  • A dynamical analysis and PID control of a compressed gas expulsion system is performed. The purpose of this study is to develop a compressed gas discharging system and to verify the validity of the system. The electro-hydraulic servo valve is modeled as a 3th order transfer function to calculate flow force affecting expulsion valve is significantly considered. The friction force in the expulsion valve is considered as a nonliner model of stribeck effect. The dynamic characteristics of this system is examined by the computer simulation. The position control of the expulsion valve is performed by PID controller.

  • In this paper, we present an effective method for comparing control flow graphs which represent static structures of binary programs. To compare control flow graphs, we measure similarities by comparing instructions and syntactic information contained in basic blocks. In addition, we also consider similarities of edges, which represent control flows between basic blocks, by edge extension. Based on the comparison results of basic blocks and edges, we match most similar basic blocks in two control flow graphs, and then calculate the similarity between control flow graphs. We evaluate the proposed edge extension method in real world Java programs with respect to structural similarities of their control flow graphs. To compare the performance of the proposed method, we also performed experiments with a previous structural comparison for control flow graphs. From the experimental results, the proposed method is evaluated to have enough distinction ability between control flow graphs which have different structural characteristics. Although the method takes more time than previous method, it is evaluated to be more resilient than previous method in comparing control flow graphs which have similar structural characteristics. Control flow graph can be effectively used in program analysis and understanding, and the proposed method is expected to be applied to various areas, such as code optimization, detection of similar code, and detection of code plagiarism.

  • Glove valves are used for various purposes in the process control field because such valves enable easy control of temperature and pressure. However, such valves are associated with significant loss of pressure and also have the disadvantage of complicating the shape of the cage or plug to facilitate linear flow rate change. In this paper, the shape of the plug, one of the valve flow control elements, was designed to improve the flow characteristics of the glove valve, and then CFD analysis was performed using compressible fluid. The numerical analysis results of the glove valve were analyzed according to the opening ratio and the pressure ratio of the valve. From these results, it was found that the proper notch on the side of the plug contributed to reducing the energy loss of the fluid through the valve and improving the linearity of the valve.

  • In the present work, characteristics of the flow in CAGE of a steam turbine LP/HP Bypass control valve for thermal power plant are investigated. The flow field is analyzed numerically by solving steady three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Shear stress transport (SST) model is used as turbulence closure.

  • Flow force is the additional unbalanced force acting on the valve spool by fluid flow, excluding the static pressure force that is offset on the spool land wall at the same magnitude. When designing the valve spool, it is assumed that the same average value of static pressure is applied to the inlet and outlet spool land wall in one chamber. However, the high velocity of the fluid flow by the inlet or outlet metering orifice creates unbalanced pressure distribution and generates additional force in the opposite direction to that of the solenoid attraction force. This flow force has a negative effect on the control performance of the EPPR valve, which needs to develop uniform output pressure along the entire spool control range. In this study, we developed a 3D model of the EPPR valve and conducted flow force characteristic analysis using CFD S/W (ANSYS FLUENT). The alleviated flow force model was derived by adjusting the design parameters of the spool notch.

  • This paper addresses the technology of active flow control for stabilizing a flow field. In order for flow field modeling from the control point of view, the huge-data set from CFD(computational fluid dynamics) are reduced by using a POD(Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) method. And then the flow field is expressed with dynamic equation by low-order modelling approach based on the time and frequency domain analysis. A neural network flow estimator from the pressure information measured on the surface is designed for the estimation of the flow state in the space. The closed-loop system is constructed with feedback flow controller for stabilizing the vortices on the flow field.

  • Flow divider valve, a kind of hydraulic control valve to divide the flow from one input line to two output line uniformly, should be able to keep the constant flow to output lines despite of the change load or supply pressure. Having 5-10% flow diving error in commercial hydraulic products is one of main source of the accumulated error caused hydraulic system problem and demands the development of flow divider valve to control flow more accurately, In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of flow divider valve are investigated by the numerical estimation of the spool motion considered the external supply force. The optimum design of flow divider valve are proposed to reduce the flow diving error. For the dynamic characteristics analysis, the change of sectional area of fixed and variable orifice, and spool are studied when the input signal is accepted to a constant load.

  • Butterfly valves are used in various industries to control the flow rate, flow direction, pressure, and temperature. These are gaining popularity in the field of plant industry to enable high-differential pressure because of their low maintenance costs and ease of installation. This study presents a numerical analysis method to analyze changes in the flow characteristics of a high-differential pressure control butterfly valve based on the location and shape of the orifice. The numerical analysis was conducted using a commercial CFD program. The analysis results show a correlation between the orifice shape and cavitation phenomenon.

  • This paper discusses several low-temperature heat-tranfer fluids, including water-based inorganic salt, organic salt, alcohol/glycol mixtures, silicones, and halogenated hydrocarbons in order to choose the best heat-transfer fluid for the newly designed direct contact refrigeration system. So, it contains a survey on commercial products such as propylene glycol and potassium formate as newly used in super market and food processing refrigeration. The stability of commercial fluids at the working temperature of $-20^{\circ}C$ was monitored as a function of time up to two months. And organic and inorganic compositions of candidate fluids were obtained by analytical instruments such as ES, XRF, AAS, ICP-AES, GC, and GC-MS. Analysis results indicate that commercial propylene glycol is very efficient and safe heat transfer fluids for the direct cooling system with liquid phase.

  • The modeling and the numerical analysis are done so as to develop the Computer Aided Design program for the design of flow control valve attached to the vane pump. The factors affecting the flow rate characteristics, are analyzed by the experiments and the numerical methods. It is shown that the main factor affecting to the first control flow is the diameter of small rod of the spool, the main factor affecting to the second control flow is the diameter of big rod of the spool, the main factors affecting to the cut off are the main spring constant, the initial displacement of main spring and small diameter of the spool, and the dropping slope characteristics of flow rate are decided by the chamfer of spool and the dynamic characteristics of the spool.
