  • Recent study of soft clay of Nakdong-River basin has been taken correlation between soil properties by regression analysis without distribution whether the sample is disturbed or not, or treated as a whole area without proposing local correlation equation to Jang-U or Dae-Joe which has a specific locality. Accordingly, Those tendency cause the reliability of correlation between compression index and void ratio low and then design underestimate and uncertain eventually. In this study, Distributing the soft clay of Nakdong-River basin with failure strain of 6%, the suggestion by Skempton(1957), TakeNaka(1966)-the more sample is undisturbed, the more the ratio of E$\_$50/ and q$\_$u/, ${\alpha}$ = E$\_$50//(q$\_$u//2) = 1/$\varepsilon$$\_$50/ is high-is satisfied with the value of which ${\alpha}$ is 50 and It could be taken enough data in the condition of domestic. Besides other indices also make the distribution suitable. In conclusion, This study is supposed to propose the locally subdivided regression equation between compression index and void ratio considering the sample disturbance.

  • Estimating the reference evapotranspiration is an important factor to consider in irrigation system design and agricultural water use. However, there is a limitation in using the FAO Penman-Monteith (FAO P-M) equation, which requires various meteorological data. The purpose of this study is to compare three reference evapotranspiration (ETo) equations in the case of meteorological data missing for 11 study weather stations. Firstly, the FAO P-M equation is used for reference potential evapotranspiration estimation with the actual solar radiation data $R_n$ and the actual vapor pressure $e_a$. Then, in the case of $R_n$, and $e_a$ are missed, the reference evapotranspirations applying FAO P-M, Priestley-Taylor (P-T), Hargreaves (HG) equation were calculated using other meteorological factors. Secondly, MAE, RMSE, $R^2$ were calculated to compare ETo relationship from the ETo equations. From the results, ETo with Hargreaves equation in coastal areas and the Priestley-Taylor equation in the inland areas showed relatively high correlation with FAO P-M when $e_a$ data is missed. In the case of $R_n$ data is missed or two weather data, $e_a$, and $R_n$ data are all missed, $R^2$ value in Priestley-Taylor equation was highest in coastal areas, and $R^2$ values in Hargreaves equation were the high values for 7 inland areas. The results of sensitivity analysis showed that net radiation was the most sensitive for P-T and HG equation, and for FAO P-M, the most sensitive factor was net radiation and relative humidity, air temperature and wind speed were follows. Therefore, in considering of the accessibility to the coast, the types of the missing wether data, and the correlation and the magnitude of error, the reference evapotranspiration equations would be selected in sense of different conditions.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine accuracy of predicted resting energy expenditure (REE), relationship fat free mass (FFM) and REE. Methods : 60 normal, obese women $(body\;mass\;index\;{\geq}25kg/m^2)$ were recruited for this study, they had low calorie diet for 8 weeks. At week 0, 4, and 8, REE was measured by MedGem (indirect calorimeter), Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) using Cunningham equation, and Harris-Benedict (H-B) equation, FFM was also measured by BIA. Results : The REE predicted by BIA was lower than the REE measured by MedGem (MG) in every measurement. The REE predicted by H-B equation predicted REE was lower than that of MG in the second measurement (p<0.01). The REE measured by MedGem was declined after 8 weeks, BIA and H-B equation predicted REE were declined after 4 weeks (p<0.01). H-B equation predicted REE had more significant correlation with the REE measured by MedGem than that of BIA. There was significant correlation between measured REE and FFM, but measured REE declined after 8 weeks, FFM declined after 4 weeks (p<0.01). We derived a prediction equation as follows : REE = 108.36+31.42 (FFM), $R^2=0.23$.

  • This study was conducted to measure the lead level in the blood, scalp hair and toenail of the elementary schoolchildren and assess the relationship among those samples. Lead concentration of the blood, scalp hair and toenail was measured for 100(male 50, female 50) fourth grade elementary schoolchildren in Taegu city. The mean lead level in the blood, scalp hair and toenail was $6.00{\pm}2.44{\mu}g/dl,\;6.68{\pm}3.54{\mu}g/g,\;and\;7.33{\pm}3.18{\mu}g/g. The mean lead level in the blood of schoolboys was $6.43{\pm}2.77{\mu}g/dl$, and that of schoolgirls was $5.59{\pm}2.01{\mu}g/dl$. The mean lead level in the scalp hair of schoolboys was $7.66{\pm}2.97{\mu}g/g$ and that of schoolgirls was $6.88{\pm}3.54{\mu}g/g$. The mean lead level in the toenail of schoolboys was $8.19{\pm}3.5{\mu}g/g$ and that of schoolgirls was $6.47{\pm}2.52{\mu}g/g$ and their difference was statistically significant. In schoolboys, the correlation coefficient between the lead level in the blood and scalp hair was 0.4909, and the data were fitted best by the regression equation Y = 0.5255X+4. 2810, where Y and X are scalp hair and blood concentration. In schoolgirls the correlation coefficient between the lead level in the blood and scalp hair was 0.3778, and the data were fitted best by the regression equation Y = 0.6655X+2.9632, where Y and X are scalp hair and blood concentration. In schoolboys, the correlation coefficient between the lead level in the blood and in the toenail was 0.5533, and the data were fitted best by the regression equation Y = 0.7076X+3. 6472, where Y and X are toenail and blood concentration. In schoolgirls the correlation coefficient between the lead level in the blood and in the toenail was 0.2738, and the data were fitted best by the regression equation Y = 0.3431X+4.5570, where Y and X are toenail and blood concentration In schoolboys, the correlation coefficient between the lead level in the scalp hair and in the toenail, in the schoolboys was 0.4148, and the data were fitted best by the regression equation Y = 0.4956X+4.3986, where Y and X are toenail and scalp hair concentration. In schoolgirls, the correlation coefficient between the lead level in the scalp hair and in the toenail was 0.1159, and the data were fitted best by the regression equation Y = 0.0825X+5. 9214, where Y and X are toenail and scalp hair concentration. Correlation among lead concentration in the blood, scalp hair and toenail of schoolchildren were statistically significant except between scalp hair and toenail in schoolgirls. These finding suggest that blood, scalp hair and toenail can be used as substitutive samples between each others.

  • Drop size distribution of an air-assisted fuel injector(AAFI) was investigated. Influence of parameters such as ambient air density supply pressure and air-liquid mass ratio(ALR) was examined through both measurement and analysis. The Sauter mean diameter$D_{32}$ varied from 9 to 25$\mu$m throughout all experimental conditions. An empirical correlation for droplet size was obtained. Analytical correlations for predicting $D_{32}$ with respect to operating conditions were also derived through energy consideration and introduction of a simplified model of the from the empirical fitting was adapted to the original equation the proposed correlation in this study matched more closely with measured results. The current correlation exhibited a favorable study matched more closely with measured results. The current correlation exhibited a favorable prediction for $D_{32}$ compared to that by the empirical correlation at selected experimental conditions so that it may be used to predict atomization performance of the AAFI at operating conditions which was not covered in the measurements. After validation the analytical equation was applied to survey the feasible operating conditions for gasoline direct injection application.

  • In the construction of earth dam, embankment and highway by filling, a compaction contributes to increasing the density of soil by applying pressure. The effect of compaction depends on various factors such as soil type, moisture content, gradation, consistency, and compaction energy. In this study, the correlations amone maximum dry density, moisture content, dry density, and moisture content are analyzed. Some results obtained in this study are summarizep as follows. 1. The maximum dry density sinoreases with increased of optimum moisture content and the correlations of them can be represented by; ${\gamma}$dmx=a-b(W0) 2. Maximum dry density and liquid limit show negative linear correlation and can be represented by; ${\gamma}$dmx=a-b(LL). 3. Optimum moisture content and liquid limit, plastic limit show positive linear correlation and can be represented by the following equation, W0=a+b(LL) W0=a+b(PL). 4. Liquid limit and plastic limit show positive linear correlation, and can be represented by the following equation, LL=a+b(PL).

  • An algorithm of 3-D particle image velocimetry(3D-PIV) was developed for the measurement of 3-D velocity Held of complex flows. The measurement system consists of two or three CCD camera and one RGB image grabber. Flows size is $1500{\times}100{\times}180(mm)$, particle is Nylon12(1mm) and illuminator is Hollogen type lamp(100w). The stereo photogrammetry is adopted for the three dimensional geometrical mesurement of tracer particle. For the stereo-pair matching, the camera parameters should be decide in advance by a camera calibration. Camera parameter calculation equation is collinearity equation. In order to calculate the particle 3-D position based on the stereo photograrnrnetry, the eleven parameters of each camera should be obtained by the calibration of the camera. Epipolar line is used for stereo pair matching. The 3-D position of particle is calculated from the three camera parameters, centers of projection of the three cameras, and photographic coordinates of a particle, which is based on the collinear condition. To find velocity vector used 3-D position data of the first frame and the second frame. To extract error vector applied continuity equation. This study developed of various 3D-PIV animation technique.
