  • The cooperative communication systems using MIMO(multiple input multiple-output) relay are known as one of the most promising techniques to improve the performance and coverage of wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose the cooperative communication systems using the relay with multi-antennas and DSTC(distributed space time coding) for decode-and-forward protocol. As using DSTC for DF(decode-and-forward), we can minimize the risk of error propagation at the wireless system using relay system. Also, the MIMO channel cab be formed by multi-antenna and DSTC at the MS(mobile station)-RS(relay station) and at the RS-BS(base station). Therefore, obtaining truly constructive the MIMO diversity and cooperative diversity gain from the proposed approach, the performance of system can be more improved than one of conventional system (relay with single antenna, no relay). The improvement in bit error rate is investigated through numerical analysis of the cooperative communication system with the proposed approach.

  • A cooperative navigation method for cooperative flight of UAVs is proposed. The commonly used navigation method for UAVs is based on GNSS measurements. However, when it is not available by jamming or other causes, an alternative method is needed. In this paper, it is shown that UAVs equipped with inertial sensors, passive sensor and wireless communication link can perform accurate navigation through sharing information with each other. Firstly, the appropriate roles for sensors and wireless communication link are assigned. Secondly, a filter to perform navigation cooperative is constructed. Finally, the boundedness of estimation error of the filter under small initial estimation error is analyzed. The simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce navigation errors effectively.

  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, we propose a novel cooperative communication protocol adaptive to current UWB link transmission rate. The proposed cooperative communication protocol has compatibility with current WiMedia D-MAC and Wireless USB standard and is executed at each device according to a Relay Node Selection (RNS) criterion.

  • Wireless media communication has lower robustness and stability than wired communication because of narrow bandwidth and unstable channel state. To make up for the deficient points of wireless communication, we used the diversity effect of cooperation communication and the error correction effect of channel coding schemes. In this paper, the cooperative communication system with RCPC codes and Hybrid ARQ transmission scheme is proposed for improving reliability on wireless communication, and we executed these simulations. From the simulation results, proposed system is showed lower BER performance than legacy system. In addition, we confirm the fact that the channel state of Relay-node and source-node is more important than the channel state of Relay-node and destination-node.

  • In cooperative communication systems, the source terminal transmits signal to the destination terminal with the aid of partner terminals. Therefore, the source terminal obtains extra spatial diversity gain. As a result, its performance is enhanced in term of higher achievable transmission rate, the larger coverage range, and the lower bit-error-rate (BER). Space-time codes (STCs) have been applied to cooperative communication systems in distributed fashion, in which the signal is spatially time exploited to obtain gains analogous to those provided by STCs. In this work, we consider the application of orthogonal Space-time Block Codes (OSTBCs) to the cooperative communication systems to further achieve higher diversity gain. The advances of the proposed approach are verified via computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid cooperative scheme to improve the secrecy rate for a cooperative network in presence of multiple relays. Each relay node transmits the mixed signal consisting of weighted source signal and intentional noise. The problem of power allocation, the joint design of beamforming and jamming weights are investigated, and an iterative scheme is proposed. It is demonstrated by the numerical results that the proposed hybrid scheme further improves secrecy rate, as compared to traditional cooperative schemes.

  • This paper investigates optimal relay selection and power allocation under an aggregate power constraint for cooperative wireless sensor networks assisted by amplify-and-forward relay nodes. By considering both transmission power and circuit power consumptions, the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the destination node is calculated, based on which, a relay selection and power allocation scheme is developed. The core idea is to adaptively adjust the selected relays and their transmission power to maximize the received SNR according to the channel state information. The proposed scheme is derived by recasting the optimization problem into a three-layered problem-determining the number of relays to be activated, selecting the active relays, and performing power allocation among the selected relays. Monte Carlo simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides a higher received SNR and a lower bit error rate as compared to the average power allocation scheme.

  • Cooperative communications can significantly improve the wireless transmission performance with the help of relay nodes. In cooperative communication networks, relay selection and power allocation are two key issues. In this paper, we propose a relay selection and power allocation scheme RS-PA-PSACO (Relay Selection-Power Allocation-Particle Swarm Ant Colony Optimization) based on PSACO (Particle Swarm Ant Colony Optimization) algorithm. This scheme can effectively reduce the computational complexity and select the optimal relay nodes. As one of the swarm intelligence algorithms, PSACO which combined both PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and ACO (Ant Colony Optimization) algorithms is effective to solve non-linear optimization problems through a fast global search at a low cost. The proposed RS-PA-PSACO algorithm can simultaneously obtain the optimal solutions of relay selection and power allocation to minimize the SER (Symbol Error Rate) with a fixed total power constraint both in AF (Amplify and Forward) and DF (Decode and Forward) modes. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the system performance significantly both in reliability and power efficiency at a low complexity.
