A dynamic load simulator which can reproduce on-ground the hinge moment of aircraft control surface is and essential rig for the loaded performance test of aircraft test of aircraft acutation system. The hinge moment varies wide in the aricraft flight enveloped depending on specific flight condition and maneuvering status. To replicate the wide spectrum of this hinge moment variation within some accuracy bounds, a force controller is designed based on the Quantiative Feedback Theory (AFT). Through the analysis on hinge moment dynamics, a design specification for the force controller is suggested. The efficacy of QFT force controller is verivied by simulation, in which combined aricraft dynamics/flight control law and hydraulic actuation system dynamics of aircraft control surface are considered.
An analysis methodology of Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control (DDSC) for the large-scale interconnected nonlinear systems is presented in this paper. While the centralized DSC approach proposed in [14] has a difficulty to check the quadratic stability for the large-scale systems numerically due to dramatic increases of the order of overall augmented error dynamics, DDSC is relatively easy to check the quadratic stability since lower order error dynamics of individual subsystems are used. Then, a systematic procedure for designing DDSC will be developed. Furthermore, after a quadratic function containing a reachable set is defined, it will be calculated numerically to indicate the performance of DDSC in the framework of convex optimization. Finally an illustrative example will be given for showing the advantages of DDSC compared with other decentralized nonlinear control techniques.
When the fuzzy logic controller (FLC), which is designed based on the plant model, is applied to the real control system, satisfactory control performance may not be attained due to modeling errors from the plant model. In such cases, the control parameters of the controller must be adjusted to enhance control performance. Until now, the trial and error method has been used, consuming much time and effort. To resolve such problem, response surface methodology (RSM), a new method of adjusting the control parameters of the controller, is suggested. This method is more systematic than the previous trial and error method, and thus optimal solutions can be provided with less tuning. First, the initial values of the control parameters were determined through the plant model and the optimization algorithm. Then, designed experiments were performed in the region around the initial values, determining the optimal values of the control parameters which satisfy both the rise time and overshoot simultaneously.
In this paper, we propose an adaptive neural dynamic surface control (DSC) approach with $H_{\infty}$ tracking performance for full dynamics of nonlinear flight systems. It is assumed that the model uncertainties such as structured and unstrutured uncertainties, and external disturbances influence the nonlinear aircraft model. In our control system, self recurrent wavelet neural networks (SRWNNs) are used to compensate the model uncertainties of nonlinear flight systems, and an adaptive DSC technique is extended for the disturbance attenuation of nonlinear flight systems. All weights of SRWNNs are trained on-line by the smooth projection algorithm. From Lyapunov stability theorem, it is shown that $H_{\infty}$ performance nom external disturbances can be obtained. Finally, we present the simulation results for a nonlinear six-degree-of-freedom F-16 aircraft model to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control system.
In this study, a complete 3D surface reconstruction method is proposed based on the concept that the vertices, of surface model can be completely matched to the unstructured point cloud. In order to generate the initial mesh model from the point cloud, the mesh subdivision of bounding box and shrink-wrapping algorithm are introduced. The control mesh model for well representing the topology of point cloud is derived from the initial mesh model by using the mesh simplification technique based on the original QEM algorithm, and the parametric surface model for approximately representing the geometry of point cloud is derived by applying the local subdivision surface fitting scheme on the control mesh model. And, to reconstruct the complete matching surface model, the insertion of isolated points on the parametric surface model and the mesh optimization are carried out. Especially, the fast 3D surface reconstruction is realized by introducing the voxel-based nearest-point search algorithm, and the simulation results reveal the availability of the proposed surface reconstruction method.
In this paper, the path tracking controller for a surface vessel based on the sliding mode control (SMC) with the switching law is proposed. In order to have no restriction on movement and improved tracking performance, the proposed control system is developed as follows: First, the kinematic and dynamic models in Cartesian coordinates are considered to solve the singularity problem at the origin. Second, the new multiple sliding surfaces are designed with the SMC and approach angle concept to solve the under-actuated property. Third, the switching control system is designed to improve tracking performance. To prove the stability of the proposed switching system under the arbitrary switching, the Lyapunov stability analysis method with the common Lyapunov function is used. Finally, the computer simulations are performed to demonstrate the performance, effectiveness and stability of the proposed tracking controller of a surface vessel.
A combined computational fluid dynamics(CFD)-Kirchhoff method is presented for predicting high-speed impulsive noise generated by a hovering blade. Two types of Kirchhoff integral formula are used; one for the classical linear Kirchhoff formulation and the other for the nonlinear Kirchhoff formulation. An Euler finite difference solver is solved first to obtain the flow field close to the blade, and then this flow field is used as an input to a Kirchhoff formulation to predict the acoustic far-field. These formulas are used at Mach numbers of 0.90 and 0.95 to investigate the effectiveness of the linear and nonlinear Kirchhoff formulas for delocalized flow. During these calculiations, the retarded time equation is also carefully examined, in particular, for the cases of the control surface located outside of the sonic cylinder, where multiple roots are obtained. Predicted results of acoustic far-field pressure with the linear Kirchhoff formulation agree well with experimental data when the control surface is at the certain location(R=1.46), but the correlation is getting worse before or after this specific location of the control surface due to the delocalized nonlinear aerodynamic flow field. Calculations based on the nonlinear Kirchhoff equation using a linear sonic cylinder as a control surface show a reasonable agreement with experimental data in negative amplitudes for both tip Mach numbers of 0.90 and 0.95, except some computational integration problems over a shock. This concliudes that a nonlinear formulation is necessary if the control surface is close to the blade and the flow is delocalized.
A grating composed of elliptical cylinders (GEC), specially designed, is applicable to control of radiation heat transfer from a heated surface, as reported in our previous work. In this study, an analysis of radiation heat transfer is performed for a physical model in which the GEC is placed in front of a heated black-base surface and the major axes of the elliptical cylinders are inclined as a certain angle from the normal to the row of elliptical cylinders. Numerical solutions are obtained. Variations of the direction and the radiative energy concentration with slant angle of the major axis are shown for some parameters. It is verified that the GEC is able to widely change the direction of radiation heat transfer from the heated surface.
In this study, the surface modification for a silicon(Si) mold using $CHF_3$ inductively coupled plasma(ICP). The conditions under that plasma was treated a input ICP power 600 W, an operating gas pressure of 10 mTorr and plasma exposure time of 30 sec. The Si mold surface became hydrophobic after plasma treatment in order to $CF_x$(X= 1,2,3) polymer. However, as the de-molding process repeated, it was investigated that the contact angle of Si surface was decreased. So, we attempted to investigate the degradation mechanism of the accurate pattern transfer with increasing the count of the de-molding process using scanning electron microscope (SEM), contact angle, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis of Si mold surface.

In this study, the equivalent plate model is developed using a finite element method(FEM) based on the first order shear deformation theory(FSDT). The substructure synthesis method is used to consider the control surface. For the verification of the equivalent model, the results of free vibration analysis are compared with the ones of 3D wing structure modeled by using the MSC/NASTRAN.
