  • This paper deals with self-tuning of fuzzy control systems. The fuzzy logic controller(FLC) has parameters that an: input and output scaling factors to effect control output. Tuning method is proposed for the scaling factor. In this paper. it is studied to control and to monitor the remote system statues using SOAP for communicate between the server part and the client part. The remote control system is controlled by using a web browser or a application program. The server part is waiting for the request of client part that uses internet network for communication each other and then the request is reached. the server part saves client data to the database and send a command set to the client part and then the client part sends command to controller in a cool chamber. The administrator can control and monitor the remote system just using a web browser. The effects of membership functions, defuzzification methods and scaling factors are investigated in the FLC system.

  • In this paper, the design and the implementation of the controller for an articulate robot, which is developed in our Automatic Control Laboratory, are mainly discussed. The controller reduces software computational load via distributed processing method using multiple CPU's, and simplifies structures by the time-division control with TMS320C31 DSP chip. The method of control is based on the fuzzy-compensated PID control with scale factor, which compensates for the influence of load variation resulting from the various postures of the robot with conventional PID scheme. The application of the proposed controller to the robot system with DC servo-motors shows some excellent control capabilities. Also, the response characteristics of system for the various trajectory commands verify the superiority of the controller.

  • The ultimate goal of periodontal treatment has been to facilitate regeneration of diseased periodontal tissues, destroyed by inflammatory periodontal disease. For regeneration of the periodontium to occur, all of component tissues must be restored to their original position and architecture. Growth factors which were known to promote the cellular processes, ie, proliferation, migration and matrix synthesis, have been in the spotlight of current periodontics. Platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF) stimulates collagen and non collagen protein synthesis, migration and proliferation of periodontal ligament cells. Insulin-like growth factor(IGF) has potentials to induce collagen and bone matrix synthesis so that it regulates normal bone remodeling. Application of the combination have been known to facilitate formation of bone and cementum, and to synergistically interact to promote coronal migration and proliferation of periodontal ligament cells. These two growth factors have been reported to exhibit positive effect in the periodontally diseased teeth or class m furcation defects. The aim of the present study was to test the hypothesis that PDGF-BB alone or the combination of PDGF-BB and IGF-I can predictably enhance regeneration of the periodontium in the dehiscence defect. Following the resection of premolars, roots were embedded. After 12 weeks of healing period, standardized experimental $4{\times}4mm$ dehiscence defects were created on the mid-facial of the premolar roots in each of 4 young adult dogs. In control group, only methylcellulose gel was inserted in the defects. In experimental group I and II, gel with $2{\mu}g$ of PDGF-BB or $2{\mu}g$ of PDGF-BB and $1{\mu}g$ of IGF-I was inserted in the defects, respectively. At 8 weeks postsurgery, the dogs were sacrificed. The results were observed histologically and analyzed histomorphometrically. The results of this study were as follws. 1. The new cementum formation was $1.26{\pm}0.69mm$ in the control group, $1.80{\pm}0.84mm$ in the experimental group I, $1.93{\pm}0.51mm$ in the experimental group II. The experimental group III, the experimental group I, the control group were in the order of cementum formation without statistically significant differences between control and all experimental groups. 2. The new bone formation was $1.00{\pm}0.53mm$ in the control group, $1.53{\pm}0.63mm$ in the experimental group I, $l.33{\pm}0.45mm$ in the experimental group II. The experimental group I, the experimental group II, the control group were in the order of bone formation without statistically significant differences between control and all experimental groups. 3. The root resorption was $1.12{\pm}0.64mm$ in the control group, $1.34{\pm}0.73mm$ in the experimental group I, $0.79{\pm}0.59mm$ in the experimental group II without statistically significant differences between control and all experimental groups. These results suggested that the use of PDGF-BB alone or PDGF-BB and IGF-I in the dehiscence defects might facilitate periodontal regeneration in some degree, but has not shown statistically significant results.

  • The compound active clamp zero voltage soft switching (CACZVS) three-phase power factor correction (PFC) converter has many advantages, such as high efficiency, high power factor, bi-directional energy flow, and soft switching of all the switches. Triple closed-loop PI controllers are used for the three-phase power factor correction converter. The control objectives of the converter include a fast transient response, high accuracy, and unity power factor. There are six parameters of the controllers that need to be tuned in order to obtain multi-objective optimization. However, six of the parameters are mutually dependent for the objectives. This is beyond the scope of the traditional experience based PI parameters tuning method. In this paper, an improved chaotic particle swarm optimization (CPSO) method has been proposed to optimize the controller parameters. In the proposed method, multi-dimensional chaotic sequences generated by spatiotemporal chaos map are used as initial particles to get a better initial distribution and to avoid local minimums. Pareto optimal solutions are also used to avoid the weight selection difficulty of the multi-objectives. Simulation and experiment results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, interleaved boost converter is applied as a first-stage converter in switch mode power supply. The first-stage converter plays a role to improve power factor. Interleaved Boost Power Factor Corrector(IBPFC) can reduce input current ripple as a single voltage control loop only without inner current loop, because input current is divided each 50% by two switching devices. Each converter cell is also operated in discontinuous current mode and inductor current of each converter is discontinuous. Total input current which is composed by each converter cell is continuous current. Thus, IBPFC is able to improve input current ripple. IBPFC operating in discontinuous current mode can be classified as six modes from switching state and be carried out state space averaging small signal modeling. A control transfer function is obtained according to the modeling. Not only steady-state characteristics but also dynamic characteristics is considered. Single voltage control loop is also constructed by the control transfer function. From experimental result, improvement of power factor and input current ripple are verified.

  • We have studied the speed regulation of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) servo system in this paper. To optimize the PMSM servo system's speed-control performance with disturbances, a non-linear speed-control technique using a back-propagation neural network (BP-NN) algorithm forthe controller design of the PMSM speed loop is introduced. To solve the slow convergence speed and easy to fall into the local minimum problem of BP-NN, we develope an improved BP-NN control algorithm by limiting the range of neural network outputs of the proportional coefficient Kp, integral coefficient Ki of the controller, and add adaptive gain factor β, that is the internal gain correction ratio. Compared with the conventional PI control method, our improved BP-NN control algorithm makes the settling time faster without static error, overshoot or oscillation. Simulation comparisons have been made for our improved BP-NN control method and the conventional PI control method to verify the proposed method's effectiveness.

  • This paper develops a flow control block for a hydraulic system of a tunnel boring machine. The flow control block is a necessary component to ensure stability in the operation of the hydraulic system. In order to know the pressure distribution of the flow control block, the flow analysis was performed using the ANSYS-CFX. It was confirmed that the pressure and flow rate were normally supplied to the hydraulic system even if one of the four ports of the flow control block was not operated. In order to evaluate the structural stability of the flow control block, structural analysis was performed using the ANSYS WORKBENCH. As a result, the safety factor of the flow control block is 1.54 and the structural stability is secured.

  • This study was a cross-sectional descriptive research to analyze the effects of sub-factors of cognitive emotional control on happiness levels. The participants of the study were 201 men and women in their 20s, and data were collected online from January 1 to 15 collected data were, 2001 using structured cognitive control and happiness level questionnaires. The collected data were conducted Independent t-test, Pearson correlation analysis, simple regression analysis, multiple regression Analysis, hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 statistic program. As a result, the study appeared that the level of happiness by gender does not differ, and cognitive emotional control affected 58.5%. The average of cognitive emotional control was higher for all men, but women were higher than men in criticized others. Also, acceptance was the sub-factor of emotional control that most affected the level of happiness (β=-.587, p<0.01). Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that a systematic program on subject of acceptance, a sub-factor of cognitive emotional control, should be developed to improve the level of happiness.

  • This paper presents a scheme to improve the line current distortion of power factor corrector (PFC) topology at the zero crossing point using a predictive control algorithm in both the continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The line current in single-phase PFC topology is distorted at the zero crossing point of the input AC voltage because of the characteristic of the general proportional integral (PI) current controller. This distortion degrades the line current quality, such as the total harmonic distortion (THD) and the power factor (PF). Given the optimal duty cycle calculated by estimating the next state current in both the CCM and DCM, the proposed predictive control algorithm has a fast dynamic response and accuracy unlike the conventional PI current control method. These advantages of the proposed algorithm lower the line current distortion of PFC topology. The proposed method is verified through PSIM simulations and experimental results with 1.5 kW bridgeless PFC (BLPFC) topology.
