Plastic products are producted more than 70% of total processes in the injection molding. The injection molding process has 4 processes such as filling, packing, cooling and ejecting. It spends most of times in the cooling process. Therefore, it is important to control the mold temperature in producing plastic products. The time and system of cooling affect the product's quality and productivity. Especially, cooling time has about 60% of total injection cycle time. Therefore, we can improve a productivity by shortening cooling time. In this study, it was made a comparative study about cooling of linear channels and baffles and observed the variation of mold temperature on the coolant's temperature. As the result, the linear channel's cooling rate had faster than baffles and as coolant's temperature was increased, difference of cooling time was increased. Result of this study will be used widely to design for cooling system of injection mold.

In this study, three kinds of metal chills such as SS400, AC4CH and brass, with different thicknesses of 40 ~ 80 mm, were applied for low pressure casting of Al-Si alloy to control cooling rate. The microstructural characteristics with increasing cooling rate were represented using factors including D1, D2, size of primary α phases and shape factor and size of eutectic Si. The tensile properties were investigated and additionally analyzed based on the microstructural characteristics. As the cooling rate increased, D1, D2, and sizes of primary α phases and eutectic Si apparently decreased and the shape factor of eutectic Si increased to over 0.8. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) and yield strength (YS) increased with decreasing D1, D2, and size of primary α phases, while elongation increased with decreasing size of eutectic Si and concurrently increasing shape factor of eutectic Si. This indicated that the primary α phases and eutectic Si in Al-Si alloy were refined with increasing cooling rate, resulting in improvement of UTS and YS without sacrificing elongation. After the tensile test, preferential deformation of primary α phases was observed in the Al-Si alloy produced at higher cooling rates of more than 0.1 K/s.
The aim of the present study is to find out the effect of cooling rate on the electrical behavior of ZnO varistors. The microstructure, 1-V characteristics and complex impedance spectra were investigated under the change of cooling rates. It is found that at cooling rate $200^{\circ}$/h, nonlinearity and breakdown voltage reached a maximum value which may show that good intergranular layer is formed as a results of proper cooling rate. Complex Impedance spectras were measured as a function of frequency range 100Hz to 13MHz to determine grain and grainboundary resistance. The semicircles were attributed to the dependence of grain and grainboundary resistance on cooling rates.
The effects of eight types of spheroidizing annealing conditions including annealing temperature, annealing time, cooling rate, and gas atmosphere in the annealing furnace on the microstructure were determined in SM45C steel which has been widely used for automotive parts. The well-developed spheroidized structure and minimum hardness were obtained when the steel was heat-treated 6 hours at $740^{\circ}C$, cooled to $710^{\circ}C$ at a cooling rate of $24^{\circ}C/h$, and then kept for 7 hours at the $710^{\circ}C$ followed by air cooling. In order to increase the productivity and to save the manufacturing cost, it is desirable to apply a faster cooling rate in the spheroidizing annealing. It was found that air cooling was the fastest cooling rate applicable to the SM45C steel. The steel heat treated in air showed the decarburized layer of about $110{\mu}m$ in thickness at the surface of the specimen, resulting in serious problems in the quality of the quenched product.

The effects of cooling rate and onset time of fatigue test on hot ductility of plain carbon steels containing 0.06$\sim$0.8 wt.% carbon were investigated at various temperatures. The tensile tested specimen after fatigue strain during cooling showed higher hot ductility than the specimen fatigued and tensile-strained after cooling. With a decreasing cooling rate from solutionizing temperature to test temperature, hot ductility was increased in all temperature ranges, typically in the trough region, and the minimum point of ductility moved to a lower temperature. Also, the depth and width of the trough decreased with lowering the cooling rate.
The peculiarity of ice slurry, such as liquidity, high heat transfer rate and easy storage can also find to supercooled type dynamic ice storage system(DISS) which is one of the DISS. However, in order to accomplish continuous ice formation in the system without mechanical moving parts, supercooled aqueous solutionshould be formed stable through cooling heat exchanger and be dissoluted in storage tank. In previous research, the time of ice slurry increased as the pressure of the cooling heat exchanger(PHX) increased. In this study, a cooling experiment of an ethylene glycol 7mass% solution was performed with various inlet temperature of the PHX, which has constant brine inlet temperature of $-7^{\circ}C$. The temperature in the storage tank maintained to freezing point of the solution. At results, the time of ice slurry formation increased as the supercooling degree decreased and the cooling rate increased.
To understand effects of cooling rates of coating layer on microstructures and corrosion behaviors of hot-dip alloy coated steel sheets (Zn-5%Al-2%Mg) in a neutral aqueous condition with chloride ion, a range of experimental and analytical methods were used in this study. Results showed that a faster cooling rate during solidification decreased the fraction of primary Zn, and increased the fraction of Zn-Al phase. In addition, interlamellar spacing became refined under a faster cooling rate. These modifications of the coating structure had higher open circuit potentials (OCP) with smaller anodic and cathodic current densities in the electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization. Surface analyses after a salt spray test showed that the increase in the Zn-Al phase in the coating formed under a faster cooling rate might have contributed to the formation of simonkolleite (Zn5(OH)8Cl2·H2O) and hydrotalcite (ZnAl2(OH)6Cl2·H2O) with a protective nature on the corroded outer surface, thus delaying the formation of red rust.
In order to evaluate the gravity-injection capability to maintain core cooling after a loss-of-shutdown-cooling event during shutdown operation, the plant conditions of the Yong Gwang Units 3&4 were reviewed. The six cases of possible gravity-injection paths from the refueling water tank (RWT) were identified and the thermal-hydraulic analyses were performed using the RELAP5/MOD3.2 code. The core cooling capability was significantly dependent on the gravity-injection path, the RCS opening, and the injection rate. In the cases with the pressurizer manway opening higher than the RWT water level, the coolant was held up in the pressurizer and the system pressure continued increasing after gravity-injection. The gravity injection eventually stopped due to the high system pressure and the core was uncovered. In the cases with the injection path and opening on the same leg side, the core cooling was dependent on whether the water injected from the RWT passed the core region or not. However, in the cases with the injection path and opening on the different leg side, the system was well depressurized after gravity-injection and the core boiling was successfully prevented for a long-term transient. In addition, from the sensitivity study on the gravity-injection flow rate, it was found that about 54 kg/s of injection rate was required to maintain the core cooling and the core cooling could be provided for about 10.6 hours after event with that injection rate from the RWT. Those analysis results would provide useful information to operators coping with the event.

In this study, the experimental investigation and theoretical analysis were conducted to verify the cooling capacity of the cryocooler used for pre-cooling of hydrogen gas. The effect of the flow rate on a copper pipe attached to the bottom of the cryocooler, which has a coil shape in a hydrogen line, was investigated. Temperature sensors were strategically placed at various positions on the cryocooler to analyze the temperature variations with respect to the flow rate. In this study, the thermal properties of hydrogen for the pressure and temperature were utilized using REFPROP to analyze the cooling capacity of the cryocooler. Based on the experimental results derived from this study, the cooling capacity of the cryocooler for pre-cooling hydrogen gas was considered by calculating the cooling temperature according to the flow rate through theoretical analysis.
In order to clarify the solidification mechanism of Al-Si alloy, Mushy Degree of Eutectic Solidification (MDE) and Centerline Feeding Resistance (CFR) were systematically studied by casting with various compositions of $Al-(6{\sim}18%)$ Si alloys into several kinds of molds having different cooling rates. The results are as follows: 1. CFR% increases slightly as solute concentration increases, but decreases remarkably as the cooling rate of the mold increases, that is, the composition dependence of the alloys has more effect on the change of CFR% than that of the mold cooling rate. 2. The composition dependence of MDE value has the same tendency as that of Degree of Eutectic Solidification (DES). MDE value within the range of hypereutectic composition is larger than that of hypoeutectic and it represents the maximum value at eutectic composition. The higher the cooling rate is, the less the MDE value is.
