Coordination between supply chain partners is viewed critical to effective supply chain management. Depending on the bargaining power balance between them, it is determined who will be able to exert more influence in making decisions related with such coordination. We consider two cases of the decision-making structure in the context of a simple supply chain consisting of two players, i.e., (1) the first case in which a supply chain partner dominates the decision-making process and the other passively follows the dominant player's decision, and (2) the other case in which the two players share the decision-making process equally. In this paper, we examine which of the cases is better for the companies and where comes the value of the better case. To answer the research questions, we set up an optimal control theory model and derive an analytical solution. The analysis outcome indicates that the shared decision-making in general produces better results for both companies in the supply chain, and the value of the shared decision-making comes from more effective resource utilization than the dominated case.
Studies on the ship's automatic navigation & berthing control have been continued by way of solving the ship's mathematical model but the results of such studies have not reached to our satisfactory level due to its non-linear characteristics ar low speed. In this paper the authors propose a new berthing control system which can evaluate as closely as captain's decision-making by using the FNN(Fuzzy Neural Network) controller which can simulate captain's decision-making by using the FNN(Fuzzy neural Network) controller which can simulate captain's knowledge. This berthing controller consists of the navigation subsystem FNN controller and the berthing subsystem FNN controller. The learning data are drawn from Ship Handling Simulator (NavSim NMS90 MK III) and represent the ship motion characteristics internally According to learning procedure both FNN controllers can tune membership functions and identify fuzzy control rules automatically The verified results show the FNN controllers effective to incorporate captain's knowledge and experience of berthing.
In this paper, we propose a method of cooperative control based on immune system in distributed autonomous robotic system(DARS). Immune system is living body's self-protection and self-maintenance system. Thus these features can be applied to decision making of optimal swarm behavior in dynamically changing environment. For the purpose of applying immune system to DARS, a robot is regarded as a B lymphocyte(B cell), each environmental condition as an antigen, and a behavior strategy as an antibody respectively. The executing process of proposed method is as follows. When the environmental condition changes, a robot selects an appropriate behavior strategy. And its behavior strategy is simulated and suppressed by other robot using communication. Finally much simulated strategy is adopted as a swarm behavior strategy. This control scheme is based on clonal selection and idiotopic network hypothesis. And it is used for decision making of optimal swarm strategy.
When we compare different control charting schemes, the average run length of each control chart is usually used. The use of the average run length implies that there is unbounded number of samples or observations. The regression recursive residuals, however, have been applied to the cumulative sum chart to detect whether the mean or variance changes. To implement choice of decision interval, we calculate the probability that certain fixed number of control statistics stay in the in-control state. This probability can be used as the significance level of a test for detecting the change in the residual mean or variance of the data with a finite number of observations.
Purpose: The study evaluated a program to shorten EMC stay time. Methods: The subjects were EMC patients, and comprised a control group of 8,477 and an experimental group of 8,378. Data were collected from June 2006 to August 2007, and analyzed concerning stay time for doctor visit, decision making, and discharge. The data were analyzed by $X^2$-test and ANCOVA using SPSS14.0. Result: The stay time of doctor visit, decision making and discharge of the experimental group was significantly less compared to the control group. Using second and third grade triage criteria, the stay time of experimental group was statistically reduced from the control. Conclusion: The implemented shortening program was effective in reducing EMC stay time and increasing EMC effectiveness.
A new RMFSOC(Reference Model Following Self-Organizing Controller) is proposed. It is composed by adding the reference model and decision rule to the Mamdani's SOC. The reference model is introduced to explicitly specify the control performance. The self-organizing level of the RMFSOC organizes the control rule which makes the process output follow the reference output generated by the reference model. In order to avoid unnecessary control rule modification, a decision rule is also introduced to determine whether the control rule modification is needed or not.
The support or automation of various kinds of intelligent work is urged at large, integrated control centers. Given this demand, a decision making system for wash timing of polluted insulators, applying the Bayesian rule theory, has been developed in order to support maintenance work in the power system. The results of this system application revealed that exact wash timing of the insulators could be determined automatically, equivalent in precision to judgement by skilled operators, thus contributing to further work efficiency.
This study investigated the effect of the environmental issue analysis instruction on the decision making ability of middle school students. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The participants for the research were 288 1st grade male students in middle school in Seoul, the environmental issue analysis lesson group consisted of 142 members and the non-environmental education group consisted of 146 members. The cognitive level of the students were divided into three groups-concrete, transition, formal-as the result of GALT test. Students take issue analysis lessons during 6 weeks, one lesson per a week. Students had studied through worksheets reconstructed and developed by researcher on basis of issue analysis suggested by Ramsey et al. (1997). The results of the research were followings: After lesson for environmental issue analysis, all of the students were improved in decision-making ability regardless of cognitive level (p<.05). Especially, decision-making ability of the transition group students was improved to a high degree. Scores of searching relevant information, generation of alternatives, identification of values for selection criteria, the evaluation of alternatives' merits and demerits, prediction of consequence were increased in experimental group (p<.05). But the ability of selection of alternatives according to value was not reached statistically meaningful improvement. The decision-making ability of the control group students was not improved but ability of selection of alternatives, the evaluation of consequence were increased (p<.05).
This paper presents a framework of a optimal supervisory controller, which consists of decision rules and the supervisory controller proposed by Ramadge and Wonham. From the presented framwork we obtain optimal control patterns minimizing the given cost functions. The properties of the presented optimal supervisory controller are discussed. Two examples are given to illustrate a designing method of the optimal supervisory controller.
