This paper describes a split operation for generation of core and cavity plates of an injection mold for a pseudo-solid model of a plastic part. Here, a pseudo-solid model means a sheet model that looks like a solid model. but whose boundary is not closed. When a solid model created in a different CAD system is imported through standard data exchange format, a pseudo-solid model is created in most cases as tolerance or some other problems make sewing operation failed. As most existing mold design system based on solid modeling kernels require a complete part solid model, mold designers have to do time-consuming healing operations to convert a pseudo-solid to solid. The essential capability of mold design system is the split operation for generation of core and cavity plates. Thus. we developed a split operation for pseudo-solid part model to eliminate or reduce healing preprocessing for mold design.

First, the effect of the geometry such as the curved shape of the struts composing the truss structure of WBK is elaborated. Then, analytic solutions for the material properties of WBK and the maximum loads of a WBK-cored sandwich panel under bending are derived. A design optimization with the face sheet thickness and the core height selected as the design variables is presented for given slenderness ratios of the WBK core. Unless the face sheet thickness is limited, the optimal design to give the maximum load per weight is always found at a confluence of three failure modes, namely, face sheet yielding, indentation plastic, and core shear modeB plastic.

In this paper, we present a low-power design of H.264 codec based on dedicated hardware and software solution on EMP(ETRI Multi-core platform). The dedicated hardware scheme has reducing computation using motion estimation skip and reducing memory access for motion estimation. The design reduces data transfer load to 66% compared to conventional method. The gate count of H.264 encoder and the performance is about 455k and 43Mhz@30fps with D1(720x480) for H.264 encoder. The software solution is with ASIP(Application Specific Instruction Processor) that it is SIMD(Single Instruction Multiple Data), Dual Issue VLIW(Very Long Instruction Word) core, specified register file for SIMD, internal memory and data memory access for memory controller, 6 step pipeline, and 32 bits bus width. Performance and gate count is 400MHz@30fps with CIF(Common Intermediated format) and about 100k per core for H.264 decoder.

Naval ships are assigned many and varied missions. Their performance is critical for mission success, and depends on the specifications of the components. This is why performance analyses of naval ships are required at the initial design stage. Since the design and construction of naval ships take a very long time and incurs a huge cost, Modeling and Simulation (M & S) is an effective method for performance analyses. Thus in this study, a simulation core is proposed to analyze the performance of naval ships considering their specifications. This simulation core can perform the engineering level of simulations, considering the mathematical models for naval ships, such as maneuvering equations and passive sonar equations. Also, the simulation models of the simulation core follow Discrete EVent system Specification (DEVS) and Discrete Time System Specification (DTSS) formalisms, so that simulations can progress over discrete events and discrete times. In addition, applying DEVS and DTSS formalisms makes the structure of simulation models flexible and reusable. To verify the applicability of this simulation core, such a simulation core was applied to simulations for the performance analyses of a submarine in an Anti-SUrface Warfare (ASUW) mission. These simulations were composed of two scenarios. The first scenario of submarine diving carried out maneuvering performance analysis by analyzing the pitch angle variation and depth variation of the submarine over time. The second scenario of submarine detection carried out detection performance analysis by analyzing how well the sonar of the submarine resolves adjacent targets. The results of these simulations ensure that the simulation core of this study could be applied to the performance analyses of naval ships considering their specifications.

Recently, the interest of precast concrete is increased for rapid construction in construction fields. Experimental study about the shear performance of the joint between hollow core slabs which have internal core to reduce their weight was performed. Main test variables were thickness of the topping concrete and existence of the wiremesh. Total 8 specimens including 4 in-plane shear and 4 out of plane shear were tested. Test results were analyzed in terms of cracking load, failure load, failure aspect, stiffness and ductility, and compared its design load to develop optimum design details. Test results indicated that the shear performance of the non-shrinkage mortar specimen was similar to that of 30mm thickness topping concrete specimen, and the effect of wiremesh reinforcement did not affect the failure load or stiffness of the specimens but the increase of ductility. And this paper presents the comparison results of the test results and design load to provide the optimum detail of the joint design between the hollow core slabs.

In this paper, we analyzed characteristic of window type current transformer and we performed the optimal design consider to the loss; in order to design the current transformer figured signal of overcurrent warning circuit. The core size of window type current transformer was determined by the secondary coil turns. We analyzed current waveform, which is appeared by the number of coil turns on the core, we made sure the relation of secondary coil turns and load resistance in order to improve the non-sinusoidal wave by the flux saturation of the current transformer core. Additionally, we did improvement of the accuracy and optimal design through the transformation of the inner diameter and the stack length when the outer diameter of core is sustaining.
The performance issues of screening large database compounds and multiple query compounds in virtual screening highlight a common concern in Chemoinformatics applications. This study investigates these problems by choosing group fusion as a pilot model and presents efficient parallel solutions in parallel platforms, specifically, the multi-core architecture of CPU and many-core architecture of graphical processing unit (GPU). A study of sequential group fusion and a proposed design of parallel CUDA group fusion are presented in this paper. The design involves solving two important stages of group fusion, namely, similarity search and fusion (MAX rule), while addressing embarrassingly parallel and parallel reduction models. The sequential, optimized sequential and parallel OpenMP of group fusion were implemented and evaluated. The outcome of the analysis from these three different design approaches influenced the design of parallel CUDA version in order to optimize and achieve high computation intensity. The proposed parallel CUDA performed better than sequential and parallel OpenMP in terms of both execution time and speedup. The parallel CUDA was 5-10x faster than sequential and parallel OpenMP as both similarity search and fusion MAX stages had been CUDA-optimized.
A complete solution for a soluble-boron-free (SBF) small modular reactor (SMR) is pursued with a new burnable absorber concept, namely centrally-shielded burnable absorber (CSBA). Neutronic flexibility of the CSBA design has been discussed with fuel assembly (FA) analyses. Major design parameters and goals of the SBF SMR are discussed in view of the reactor core design and three CSBA designs are introduced to achieve both a very low burnup reactivity swing (BRS) and minimal residual reactivity of the CSBA. It is demonstrated that the core achieves a long cycle length (~37 months) and high burnup (~30 GWd/tU), while the BRS is only about 1100 pcm and the radial power distribution is rather flat. This research also introduces a supplementary reactivity control mechanism using stainless steel as mechanical shim (MS) rod to obtain the criticality during normal operation. A further analysis is performed to investigate the local power peaking of the CSBA-loaded FA at MS-rodded condition. Moreover, a simple $B_4C$-based control rod arrangement is proposed to assure a sufficient shutdown margin even at the cold-zero-power condition. All calculations in this neutronic-thermal hydraulic coupled investigation of the 3D SBF SMR core are completed by a two-step Monte Carlo-diffusion hybrid methodology.

This paper presents a design for preventing coolant leaks in the core part of a heater mounted in a combat vehicle. The heater is a device that makes heated coolant flow through the heater core in the crew room. A problem with coolant leaks in the heater core area during the operation of a combat vehicle was identified. This problem is caused mainly by high pressure at the junction of the tank and tube due to the vulnerability of this area. To solve this problem, an improved core was made by improving the welding method and changing the end region of the heater core to a structure that can withstand high pressure. When pressure was applied sequentially to the existing core and improved core, a leak occurred at 7.0 kgf/㎠ in the existing core while the improved core maintained its structure up to 17.0 kgf/㎠, highlighting the improvement. Finally, performance tests and environment tests were conducted to demonstrate the suitability of the improved structure. The improved heater will be applied to combat vehicles. This paper is expected to serve as a reference for improving defense capabilities by securing reliability as well as the design and analysis of failures of similar equipment.nse capabilities through securing reliability as well as the design and analysis of failures of similar equipment.
A numerical analysis is conducted to estimate the core expansion and the energy behaviors induced by a core disruptive accident in a sodium-cooled fast reactor. The numerical formulation based on underwater explosion theory is carried out to simulate the core explosion inside the reactor vessel. The transient pressure, temperature and expansion of the core are examined by solving the equation of state and nonlinear governing equation of momentum conservation in one-dimensional spherical coordinates. The energy balance inside the computation domain is examined during the core expansion process. Heat transfer between the core and the sodium coolant, and the bubble rise during the expansion process are briefly investigated.
