말하기는 곧 행위라는 주장이 화용론의 핵심명제이다. VTS 대화는 선박들의 효율적이고 안전한 항해를 위해 이루어지는 언어적 상호작용 행위이다. 본 연구에서는 모든 VTS 화행은 항해행위의 수행에 따른 부수적인 요소가 아니라 필수불가결한 요소라는 점에 주목하고자 하였다. 먼저 화용론에서 다루는 대화의 협력원칙, 공손원칙, 명령화행 및 약속화행의 적정성, 최소대화의 원칙을 VTS 대화 상황에 적용하여 VTS 화행의 특성을 정립하고자 하였다. 그리고 실제 발생했던 해양사고에서 선박 간 담화 또는 대화를 분석함으로써 화용론적 실패가 충돌사고에 어떻게 영향을 끼치는지를 검토해보았다. VTS 상황에서 이루어지는 담화 또는 대화분석을 통해 해양사고의 원인을 심도 있게 분석하는 방안과 이의 결과를 항해사 및 관제사 교육에 활용하는 방안을 제시하였다. 덧붙여서 co-Navigation 개념이 항해안전의 새로운 패러다임이 되어야 한다는 것을 주장하였다.

Speech intelligibility is investigated on a conference room-window glass coupled system. Using MLS(Maximum Length Sequency) signal as a sound source, acceleration and velocity responses of the window glass are measured by accelerometer and laser doppler vibrometer. MTF(Modulation Transfer Function) is used to identify the speech transmission characteristics of the room and window system. STI(Speech Transmission Index) is calculated by using MTF and speech intelligibility of the room and the window glass is estimated. Speech intelligibilities by the acceleration signal and the velocity signal are compared and the possibility of the wiretapping is investigated. Finally, intelligibility of the conversation sound is examined by the subjective test.

The effects of traffic noise are a serious concern in many urban communities throughout the world. Environmental noise at high intensities directly affects human health by causing hearing loss and indirectly affects human welfare by interfering with sleep, thought, and conversation. In general, portland cement concrete(PCC) pavement is known to create more noise than asphaltic surfaces though it has the advantage of durability and superior surface. However, the results of preliminary laboratory test showed exposed aggregate concrete(EAC) have an effect on reducing traffic noise. Based on the laboratory test, pilot construction of exposed aggregate concrete was performed and series of in-situ measurements were conducted for noise analysis which included the pass-by noise measurement and the close-proximity method. Conclusively, It is expected that tire/pavement noise which is represented much noise levels at higher frequencies would be significantly reduced on special textures of pavement as like exposed aggregate concrete.

This research analyzed elementary teacher's scientific questioning during science teaching. This research studied 4 elementary school teachers in Gyeongnam were observed and the classes were videotaped. all teacher's questioning and student's answering were transcribed. Teacher's questionings were categorized into 2 types such as simple questions and productive questions. The findings of the research were as following. First, in the teaching-learning activities of the science subject, teacher-student conversation was used 202 times on average, and questions asked by the teachers were 72 times on average. The teachers use productive questions more than simple questions. Second, in the type of simple questions, management questions were used the most, and the next were simple confirmation questions and rethink questions in order. Third, productive questions used by the teachers in the class were mostly the attention-focussing questions, but the type of higher level questions such as problem-posing questions, comparing questions, action questions and reasoning questions was rarely adopted.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the pattern and characteristics of elementary school teaching and learning processes in science based classes. The study participants' class was recorded in video and instructional conversation transcription. The pattern of the observed class was analyzed using the classification frame suggested by Mogan &Saxton(2006). In result, the questioning for elicit information was most frequent and questioning for shape understanding and the questioning for press for reflection in its priority. In result, the presence of elicited questioning for the attainment of knowledge and understanding is more prominent in science-based classrooms. It was revealed that the participating teachers used the questioning sentence pattern more frequently and the self-sustained inquiry that accelerates creative thinking of the student was lacking. It was discovered that teaching elicited questioning, which accelerates creative thinking, as well as fact confirmation pattern is a necessary element of training for teachers.

There has been no nuanimous analysis of specific indefinites. It is still disputed even whether specificity is a matter of semantics of pragmatics. In this paper, I introduce some properties of specific indefinites, and explain them based on the meaning of specificity. Specificity intuitively means that the speaker or someone else in the context has some individual in mind, which is generally accepted among liguistics. The main issue is how to represent the meaning of 'have-in-mind'. I review some philosophical discusstions of cognitive contact and show that when the use of an expression involves 'have-in-mind', the expression is rigid designator in the belief of the agent who has an individual in mind. in the use of a specific indefinite, this applies only to the information state of the agent of 'have-in-mind'. To represent this asymmetry, I propose a new theory of dynamic semantics, in which a common ground consists of multiple information states, as many as the number of the participants in a conversation. Moreover, each information state is structured as a set of epistemic alternatives, which is a set of possible information states of a participant in the context. Based on this semantics, the properties of specific indefinites are explained.

As social and cultural value has been changed, customers are demanding equipment innovation of passenger quarters to improve the satisfaction of their needs and the level of transfortation culture. To promote the convenience of passenger and abstract the facilities factor of passenger quarters design, this article analyzed and compared with the facilities factor of passenger quarters which have been operated in domestic and foreign country. While domestic passenger quarters is composed of seat, toilet and washroom, foreign passengers quarters consist of various factor such as familly room, infant room, business room, conversation room, and multipurpose room. Especially, foreign passenger quarters have provided passenger with diversity of attachment space, securing movement line for weak person, and arranging infant/child's space.

The purpose of this study was to discover knowledge about the sources and meanings of the children's living who is under the care of welfare institution. Participants were high school girls in Kwangju who offered unstructured description of their experience through interviews. The research was performed from March 2001 to September 2001. The results, analyzed and interpreted according to Gorgi's method of phenomenology, describe the structure of the phenomenon "living experience of the children under the institution care" with a relational perspective. The analysis revealed seven core themes : (1) anguish of heart against custom of institution, (2) resistance against their livelihood, (3) mortification on the distorted prejudice, (4) desire to escape, (5) fearfulness for the unreliable future, (6) self-pity, (7) challenge to the future. The foregoing argument suggest that children under the institutional care be supported by more mental health intervention and nurses be disciplined by supportive conversation technique.
