On this study, magnetic force versus input currents is analyzed by modeling taper plunger type proportional electromagnet of ISC valve using the permernce method. And, the reliabiliy of simulation is verified by comparing the experimental values with the calaulate magnetic force. From the result of this study, it is found that the taper angles at plunger and core, the length of air gap between plunger and yoke are the prumary factors in designing taper plunget type proportional electromagnet. Magnetic force is decreased as a whole according to increasing the air gap between pluger and yoke, and vise versa. But, the magnetic force is not proportional to current, when the air gap is very small. In case of decreasing the taper angle of pluger, the stroke range of plunger where magnetic force is proportional to current becomes farther from core.

PURPOSE. One of the most important factors in evaluating the quality of fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) is their gap. The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal and internal gap of two different metal-ceramic crowns, casting and selective laser sintering (SLS), before and after porcelain firing. Furthermore, this study evaluated whether metal-ceramic crowns made using the SLS have the same clinical acceptability as crowns made by the traditional casting. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The 10 study models were produced using stone. The 20 specimens were produced using the casting and the SLS methods; 10 samples were made in each group. After the core gap measurements, 10 metal-ceramic crowns in each group were finished using the conventional technique of firing porcelain. The gap of the metal-ceramic crowns was measured. The marginal and internal gaps were measured by two-dimensional and three-dimensional replica techniques, respectively. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test, the Wilcoxon rank-sum test and nonparametric ANCOVA were used for statistical analysis (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. In both groups, the gap increased after completion of the metal-ceramic crown compared to the core. In all measured areas, the gap of the metal cores and metal-ceramic crowns produced by the SLS was greater than that of the metal cores and metal-ceramic crowns produced using the casting. Statistically significant differences were found between cast and SLS (metal cores and metal-ceramic crown). CONCLUSION. Although the gap of the FDPs produced by the SLS was greater than that of the FDPs produced by the conventional casting in all measured areas, none exceeded the clinically acceptable range.
A fluxgate magnetic sensor consists of a solenoid excitation coil, pick-up coil, and magnetic core. We presents the effect of magnetic core shape in a micromachined fluxgate sensor. To observe the performance of fluxgate sensor with magnetic core side width and gap, side width of 125 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 250 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were designed in a rectangular-ring shaped core and the gaps of 0 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were also fabricated in a racetrack shaped core. The solenoid coils and magnetic core were separated by benzocyclobutane(BCB) which had high insulation and good planarization characters. Copper coil patterns of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ width and 6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness were electroplated on Ti(300 $\AA$) / Cu(1500 $\AA$) seed layers. 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick N $i_{0.8}$F $e_{0.2.}$(permalloy) film for the magnetic core was also electroplated under 2000 gauss to induce the magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic core had the high DC effective permeability of ∼1,300 and coercive field of ∼0.1 Oe. Because the magnetic cores of 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ side width and 0 gap had a low magnetic flux leakage, high sensitivity of ∼350 V/T were measured at excitation condition of 3 $V_{P-P}$ and 2 MHz square wave. The power consumption of ∼14 ㎽ was measured. The fabricated fluxgate sensor had the very small actual size of 3.0${\times}$1.7 $\textrm{mm}^2$. When two fluxgates were perpendicularly aligned in terrestrial field, their two-axis output signals were very useful to commercialize an electronic azimuth compass for the portable navigation system.m.m.m.
An integrated two-in-one transformer applicable to PSUs for a 120 W LED TV is proposed. This transformer comprises a PFC inductor and an LLC transformer placed and integrated on an E-I-E type magnetic core. Performance is evaluated by observing the coupling coefficients of the proposed two-in-one transformer under various air gap topologies. Among the topologies studied, an integrated transformer with centered air gap shows stable operational characteristics with a minimized mutual coupling (interference). Furthermore, applicability of the proposed integrated transformer to PSUs for a 120 W LED TV is studied from the viewpoint of integrating different magnetic components into one core, resulting to low weight, low cost, and high power density.
The solid-state core of a heat pipe cooled reactor operates at high temperatures over 1000 K with thermal and irradiation-induced expansion during burnup. The expansion changes the gap thickness between the solid components and the material properties, and may even cause the gap closure, which then significantly influences the thermal and mechanical characteristics of the reactor core. This study developed an irradiation behavior model for HPRTRAN, a heat pipe reactor system analysis code, to introduce the irradiation effects such as swelling and creep. The megawatt heat pipe reactor MegaPower was chosen as an application case. The coupled irradiation-thermal-mechanical model was developed to simulate the irradiation effects on the heat transfer and stresses of the whole reactor core. The results show that the irradiation deformation effect is significant, with the irradiation-induced strains up to 2.82% for fuel and 0.30% for monolith at the end of the reactor lifetime. The peak temperatures during the lifetime are 1027:3 K for the fuel and 956:2 K for monolith. The gap closure enhances the heat transfer but caused high stresses exceeding the yield strength in the monolith.
We studied a method of manufacturing an anode to restrict contraction in reducing NiO/YSZ by uniformly mixing. In order to mix Ni and YSZ, a sub-micron Ni core surface was coated at high-speed by a mixture of nano-sized YSZ and a spherical core-shell was subsequently formed. The micron-sized core-shell anode powder was then heat treated at $400{\sim}1,450^{\circ}C$ in an air atmosphere and Ni was extruded and synthesized in nano-size. Subsequently, when the nano-sized mixture of the anode was heat treated and maintained at a temperature of $1,450^{\circ}C$, the anode was manufactured, where Ni and YSZ were uniformly distributed with the nano-structure. According to the nano-sized anode powder synthesis process, Ni particles were oxidized at $400{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ and became spherical by surface tension. In the case of the spherical core Ni powder, the heat treatment temperature rose to $1,250^{\circ}C$ and then a gap between the internal and external pressures occurred due to thermal and tensile stresses. A crack subsequently appeared on the surface, and the heat treatment temperature was increased continuously to increase the pressure gap and then the core Ni extruded as a nano-sized powder, Ni and YSZ uniformly distributed. It was found that the anode of 50~200 nm with a consistent structure obtained in this study has electric conductivity that is approximately 3 times larger than that of a commercial anode.

In this paper, various configurations of octagonal wound transformer core topology, which has previously proved advantages on conventional wound cores, are studied. Each configuration has different joint types and different placement of joint zones on the core. Magnetic flux distributions and power losses of each configuration are analyzed and compared. Comparisons are based on both 2D&3D finite element simulations and experimental studies. The results show that, joint types and their placements on the core cause local flux accumulations and dramatically affect power loss of the core.

This paper analyzes how much the gap existed between the public group and expert group using future issues and future core technologies that are announced in government institutions based on ontology. We calculated gap with two groups' point of view, one is expert groups' ideas that are based on future hopeful technologies documents, and another is public people ideas that are based on documents of contest that is hosted by 'Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP)', and 'Institute for Information & communications Technology Promotion (IITP)'. For calculating these, we suggested SDGM model. In the case of ETRI Meta-trend ICT Field, there is a little gap between expert group and public group, and another case that is XT (ETRI determined future technologies excluding ICT field) Field, the gap is increasing annually. Moreover, in the case of all ETRI Meta trend, the gap is bigger than ICT and XT field. We analyzed, also, KEIT's future issues for generalizing this model. The gap existed between two groups. Utilizing SDGM model of this paper, people can interpret easily how much the gap exists between future technologies and issues that are announced in institutions.
The applications of the pulse power technology are expanding and the necessity of a large current switch as a core component of pulsed power is increasing. A trigger gap switch composed of three electrodes was fabricated and the discharge characteristics were studied according to the change of the pressure, the shape of the main electrode, and the gap distance when the trigger pulse was applied. As a main result, the stable operation range was confirmed through the discharge inception voltage according to the gap distance and electric field analysis was performed in the same structure to confirm the electric field value of the discharge inception voltage.
The purpose of this paper is characteristic analysis of multi-disk axial-gap pm motor for turbo compressor. The axial-gap permanent magnet motor has shown a growing interest in high-speed application for its high-efficiency, compact size and low vibration characteristics due to core-less structure. To achieve high-power, the axial-gap PM motor has multi-disk structure of stator and rotor disk. Because of its complicated magnetic flux path, it is not easy to calculate a dynamic characteristics using finite element analysis. In this paper, the simplified 2-D unfolded model to predict EMF characteristic is presented. To verify thesuggested 2-D unfolded model analysis of back-EMF characteristic was calculated and compared 3-D finite element. Finally the proposed method is verified by experimental results and shows good agreement with test results.
