Experimental Study on the Effects of Jungchuntang (정천탕(定喘湯)의 효능(效能)에 관한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究))

  • These studies were carried out to investigate the effect of Jungchuntang water extract on the inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine in rat. The results of these studies were as follows; 1. Contractile force of acetylcholine from trachea smooth muscle in rat was significantly inhibited by Jungchuntang. 2. Dose-response of acetylcholine pretreated Jungchuntang in rat was not significantly changed. 3. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated propranolol in rat was decreased. 4. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated indomethacin was not significantly changed by Jungchuntang. 5. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated methylene blue was significantly changed by Jungchuntang. 6. Contractile force of acetylcholine from trachea smooth muscle in rat was significantly inhibited by Jungchuntang. 7. Dose-response of acetylcholine pretreated Jungchuntang in rat was not significantly changed. 8. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated propranolol in rat was decreased. 9. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated indomethacin was not significantly changed by Jungchuntang. 10. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated methylene blue was significantly changed by Jungchuntang.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Gooboeum extract on the inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine in the control and sensitized rat. The results were obtained as follows: 1. The acetylcholine contractile force of the trachea smooth muscle with epithelium was significantly relaxed by Gooboeum. 2. Dose-response of acetylcholine from the trachea smooth muscle pretreated Gooboeum was not changed. 3. Effect of Gooboeum on the inhibitory contractile action of trachea smooth muscle pretreated propranolol was not significantly inhibited. 4. The inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine of trachea smooth muscle pretreated indomethacin was not significantly changed by Gooboeum. 5. Effects of Gooboeum extract on the inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine of trachea smooth muscle pretreated methylene blue was not significant. 6. The contractile force of acetylcholine of the trachea smooth muscle without epithelium was significantly inhibited by Gooboeum. 7. Dose-response of acetylcholine of the trachea smooth muscle pretreated Gooboeum was not significant. 8. Effects of Gooboeum extract on the inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine of the trachea smooth muscle pretreated propranolol was significantly inhibited. 9. Effects of Gooboeum extract on the inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine of the trachea smooth muscle pretreated indomethacin decreased. 10. Effects of Gooboeum extract on the inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine of the trachea smooth muscle pretreated methylene blue was not significant.

  • The study was carried out to investigate the effect of Kwandongwhasan extract and its constituent herbs onthe contractile force of isolated guineapig trachealis muscle and to elucidate its mechanism. The results of this study were as follows; 1. Kwandongwhasan significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by histamine. 2. Kwandongwhasan significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by acetylcholine. 3. Kwandongwhasan significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by 5-hydrooxytryptamine. 4. Kwandongwhasan significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by prostaglandin $F2\;{\alpha}$ 5. Herba Ephedrae (麻黃), Semen Armeniacae(杏仁), Cortex Mormi(紫白皮), and Flos Farfarae (款冬花), extract significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by histamine, acetylcholine, 5-hydroxytryptamine and prostaglandin $F2\;{\alpha}$. 6. Radix Glycyrrhdzae(甘草) extract significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by prostaglandia $F2\;{\alpha}$. 7. Rhizoma Anemarrhenae(知母) extract significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle by histamine. 8. Bulbus Fritillariae(貝母) and Tuber Pinelliae(半夏) extract did not inhibit the significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated guinea pig trachealis muscle.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of Mahwangtang and Gamimahwangtang extract and its constituent herbs on the contractile force of rat tracheal smooth muscle treated with acetylcholine and to elucidate its mechanism. The results of this study were follows ; 1. Mahwangtang and Gamimahwangtang significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated rat tracheal smooth muscle by acetylcholine, and Gamimahwangtang more significantly effects than Mahwangtang. 2. Gamimahwangtang without Ephedrae Herba significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated rat tracheal smooth muscle by acetylcholine and less inhibited the contractile force than Gamimahwangtang. 3. Gamimahwangtang without Fritillariae Roylei Bulbus, Platycodi Radix, Cinnamomi Ramulus, significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated rat tracheal smooth muscle by acetylcholine and less inhibited the contractile force than Gamimahwangtang. 4. Gamimahwangtang without Armeniacae Amarum Semen, Glycyrrhizae Radix significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated rat tracheal smooth muscle by acetylcholine and its difference did not to the Gamimahwangtang. 5. Gamimahwangtang without Ginseng Radix significantly inhibited the contractile response of isolated rat tracheal smooth muscle by acetylcholine and more significantly effects than Gamimahwangtang.

  • Effects of Haenginbanhatang Extract on the Contraction of Isolated Guinea Pig Trachea Smooth Muscle. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Haenginbanhatang extract on the contractile force of the isolated guinea pig trachea smooth muscle and elucidate its mechanism. The results were obtained as follows: 1. The contratile response of the trachea smooth muscle of the guinea pig to histamine was significantly inhibited by Haenginbanhatang. 2. Effects of Haenginbanhatang extract on the contractile response of the isolated guinea pig smooth muscle pretreated propranolol was not significant. 3. The contractile response of isolated guinea pig smooth muscle pretreated methylene blue was significantly inhibited by Haenginbanhatang, 4. The contractile response of the trachea smooth muscle of the guinea pig to prostaglandin F2a was significantly inhibited by Haenginbanhatang. 5. Effect of prostaglandin F2a on the contractile response of guinea pig smooth muscle pretreated Haenginbanhatang was not significant. According to the above results, it was suggested that the contractile response mechanism of the guinea pig smooth muscle to Haenginbanhatang was related to cyclic GMP.

The results of these studies were as follows: 1. Contractile force of acetylcholine from tracheal smooth muscle in control rat was significantly inhibited by Macmundongtang. 2. Inhibition contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated ACH $ED_{50}$ in control rat was significantly changed. 3. Dose-response of acetylcholine pretreated Macmundongtang in control rat was not significant. 4. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated propranolol in control rat was not significantly changed by Macmundongtang. 5. Inhibitory contractile action of acetylcholine pretreated methylene blue in control rat was significantly changed. 6. Contractile force of acetylcholine pretreated indomethacin from trachea smooth muscle in control rat was not significantly inhibited by Macmundongtang.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Yeemosan extract on the contractile force of the isolated guinea pig trachea smooth muscle and elucidate its mechanism. The results were obtained as follows: 1. The contractile response of the trachea smooth muscle of isolated guinea pig to acetylcholine was significantly inhibited by Yeemosan. 2. The contractile response of the trachea smooth muscle of isolated guinea pig pretreated propranolol was significantly inhibited by Yeemosan. 3. Effects of Yeemosan extract on the contractile response of the isolated guineapig trachea smooth muscle pretreated methylene blue was not significant. 4. The contractile response of the trachea smooth muscle of isolated guinea pig to prostaglandin $F2{\alpha)$ was significantly inhibited by Yeemosan. 5. Effects of prostaglandin $F2{\alpha)$ on the contractile response of the isolated guinea pig trachea smooth muscle pretreated Yeemosan was not significant. According to the above results. it was suggested that the contractile response mechanism of the guinea pig trachea smooth muscle to Yeemosan was related to sympathetic nervous system receptor and other mechanism should have further study.
