  • Recently, district heating and cooling (DHC) systems based on combined cycle generation (CCG) providers are increasing in Korea. Since characteristics of combined heat and power (CHP) generators and heat demands of providers, heat trading between DHC providers based on the economic viewpoint is required; the heat trading has been doing. In this paper, a mathematical model for optimal operation based on heat trading between DHC providers is proposed. Especially, start-up characteristic of CCG is included. The operation model is established by mixed integer linear programming (MILP).

  • High speed machining is the core technology that influences the performance of machine tools, and the high speed motor spindle is widely used fur the high speed machine tools recently. The important problem in this spindle is to reduce and minimize the thermal effect by motor and bearing. In this study, the analysis of thermal characteristic of spindle is performed according to the cooling methods of housing by using finite element method. This result can be applied to the design and manufacture of the high speed spindle.

  • As a rocket propellent of hydrocarbon fuels, the characteristics of liquefied natural gas was evaluated with the viewpoint of the constituents and content, the cooling performance as a coolant, and characteristic velocity and specific impulse as parameters of the engine performance. Content of methane was a principal factor to determine the characteristics as a rocket propellant and more than 90 % of it was needed as a fuel and coolant in the regenerative cooled liquid rocket engine. Some constituents of the liquefied natural gas can be frozen by the pre-cooling of the pipe lines, therefore they can be a factor disturbing the normal working of engine. In case the content of methane is around 90% in the liquefied natural gas, a normalized stoichiometric O/F mixture ratio of 0.75 is suggested for a nominal operation condition to get the maximum specific impulse and characteristic velocity.

  • Cooling tower design procedure was set up using conventional Merkel theory, The design data could be different depending on the characteristic curve that the engineer chose. It reveals that the consistent and reasonable criteria are required based on the exact information of the cooling tower Performance. In this study, an off-design performance analysis program for a counterflow-type cooling tower was developed and verified by comparing with experimental data. Also, the off-design performance with various operating conditions was analyzed.

  • Since the performance of cooling tower is strongly dependent on the thermal performance of the packing, the evaluations of heat transfer rate and fan power from various packing have attracted intense interest. In the present study, two new packings have been devised and their performances have been compared with those of two existing packings to find better shape characteristic. It is found that one of the existing packings, which showed high heat transfer rate and medium fan power due to zig -zag flow passages and highly irregular surfaces, should be adapted.

  • Film cooling effectiveness on a flat plate was measured with pressure sensitive paint. The pressure sensitive paint(PSP) changes the intensity of its emissive light with pressure and the characteristic was used in film cooling effectiveness measurement. The film coolants were air and nitrogen, and by comparing the intensity of PSP coated surface with each coolant, the film cooling effectiveness was calculated. Three blowing ratio of 0.5, 1, and 2 were tested with two mainstream turbulence intensities. Results clearly showed the effect of blowing ratio and mainstream turbulence intensity. As the blowing ratio increases, the film cooling effectiveness was decreased near the film cooling holes. However, the film cooling effectiveness far downstream from the injection hole was higher for higher blowing ratio. As the mainstream turbulence intensity increased, the film cooling effectiveness was decreased at far downstream from the injection hole.

  • 연소기 노즐은 고온 고압의 연소가스를 화학에너지에서 운동에너지로 변환시켜 추력을 발생시킨다. 따라서 노즐 내부 벽면은 고온 고압의 연소가스에 노출되며, 특히 노즐 목에서는 최대 열하중을 받는 구간으로서 열구조적으로 안정성을 확보한 냉각 시스템 설계가 이루어져야 한다. 본 연소기 노즐은 수냉 방식으로서 열전달 효율을 높이기 위해 냉각 채널 구조로 되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 연소기 노즐을 위한 냉각 채널 구조의 기본 설계안에 대해 유동 해석을 수행하고 공급 압력 및 유량 변화에 따른 입/출구 사이의 압력 강하량을 예측하여 초기 형상안에 대한 압력 손실 및 설계 유량 공급을 위한 압력 조건에 대해서 평가하고자 하였다. 최종 선정안에 대해서는 내부 열전달 및 유동장 해석을 수행하여 흐름 및 열구조 안정성을 평가하였다.

  • Generally, A motor integrated spindle is selected to perform the high speed machining, to improve the machining flexibility, and to simplify the structure of machine tools. The thermal deformation caused by heat generation of the integrated motor is, however, serious problem in motor integrated spindle system. In this study, cooling characteristics for the several kinds of cooling systems(such as, oil-jacket cooling, air cooling) are investigated and more efficient cooling method is presented. The results show that the shaft cooling by the air cooling system is effective to improve the thermal characteristic of motor integrated spindle.

  • Cooling characteristics of cooling jacket for spindle system with built-in motor are studied. for the analysis, three dimensional model for the cooling jacket is built by using finite volume method. The three dimensional model includes the estimation on the amount of heat generation of bearing and built-in motor and the thermal characteristic values such as heat transfer coefficients on the boundary. The temperature distributions and the cooling characteristics are analyzed by using the commercial software FLUENT. Numerical results show that stream-wise cross section area and flow rate are important factors for cooling characteristics of cooling jacket. Cooling performance of cooling jacket is good in condition that stream-wise cross section's horizontal length is close to its vertical one and flow rate is high. This results show that heat transfer is dominated by velocity profile and heat transfer area.

공동주택 거실의 냉방방식에 따른 열환경 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of the Thermal Environment in the Cooling System at the Apartment)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of the thermal environment created by the cooling system at the apartment that combines the forced convection cooling(the system reducing humidity from room) with the floor cooling radiation which uses the floor panel from floor heating system, a general residential heating system in Korea. In this study, the combined cooling system in which air supply, spurt temperature difference and interior draft are reduced, is compared with the existing forced convection cooling system. To identify the effect of the comparison concretely, a comparative experiment is carried out on tour conditions, ie, convection cooling, floor radiation convection cooling and floor radiation cooling. Through it the characteristical thermal environment formed within the model room is analyzed, and the conveying system of compressed floor chill and condensation problem are reviewed.
