  • The study purpose was to investigate psychosocial factors related to smoking among adolescent boys. The Theory of Planned Behavior provide the basis for the study. Twenty-five attitudinal beliefs, 9 normative beliefs and 20control beliefs were identified through questionnaire development. The data were analyzed using t-test and χ2-test. Thirty-three percent of 300 students were smokers. Most of the beliefs examined were significantly different between smokers(n=92) and nonsmokers(n=92). With respect to attitudinal beliefs, smokers responded less negatively on the items of bad health effects of smoking such as sore throat, headache, chest pain, risk of cancer and bad blood circulation(p<0.001), and decreased physical strength(p<0.05). Smokers believed less negatively on the items that smoking leads to bothering others, bad breath, yellow teeth and making them spend money(p<0.001). In contrast, smokers felt more positively on smoking as a means of stress management, relaxing, helping digestion(P<0.001). Smokers felt less pressure for not smoking from significant others. Especially mother, siblings, friends, girl friends, seniors of school were important sources of influence regarding subject's smoking. Smokers felt less confident in controlling the urge to smoke in several situations including; when they were with friends or asked to smoke by friends; after the meal, or drinking; when they were bored or stressed, upset, and when they felt unstable(p<0.001). Smokers also scored lower on specific skills to quit or control the urge to smoke as well as overall perceived control, compared to nonsmokers(p<0.001). These results suggest that interventions for adolescents incorporate diverse strategies to increase the perceived control over smoking in specific situations as well as overall perceived control, to help them realize and modify attitudinal beliefs, and to elicit support from significant others for not smoking. • The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships between hope, health locus of control and general health of nursing students. The subjects of this study were 161 female students of National Nursing School in Seoul. Data was collected through a questionnaire from May 11 to May 23, 1998. The tools used for this study were Hope scale developed by Miller and Power, Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale developed by Wallston and Wallston and General Health Scale(Modified Conel Medical Index) developed by Nam Ho Chang. Data were analysed in an the $SPSS/pc^+$ program using frequency for the demographic characteristics, 1-test and ANOVA for relationship between the variables and demographic characteristics and for it's differences of hope and general health control. Peason correlation coefficient for relationship between the 3 variables, hope, health locus of control, and general health. The results of this study were as follows ; The 1st hypothesis : that 'Between hope, health locus of control (HLC) and general health of nursing students will have positive relationship', was supported(=.2883, p=.000). The 2nd hypothesis; that 'The hope score of nursing students in HLC-internal group will be higher than others' was supported(F=5.22, p=.0063). The 3rd hypothesis ; that 'The general health of nursing students in HLC -internal group will be higher than others' was accepted(F=2.94, p=.0554). The 4th hypothesis ; that 'Hope, HLC and general health of nursing students according to demographic characteristics will be different ' was accepted in part. o In hope the more age, the higher score. o In HLC the group of non religious have higher score(t=-2.02, p=.045). o No experienced addmission was revealed HLC-internal group(t=-1.91, p=.058). o Non religious group has a tendency to dependent upon on powerful other person(t=-1.99, p=.049). o The hope score of nursing students was very high(4.49/6point). o The general health status of nursing students was vert good(92.88/114point). o Most of nursing students was in HLC-internal group(81.4%). o The most frequent complaints of nursing students was dizziness suddenly developed(68.4/114point), very nervous in small thing(67.83/114) and very nervous to others critics(68.4/114) in turn. In conclusion, the students who have high score of hope, in HLC-internal group have good general health. Hope inspiring not only makes one's good health but also makes others good health and powering hope. For good health person who are in HLC-internal group have powerful hope, keeping good health would be a good stretegy to change the student's HLC and make them good health and hope powering then it would be a good method to change the HLC to HLC-internal group.

  • The purposes of this study is to identify the relationship between coping strategies and the nursing organizational effectiveness in hospital nurses and to provide the basic data concerning the development of job stress management program for hospital nurses. The subjects showed that the twenties and single nurses who had worked under one year used more frequently 'the avoid and the symptom coping strategies' better than 'the control'. Also, they showed significantly lower satisfaction and higher 'the intent to leave' than others. The main factors that affected the satisfaction and 'the intent to leave' were age and the control coping strategies. In conclusion, this study showed that the staff nurses who were twenties, single, and new employed used more frequently 'the avoid and symptom management coping strategies' than others. Also they showed lower satisfaction and higher 'the intent to leave' than others. So Age and the control coping strategies should be considered in the development of staff nurses' stress management program. Especially, it was needed to focused on the nurses who were twenties, single, and new employed.

  • Physicochemical characteristics of Kochujang based on hot-air dried the red pepper powders with different treatments, were investigated during 90 days fermentation to obtain information for the industrial production of Kochujang. The pH was decreased gradually during fermentation, and pH of the control Kochujang was consistently higher than those of others. The total acidity was increased linearly during fermentation, and Kochujang with 0.1% vitamin C was consistently higher than others. Reducing sugar contents of Kochujang was increased until 75 days but was decreased slightly thereafter, showing highest value for the control sample. Amino nitrogen contents was increased gradually until 75 days, showing highest value for Kochujang with mash-dried red pepper powder, but it was decreased remarkably thereafter The L and a values of Kochujang were increased, whereas b value was decreased during fermentation. L, and b values of Kochujang with mash-dried red pepper powder were higher than those of others, showing the more light and deep color than others. Appearance, taste and overall acceptability of Kochujang based on mash-dried red pepper powder were higher than others.

  • Shaped Sound Focusing is defined as the generation of acoustically bright shape in space using multiple sources. The acoustically bright shape is a spatially focused region with relatively high acoustic potential energy level. In view of the energy transfer, acoustical focusing is essential because acoustic energy is very small to use other type of energy. Practically, focused sound shape control not a point is meaningful because there are so many needs to enlarge the focal region especially in clinical uses and others. If focused sound shape can be controlled, it offers various kinds of solutions for clinical uses and others because a regional focusing is essentially needed to reduce a treatment time and enhance the performance of transducers. For making the shaped-sound field, control variables, such as a number of sources, excitation frequency, source positioning, etc., should be taken according to geometrical sound shape. To verify these relations between them, wavenumber domain matching method is suggested because wavenumber spectrum can provide the information of control variables of sources. In this paper, the procedures of shaped sound focusing using wavenumber domain matching and relations between control variables and geometrical sound shape are covered in case of an acoustical ring.
