  • Using the Kalman filtering technique, we propose a novel method for estimating the missing video frames to monitor the activities inside the control room of a nuclear power plant (NPP). The purpose of this study is to reinforce the existing security and safety procedures in the control room of an NPP. The NPP control room serves as the nervous system of the plant, with instrumentation and control systems used to monitor and control critical plant parameters. Because the safety and security of the NPP control room are critical, it must be monitored closely by security cameras in order to assess and reduce the onset of any incidents and accidents that could adversely impact the safety of the NPP. However, for a variety of technical and administrative reasons, continuous monitoring may be interrupted. Because of the interruption, one or more frames of the video may be distorted or missing, making it difficult to identify the activity during this time period. This could endanger overall safety. The demonstrated Kalman filter model estimates the value of the missing frame pixel-by-pixel using information from the frame that occurred in the video sequence before it and the frame that will occur in the video sequence after it. The results of the experiment provide evidence of the effectiveness of the algorithm.

  • Purpose: Cloud-computing technology has several advantages, including maintenance, management, accessibility, and computing power. A greenhouse-control system utilizing these advantages was developed using a private cloud-computing system. Methods: A private cloud needs a collection of servers and a suite of software tools to monitor and control cloud-computing resources. In this study, a server farm, operated by OpenStack as a cloud platform, was constructed using servers, and other network devices. Results: The greenhouse-control system was developed according to the fundamental cloud service models: infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, and software as a service. This system has four additional advantages - security, control function, public data use, and data exchange. There are several considerations that must be addressed, such as service level agreement, data ownership, security, and the differences between users. Conclusions: When the advantages are utilized and the considerations are addressed, cloud-computing technology will be beneficial for agricultural use.

  • The SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems are used to control some critical national infrastructures such as electricity, gas, and water distribution systems. Recently, there are many researches on key management scheme for secure communication due to change to the open network environment. We propose a new key management method which is established on ID-based cryptosystem using pairing on MTU(Master Terminal Unit), Sub-MTU, and RTU(Remote Terminal Unit). Furthermore, we present a redistribution protocol of private key of each device and a system recovery protocol as a countermeasure of exposure of KMS(Key Management System) master key which is occurred by some unexpected accidents or malicious attacks.

  • Smart devices refer to various devices and control equipment such as health care devices, imaging devices, motor devices and wearable devices that use wireless network communication (e.g., Wi-fi, Bluetooth, LTE). Commercial services using such devices are found in a wide range of fields, including home networks, health care and medical services, entertainment and toys. Studies on smart devices have also been actively undertaken by academia and industry alike, as the penetration rate of smartphones grew and the technological progress made with the fourth industrial revolution bring about great convenience for users. While services offered through smart devices come with convenience, there is also various security threats that can lead to financial loss or even a loss of life in the case of terrorist attacks. As attacks that are committed through smart devices tend to pick up where attacks based on wireless internet left off, more research is needed on related security topics. As such, this paper seeks to design an access control method for reinforced security for smart devices. After registering and authenticating the smart device from the user's smart phone and service provider, a safe communication protocol is designed. Then to secure the integrity and confidentiality of the communication data, a management process such as for device renewal or cancellation is designed. Safety and security of the existing systems against attacks are also evaluated. In doing so, an improved efficiency by approximately 44% compared to the encryption processing speed of the existing system was verified.

  • Purpose: Occupational stress is a determinant risk factor for cardiovascular disease and work disability. This study aims to describe occupational stress and identify its related factors among aged security guards. Methods: A random sample of 76 aged security guards were interviewed by three research assistants. The criteria of the subjects were as follows : 50 or older male with 40 or more working hours a week working with colleagues ranged from 3 to 50. The data were collected in September, 2007 and analyzed by multiple regression using SAS Version 9.1. Results: The mean score of occupational stress among aged security guards was 47.2. The mean scores of its sub-scales were 31.3(physical environment), 33.8(occupational demand), 80.8occupational control), 44.6(interpersonal conflict), 51.3 (occupational insecurity), 53.6(occupational system), 57.5(lack of reward), and 30.3(work environment). The scores of occupational control, interpersonal conflict, and occupational insecurity were higher than the scores of Korean average occupational stress sub-scales. Significant variables affecting occupational stress and its sub-scales were work place, work type, and employment type. Conclusion: In order to reduce occupational stress among security guards, sufficient occupational control and interpersonal conflict control, appropriate reward, and employment stability should be considered. Also long working hours and work shift should be improved.

  • In addition to the rapid development of health information technology services for the development of new medical information, a lot of research is underway. Improve health care services for patients are many ways to help them. However, no information about the security, if only the technology advances in health care systems will create an element of risk and threat. Today's issues and access issues are stable over a public network. Ad hocsensor network using secure, non-integrated health information system's security vulnerabilities does not solve the security vulnerabilities. In the development and utilization of health information systems to be subject to greater restrictions. Different security policies in an environment with a medical information system security policy mechanism that can be resolved if people get here are needed. • Real-time substructuring techniques are currently an advanced experimental method for testing large size specimens in the laboratory. In dynamic substructuring, the whole tested system is split into two linked parts, the part of particular interest or nonlinearity, which is tested physically, and the remanding part which is tested numerically. To achieve near-perfect synchronization of the interface response between the physical specimen and the numerical model, a good controller is needed to compensate for transfer system dynamics, nonlinearities, uncertainties and time-varying parameters within the physical substructures. This paper presents the substructuring approach and control performance of the linear and the adaptive controllers for testing the dynamic characteristics of soil-structure-interaction system (SSI). This is difficult to emulate as an entire system in the laboratory because of the size and power supply limitations of the experimental facilities. A modified linear substructuring controller (MLSC) is proposed to replace the linear substructuring controller (LSC).The MLSC doesn't require the accurate mathematical model of the physical structure that is required by the LSC. The effects of parameter identification errors of physical structure and the shaking table on the control performance of the MLSC are analysed. An adaptive controller was designed to compensate for the errors from the simplification of the physical model in the MLSC, and from parameter identification errors. Comparative simulation and experimental tests were then performed to evaluate the performance of the MLSC and the adaptive controller.

  • Until now, there have been various studies against Internet worms. Most of intrusion detection and prevention systems against Internet worms use detection rules, but these systems cannot respond to new Internet worms. For this reason, a malicious process control system which uses the fact that Internet worms multicast malicious packets was proposed. However, the greater the number of servers to be protected increases the cost of the malicious process control system, and the probability of detecting Internet worms attacking only some predetermined IP addresses is low. This paper presents a security framework that can reduce the cost of the malicious process control system and increase the probability of detecting Internet worms attacking only some predetermined IP addresses. In the proposed security framework, virtual machines are used to reduce the cost of control servers and unused IP addresses are used to increase the probability of detecting Internet worms attacking only some predetermined IP addresses. Therefore the proposed security framework can effectively respond to a variety of new Internet worms at lower cost.

  • For activating home network, the security service is positively necessary and especially the access control supports secure home network services and differentiated services. But, the existing security technology for home network seldom consider access control or has a architecture to be dependent on specific middleware. Therefore, in this paper we propose a scheme to support integrated access control in home network to use XACML, access control standard of next generation, to have compatability and extensibility and we design and implement XACML access control system based on this. we also had m access control experiment about various policy to connect developed XACML access control system with the UPnP proxy based on OSGi in order to verify compatability with existing home network system.
