  • Many studies and policies are suggested for customer satisfaction to survive in multimedia content service markets. there are policies like a segregating the clients using the contents service and allocating the media server's resources distinctively by clusters using the cluster analysis method of CRM. The problem of this policy is fixed allocation of media server resources. It is inefficient for costly media server resource. To resolve the problem and enhance the utilization of media server resource, the ACRFA (Adaptive Client Request Filtering Algorithm) was suggested per cluster to allocate media server resources by flexible resource allocation method.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive multimodal in-vehicle information system for safe driving. The proposed system filters input information based on both the priority assigned to the information and the given driving situation, to effectively manage input information and intelligently provide information to the driver. It then interacts with the driver using an adaptive multimodal interface by considering both the driving workload and the driver's cognitive reaction to the information it provides. It is shown experimentally that the proposed system can promote driver safety and enhance a driver's understanding of the information it provides by filtering the input information. In addition, the system can reduce a driver's workload by selecting an appropriate modality and corresponding level with which to communicate. An analysis of subjective questionnaires regarding the proposed system reveals that more than 85% of the respondents are satisfied with it. The proposed system is expected to provide prioritized information through an easily understood modality.

  • Finite element method (FEM) provides several advantages over other numerical methods such as boundary element method, since it allows truly volumetric analysis and incorporation of realistic electrical conductivity values. Finite element mesh generation is the first requirement in such in FEM to represent the volumetric domain of interest with numerous finite elements accurately. However, conventional mesh generators and approaches offered by commercial packages do not generate meshes that are content-adaptive to the contents of given images. In this paper, we present software that has been implemented to generate content-adaptive finite element meshes (cMESHes) based on the contents of MR images. The software offers various computational tools for cMESH generation from multi-slice MR images. The software named as the Content-adaptive FE Mesh Generation Toolbox runs under the commercially available technical computation software called Matlab. The major routines in the toolbox include anisotropic filtering of MR images, feature map generation, content-adaptive node generation, Delaunay tessellation, and MRI segmentation for the head conductivity modeling. The presented tools should be useful to researchers who wish to generate efficient mesh models from a set of MR images. The toolbox is available upon request made to the Functional and Metabolic Imaging Center or Bio-imaging Laboratory at Kyung Hee University in Korea.

  • This study examines and compares various recommendation techniques which have been used successfully in other fields and seeks for opportunity to improve design personalization service more effectively. Throughout the literature study, several major recommendation techniques were identified, namely 'contents-based filtering', 'collaborative filtering', and 'demographic filtering'. In order for finding out relative advantages and disadvantages, a case study was carried out by applying different techniques. The result showed that in general, demographic filtering was evaluated least efficient among the techniques. Content-based filtering showed the best efficiency among them. Another significant finding was that the collaborative filtering had a better efficiency as the number of test subjects is increased. In conclusion, we suggest that design recommendation services can be improved by applying contents-based or collaborative filtering for better efficiency of recommendation. And, if the number of test subjects is large enough, it may be possible to remarkably improve the efficiency of design recommendation services by using collaborative filtering.

  • As multimedia contents demand and supply increase, internet traffic around the world increases. Several standardization groups are striving to establish more efficient compression standards to mitigate the problem. In particular, research to introduce deep learning technology into compression standards is actively underway. Despite the fact that deep learning-based technologies show high performance, they suffer from the domain gap problem when test video sequences have different characteristics of training video sequences. To this end, several methods have been made to introduce content-adaptive deep video compression. In this paper, we will look into these methods by three aspects: codec information-aware methods, model selection methods, and information signaling methods.

  • In this paper, an adaptive MEMD based modal identification technique for linear time-invariant systems is proposed employing multiple vibration measurements. Traditional empirical mode decomposition (EMD) suffers from mode-mixing during sifting operations to identify intrinsic mode functions (IMF). MEMD performs better in this context as it considers multi-channel data and projects them into a n-dimensional hypercube to evaluate the IMFs. Using this technique, modal parameters of the structural system are identified. It is observed that MEMD has superior performance compared to its traditional counterpart. However, it still suffers from mild mode-mixing in higher modes where the energy contents are low. To avoid this problem, an adaptive filtering scheme is proposed to decompose the interfering modes. The Proposed modified scheme is then applied to vibrations of a reinforced concrete road bridge. Results presented in this study show that the proposed MEMD based approach coupled with the filtering technique can effectively identify the parameters of the dominant modes present in the structural response with a significant level of accuracy.

  • There are a lot of influences, such as location of camera, luminosity, brightness, and direction of light, which affect the performance of 2-dimensional image recognition. This paper suggests an adaptive method for face-image recognition in noisy environments using evolvable filtering and feature extraction which uses one sample image from camera. This suggested method consists of two main parts. One is the environmental-adjustment module which determines optimum sets of filters, filter parameters, and dimensions of features by using "steady state genetic algorithm". The other another part is for face recognition module which performs recognition of face-image using the previous results. In the processing, we used Gabor wavelet for extracting features in the images and k-Nearest Neighbor method for the classification. For testing of the adaptive face recognition method, we tested the adaptive method in the brightness noise, in the impulse noise and in the composite noise and verified that the adaptive method protects face recognition-rate's rapidly decrease which can be occurred generally in the noisy environments.

  • Multispectral image is wavelet trans formed and classified into one of three classes considering reference characteristics of the subband with the lowest resolution. Recently, aegis of authentitation and creator's copyright has become a matter of great concern by the diffusion of multimedia technique and the growth of the internet and the easily duplicated property of digital data. Consequently, many active researches have been made to protect copyright and to assure integrity by inserting watermark into the digital data. In this paper, watermark is repeated through the entire image and adapted to the content of the image.

  • An Adaptive Clustering-based Collaborative Filtering Technique was proposed to solve the fundamental problems of collaborative filtering, such as cold-start problems, scalability problems and data sparsity problems. Previous collaborative filtering techniques were carried out according to the recommendations based on the predicted preference of the user to a particular item using a similar item subset and a similar user subset composed based on the preference of users to items. For this reason, if the density of the user preference matrix is low, the reliability of the recommendation system will decrease rapidly. Therefore, the difficulty of creating a similar item subset and similar user subset will be increased. In addition, as the scale of service increases, the time needed to create a similar item subset and similar user subset increases geometrically, and the response time of the recommendation system is then increased. To solve these problems, this paper suggests a collaborative filtering technique that adapts a condition actively to the model and adopts the concepts of a context-based filtering technique. This technique consists of four major methodologies. First, items are made, the users are clustered according their feature vectors, and an inter-cluster preference between each item cluster and user cluster is then assumed. According to this method, the run-time for creating a similar item subset or user subset can be economized, the reliability of a recommendation system can be made higher than that using only the user preference information for creating a similar item subset or similar user subset, and the cold start problem can be partially solved. Second, recommendations are made using the prior composed item and user clusters and inter-cluster preference between each item cluster and user cluster. In this phase, a list of items is made for users by examining the item clusters in the order of the size of the inter-cluster preference of the user cluster, in which the user belongs, and selecting and ranking the items according to the predicted or recorded user preference information. Using this method, the creation of a recommendation model phase bears the highest load of the recommendation system, and it minimizes the load of the recommendation system in run-time. Therefore, the scalability problem and large scale recommendation system can be performed with collaborative filtering, which is highly reliable. Third, the missing user preference information is predicted using the item and user clusters. Using this method, the problem caused by the low density of the user preference matrix can be mitigated. Existing studies on this used an item-based prediction or user-based prediction. In this paper, Hao Ji's idea, which uses both an item-based prediction and user-based prediction, was improved. The reliability of the recommendation service can be improved by combining the predictive values of both techniques by applying the condition of the recommendation model. By predicting the user preference based on the item or user clusters, the time required to predict the user preference can be reduced, and missing user preference in run-time can be predicted. Fourth, the item and user feature vector can be made to learn the following input of the user feedback. This phase applied normalized user feedback to the item and user feature vector. This method can mitigate the problems caused by the use of the concepts of context-based filtering, such as the item and user feature vector based on the user profile and item properties. The problems with using the item and user feature vector are due to the limitation of quantifying the qualitative features of the items and users. Therefore, the elements of the user and item feature vectors are made to match one to one, and if user feedback to a particular item is obtained, it will be applied to the feature vector using the opposite one. Verification of this method was accomplished by comparing the performance with existing hybrid filtering techniques. Two methods were used for verification: MAE(Mean Absolute Error) and response time. Using MAE, this technique was confirmed to improve the reliability of the recommendation system. Using the response time, this technique was found to be suitable for a large scaled recommendation system. This paper suggested an Adaptive Clustering-based Collaborative Filtering Technique with high reliability and low time complexity, but it had some limitations. This technique focused on reducing the time complexity. Hence, an improvement in reliability was not expected. The next topic will be to improve this technique by rule-based filtering.
