2$ of 0.612, and five independent variables are taken as significant factors. In the analysis of traffic accident rates, the model indicates an $R^2$ of 0.304 and five significant factors, including intersection area and ADT. Also, for the analysis or the EPDO numbers, which coincides with understanding the seriousness of the traffic accidents and the traffic characteristic analysis, the model indicates an $R^2$ of 0.559, and four independent variables (ADT, main street average lane width, elevation, and speed limit) as significant factors.

Purpose: This study aims to suggest an analysis model finding the relationship between building scale characteristics of Public-use facilities and infectious disease outbreaks around senior leisure welfare facilities and the features and their scopes where quarantine resources are to be concentrated. Methods: Reviewing previous studies found the user characteristics of senior leisure welfare facilities and scale characteristics of urban architectures. The data preprocessing was performed after collecting building data and infectious disease outbreak data in the analysis area. This study derived data for attributes of building size and frequency of infectious disease outbreaks in Public-use facilities around senior leisure welfare facilities. A computing algorithm was implemented to analyze the correlation between the building size characteristics and the infectious disease outbreak frequency as per the change of the spatial scope. Results: The results of this study are as follows: First, the suggested model was to analyze the correlation between the infection frequency and the number of senior leisure welfare facilities, the number of Public-use facilities, building area, total floor area, site area, height, building-to-land ratio, and floor area ratio varied as per the change of spatial scope. Second, correlation results varied between the infection frequency and the number of senior leisure welfare facilities, the number of Public-use facilities, building area, total floor area, site area, height, building-to-land ratio, and floor area ratio. Third, a negative correlation appeared in the analysis between the number of senior leisure welfare facilities and infection frequency. And positive correlations appeared noticeably in the study between the number of Public-use facilities, building area, total floor area, height, building-to-land ratio, and floor area ratio. Implications: This study can be used as primary data on the utilization of limited quarantine resources by analyzing the relationship between the Public-use facilities around the senior leisure welfare facilities and the spread of infectious diseases. In addition, it suggests that infectious disease prevention measures are necessary considering the spatial scope of the analysis area and the size of buildings.
The manufacturing industry is the backbone of the Korean economy. Among them, the petrochemical industry is a strategic growth industry, which makes a profit through reexports based on eminent technology in South Korea which imports all of its crude oil. South Korea imports whole amount of crude oil, which is the raw material for many manufacturing industries, by sea transportation. Therefore, it must respond swiftly to a highly volatile tanker freight market. This study aimed to make an early warning model of crude oil shipping market using a signal approach. The crisis of crude oil shipping market is defined by BDTI. The overall leading index is made of 38 factors from macro economy, financial data, and shipping market data. Only leading correlation factors were chosen to be used for the overall leading index. The overall leading index had the highest correlation coefficient factor of 0.499 two months ago. It showed a significant correlation coefficient five months ago. The QPS value was 0.13, which was found to have high accuracy for crisis prediction. Furthermore, unlike other previous time series forecasting model studies, this study quantitatively approached the time lag between economic crisis and the crisis of the tanker ship market, providing workers and policy makers in the shipping industry with an framework for strategies that could effectively deal with the crisis.
Background: The lung capacity prediction formula in Korea is an important judgment standard. Since there is no appropriate lung capacity prediction formula, various prediction formulas are used for foreigners such as Northeast Asians. The purpose of this study is to develop a lung capacity prediction equation by selecting data and setting the selection criteria for normal subjects in accordance with international standards through strict quality control, and to propose a new prediction model. Design: Preliminary feasibility study Methods: A total of 857 people who met the criteria for normal people were finally collected. The tester used for the lung capacity test was the V-Max Encore 22 (Carefusion, California, USA), which is a lung capacity tester proposed by the Korean Society of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Medicine and satisfies accuracy and precision. Among the indicators measured using spirometry, forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced expiratory volume ratio in 1 second (FEV1/FVC), forced mid-expiratory flow (Forced expiratory flow 25-75%, FEF25-75%) and peak expiratory flow (PEF) values were collected. Results: This study confirmed a significant correlation between age, height, weight, and pulmonary function indicators. Additionally, it found a correlation between body mass index, which considers the diversity of physical conditions, and pulmonary function indicators. Graphs depicting age-specific pulmonary function indicators by gender, presented as generalized additive model results from collected data, showed a pattern where both FVC and FEV1 increased until the mid-20s and then gradually decreased with aging. FEV1% and PEF exhibited a continuous decrease with aging. Conclusion: This study confirms that there is a significant correlation between weight and pulmonary function in the prediction formula for lung capacity. Additionally, it verifies the correlation between body mass index, which considers the diversity of physical conditions, and pulmonary function. The study suggests that the predicted values are relatively low due to factors such as aging and environmental influences like COVID-19. This preliminary study holds clinical significance for improving the diagnostic accuracy of respiratory symptoms in the elderly.

This study was undertaken to develop the artificially soiled cloth using clay and dyed oleic acid as model soil and to evaluating the detergency by determination of K/S value and chemical analysis. The results obtained were as follows : 1. Correlation were determined between the K/S value and chemical analysis data for the detergency of developed model soil at various conditions and it was found that model soil could be extensively used for the washing examination. 2. The surface reflectance of soiled cloth with clay-oleic acid mixture was measured two wave length band that was converted K/S values and the amount of two components was individually calculated. Positive correlation were found between detergency that obtained from chemical anlysis and K/S values. Therefore, proposed method of soiled cloth with clay-oleic acid mixed soiles could be extensively used for detergency experiment. 3. The attached state of soil of on the artificially soiled cloth which was observed under a scanning electronic microscope showed a different pattern by the sort of soil. And the difference of attached state of soil had great influence upon the detergency. 4. The composition of clay was changed and formated of noncrystalinity was vanished by calcined at $800^{\circ}C$. Because of a noncrystalline of clay, artificially soiled cloth could be prepared more uniformly but the detergency was decreased.

The objective of the study was to compare ranking of Sahiwal bulls selected on the basis of highest lactation milk yield of their dams with their estimated breeding values (EBVs) using an animal model. Data on 23,761 lactation milk yield records of 5,936 cows from five main Livestock Experiment Stations in Punjab province of Pakistan (1964-2004) were used for the study. At present the young A.I bulls are required to be from A-category bull-dams. Dams were categorized as A, B, C and D if they had highest lactation milk yield of ${\geq}$2,700, 2,250-2,699, 1,800-2,249 and <1,800 litres, respectively. The EBVs for lactation milk yield were estimated for all the animals using an individual animal model having fixed effect of herd-year and season of calving and random effect of animal. Fixed effect of parity and random effect of permanent environment were incorporated when multiple lactation were used. There were 396 young bulls used for semen collection and A.I during 1973-2004. However, progeny with lactation yields recorded, were available only for 91 bulls and dams could be traced for only 63 bulls. Overall lactation milk yield averaged 1,440.8 kg. Milk yield was 10% heritable with repeatability of 39%. Ranking bulls on highest lactation milk yield of their dams, the in-vogue criteria of selecting bulls, had a rank correlation of 0.167 (p<0.190) with ranking based on EBVs from animal model analysis. Bulls' EBVs for all lactations had rank correlation of 0.716 (p<0.001) with EBVs based on first lactation milk yield and 0.766 (p<0.001) with average EBVs of dam and sire (pedigree index). Ranking of bulls on highest lactation yield of their dams has no association with their ranking based on animal model evaluation. Young Sahiwal bulls should be selected on the basis of pedigree index instead of highest lactation yield of dams. This can help improve the genetic potential of the breed accruing to conservation and development efforts.
We developed three-dimensional quantitative structure activity relationship (3D-QASR) models for 17 adamantyl derivatives as P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibitors. Eighteen different partial charge calculation methods were tested to check the feasibility of the 3D-QSAR models. Best predictive comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) model was obtained with the Austin Model 1-Bond Charge Correction (AM1-BCC) atomic charge. The 3D-QSAR models were derived with CoMFA and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA). The final CoMFA model ($q^2$ = 0.764, $r^2$ = 0.988) was calculated with an AM1-BCC charge and electrostatic parameter, whereas the CoMSIA model ($q^2$ = 0.655, $r^2$ = 0.964) was derived with an AM1-BCC charge and combined steric, electrostatic, hydrophobic and HB-acceptor parameters. Leave-five-out (LFO) cross-validation was also performed, which yielded good correlation coefficient for both CoMFA (0.801) and CoMSIA (0.656) models. Robustness of the developed models was checked further with 1000 run bootstrapping analyses, which gave an acceptable correlation coefficient for CoMFA (BS-$r^2$ = 0.997, BS-SD = 0.003) and CoMSIA (BS-$r^2$ = 0.996, BS-SD = 0.018).

Most previous works to study for the depression of the disabilities in Korea have analyzed the repeated measured data of each individual under the mutually independent assumption. In this study, Korea Welfare Panel data of the disabilities surveyed additionally every three years are analyzed to detect the significant exploratory variables by the linear mixed models. A suitable correlation matrix is considered for the dependency of repeated measurement of each individual. The random effect to reflect the characteristics of the individuals as well as the fixed effect is included in the fitted linear mixed model. By the residual plot of the fixed effect model, the problem that the averages of residuals of each individual do not seem to be around zero is described. Further, the residual plot and the Q-Q plot coming from the selected final model are shown that the problem is modified well.

This research aims to gain the result of assessment of inflow categorized by runoff path using DIROM (Daily Irrigation Reservoir Operation Model) for Baengnyeong-myeon reservior which was built for residents of Baengnyeong island to solve the shortage of drinking water and stable supply of domestic water. The simulation results of DIROM and actual hydrograph of the reservoir show very low correlation with geological characteristics. The simulation results by DIROM after adjusting with modified Tank III model which considers all outflow from Tank II model as interflow among 3 level tanks show good correlation of its regional runoff and inflow characteristics with $R^2$=0.9058. In the study area, diffluence of 37% of rain fall of the study year has been simulated, which shows low result compared to the average river runoff of national water resource. In addition, 34.5% of total inflow to the study reservoir is mainly interflow and baseflow among expected several channels.
