고추의 게놈 분석 (Analysis of Red Pepper (Capsicum annuum) Genome)

  • Thermal denaturation, reassociation kinectics 및 핵부피 측정 방법으로 고추 게놈의 염기 조성, kinetic component 및 게놈 크기를 조사하였다. 변성온도(Tm)에 근거한 고추 게놈의 염기 조성은 37% (G+C)였으며, Cot 커브에 근거한 고추 게놈은 카피수가 10,754, 178 및 1이고 kinetic complexity가 $5.6{\times}10^{3}\;bp,\;1.9{\times}10^{6}\;bp\;및\;1.9{\times}10^{8}\;bp$인 3개의 성분이 게놈의 4.2%, 26% 및 65%를 차지하고 있었다. 이로부터 계산한 고추 게놈의 크기는 $1.25{\times}10^{9}\;bp/C$인데, 이는 핵부피($62.4\;\mu\textrm{m}^3/C$)로부터 계산한 $4.053{\times}10^{9}\;bp/C$의 약 33%에 해당한다.

진달래꽃(Rhododendron mucronulatum Flos.) 추출물로부터 Helicobacter pylori 억제 효과를 가지는 phenol성 물질의 정제 및 동정 (Purification and Identification of Phenol Compounds with Inhibitory Activity on Helicobacter pylori from Rhododendron mucronulatum Flos. Extracts)

  • 진달래꽃을 60% ethanol로 추출하여 추출물의 H. pylori에 대한 저해활성의 측정과 저해물질의 분리 및 동정을 시행하였다. 또한 H. pylori균에 대한 항균활성은 60% ethanol 추출물에서 phenol 화합물을 200${\mu}g/ml$ 이상 주입하였을 때부터 22 mm이상의 clear zone이 관찰되어 H. pylori균에 대한 높은 항균력을 나타내었다. 저해물질의 분리는 Sephadex LH-20 column을 이용하여 분리한 결과 6개의 fraction으로 분리되었으며, H. pylori 저해활성을 나타낸 fraction D를 MCI-gel CHP-20 column을 이용하여 normal phase type인 ethanol 100%에서 0%로 농도를 감소시키며 용출한 결과 5개의 단일 물질 분획을 얻을 수 있었다. 그 중 세 가지의 물질에 대해 H. pylori저해활성이 나타나 FAB-MS, $^1H$$^{13}C$ NMR 및 IR spectrum을 사용하여 구조 동정한 결과 quercitrin (quercetin-3-O-rhamnopyranoside), myricitrin (myricetin-3-O-rhamnopyranoside) 및 quercetin인 것으로 확인되었다.

미역의 아미노酸 및 비타민에 對한 營養學的 硏究 (Studies on the Nutrition of Amino Acids and Vitamins in Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar)

  • Leuconostoc mesenteroides P-60, Lactobacillus arabinosus 17-5, Streptococcus faecalis R have been successfully used for the quantitative determination of sixteen amino acids in Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar hydrolysate by alkaline and hydrolysis for succesive two hours from two to twelve hours, by means of microbiological assay. And thiamine and riboflavin were fluorometrically determinated by thiochrome and lumiflavin in powder (80mesh) of Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar. The results were as follows: 1) Arginine contents was the highest in hydrolysate for two hours, but longer the hydrolysis, the more content Undaria pinnatifida was decreased. 2) The adequate contents of other amino acids were obtained by hydrolysis for six hours. 3) Growth check and improve of Lactobacillus were not identified in determination by microbiological assay for Undaria pinnatifida. 4) The following values were obtained in Undaria pinnatifida hydrolysate six hours: asparatic acid 466, arginine 230, lysine 317, histidine 74, isoleucine 242, methionine 202, phenylalanine 256, proline 231, threonine 231, tyrosine 161, valine 415, glycine 302, leucine 414, glutamic acid 625, cystine (5 hrs.) 53 and tryptophan (8 hrs.) 90mg per nitrogen one gram. 5) Protein score was 81 (limiting factor was isoleucine) and essential amino acids pattern was of satisfactory results. And methionine contained was higher than FAO value or milk value. 6) Sulphur contained amino acids (methionine plus cystine) contained in Undaria pinnatifida were 225mg/N-g. That was satisfactory results. 7) Absorption spectrum of wave length were not different 1% HAc from buffer-sol. (pH 6.8) in dilution for determination of riboflavin. Both methods might be suitable. 8) Thiamine and riboflavin contained in Undaria pinnatifida were ($B_1,\;82.51{\pm}1.1){\gamma}/N-g\;and\;(B_2,\;115.29{\pm}1.5){\gamma}/N-g.$.

개불(Urechis unicinctus) 당단백질의 성분조성과 특성 (Chemical Composition of Glycoprotein from Urechis unicinctus)

  • To confirm the food quality of Urechis unicinctus which have been favored as a special raw seafood in southern area in Korea, the chemical composition of Urechis unicinctus and those glycoprotein were studied. Freeze dried Urechis unicinctus was composed of more than 70% of crude protein and 15% of total carbohydrate. The amino acids such as glycine(18.69%), glutamic acid(12.50%) and aspartic acid(9.37%) were noted as major components of total amino acids. The predominant free amino acids were alanine(32.98%), glycine(27.50%), asparagine(19.65%) and taurine(8.29%), and the sum of them were more than 88% to total free amino acids, so they may cause unique taste of Urechis unicinctus with sweetness. As the basis of sugar composition analysis, 56.35% of glucose and 30.49% of N acetylglucosamine were contained respectively, and they might also play an important role in a sweet taste. The leading carbohydrate moiety of glycoprotein from Urechis unicinctus was identified as glucose and N acetylglucosamine similarly to raw muscle, and they occupied more than 50% of total sugar content. Fucose(18.32%) and D glucuronic acid(12.31%) also detected in higher levels com pared to raw muscle. The total amino acid profile of glycoprotein showed a similar trend to raw muscle protein but glycine was detected a significantly lower than that in raw muscle. The glycoprotein from Urechis unicinctus was composed of 4 kinds of subunits, i.e. 25kDa, 20kDa, 18kDa and 12.5kDa of molecular weights through the SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. On the basis of the IR spectrum of absorptions appeared in 1,240cm-1 and 850cm-1, the glycoprotein had sulfate groups.

Applications of Discrete Wavelet Analysis for Predicting Internal Quality of Cherry Tomatoes using VIS/NIR Spectroscopy

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the feasibility of using a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) method as a preprocessing tool for visible/near-infrared spectroscopy (VIS/NIRS) with a spectroscopic transmittance dataset for predicting the internal quality of cherry tomatoes. Methods: VIS/NIRS was used to acquire transmittance spectrum data, to which a DWT was applied to generate new variables in the wavelet domain, which replaced the original spectral signal for subsequent partial least squares (PLS) regression analysis and prediction modeling. The DWT concept and its importance are described with emphasis on the properties that make the DWT a suitable transform for analyzing spectroscopic data. Results: The $R^2$ values and root mean squared errors (RMSEs) of calibration and prediction models for the firmness, sugar content, and titratable acidity of cherry tomatoes obtained by applying the DWT to a PLS regression with a set of spectra showed more enhanced results than those of each model obtained from raw data and mean normalization preprocessing through PLS regression. Conclusions: The developed DWT-incorporated PLS models using the db5 wavelet base and selected approximation coefficients indicate their feasibility as good preprocessing tools by improving the prediction of firmness and titratable acidity for cherry tomatoes with respect to $R^2$ values and RMSEs.

  • 1%, 2%, 5% 및 10%의 가교도를 가진 스틸렌 디비닐벤젠 공중합체에 1-aza-15-crown-5 거대고리 리간드를 치환반응으로 결합시켜 cryptand 이온교환 수지들을 합성하였다. 이들 수지의 합성은 염소 함량과 원소 분석 그리고 IR-스펙트럼으로 확인하였다. 우라늄 ($UO{_2}^{2+}$) 이온의 흡착에 미치는 pH, 시간, 수지의 가교도 그리고 용매의 유전상수에 따른 영향들을 조사하였다. 우라늄 이온은 pH 3 이상에서 큰 흡착율을 보였으며, 금속 이온들의 흡착 평형은 2시간 정도였다. 한편, 에탄올 용매에서 수지에 대한 흡착 선택성은 우라늄 ($UO{_2}^{2+}$), 마그네슘 ($Mg^{2+}$), 네오디뮴 ($Nd^{3+}$) 이온이었고, 우라늄 이온의 흡착력은 1%, 2%, 5% 및 10%의 가교도순 이었으며, 용매의 유전상수 크기에 반비례하였다.

Enhancing Robustness of Information Hiding Through Low-Density Parity-Check Codes

  • With the rapid growth of internet technologies and wide availability of multimedia computing facilities, the enforcement of multimedia copyright protection becomes an important issue. Digital watermarking is viewed as an effective way to deter content users from illegal distributions. In recent years, digital watermarking has been intensively studied to achieve this goal. However, when the watermarked media is transmitted over the channels modeled as the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, the watermark information is often interfered by the channel noise and produces a large number of errors. So many error-correcting codes have been applied in the digital watermarking system to protect the embedded message from the disturbance of the noise, such as BCH codes, Reef-Solomon (RS) codes and Turbo codes. Recently, low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes were demonstrated as good error correcting codes achieving near Shannon limit performance and outperforming turbo codes nth low decoding complexity. In this paper, in order to mitigate the channel conditions and improve the quality of watermark, we proposed the application of LDPC codes on implementing a fairly robust digital image watermarking system. The implemented watermarking system operates in the spectrum domain where a subset of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) coefficients is modified by the watermark without using original image during watermark extraction. The quality of watermark is evaluated by taking Into account the trade-off between the chip-rate and the rate of LDPC codes. Many simulation results are presented in this paper, these results indicate that the quality of the watermark is improved greatly and the proposed system based on LDPC codes is very robust to attacks.

유기금속기상증착법에 의한 InGaN/GaN 양자점 구조의 성장거동 (Growth Behavior of InGaN/GaN Quantum Dots Structure Via Metal-organic Chemical Vapor Deposition)

  • Growth behavior of InGaN/GaN self-assembled quantum dots (QDs) was investigated with respect to different growth parameters in low pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. Locally formed examples of three dimensional InGaN islands were confirmed from the surface observation image with increasing indium source ratio and growth time. The InGaN/GaN QDs were formed in Stranski-Krastanow (SK) growth mode by the continuous supply of metalorganic (MO) sources, whereas they were formed in the Volmer-Weber (V-W) growth mode by the periodic interruption of the MO sources. High density InGaN QDs with $1{\sim}2nm$ height and $40{\sim}50nm$ diameter were formed by the S-K growth mode. Dome shape InGaN dots with $200{\sim}400nm$ diameter were formed by the V-W growth mode. InN content in InGaN QDs was estimated to be reduced with the increase of growth temperature. A strong peak between 420-460 nm (2.96-2.70 eV) was observed for the InGaN QDs grown by S-K growth mode in photoluminescence spectrum together with the GaN buffer layer peak at 362.2 nm (3.41 eV).

녹차 추출액 염색 견포의 천연 매염제 처리 효과(I)-천연 매염제 분석 및 색상 변화를 중심으로- (The Effect of Natural Mordants on the Silk Fabrics Dyed with Green Tea Extracts(I) - Analysis of Natural Mordants and the Effect on Color Changes -)

  • This study investigated the mordanting effect of natural mordants such as camellia ash, bean chaff ash and pyrolignite of iron(Iron(II) Acetate) on silk fabrics dyed with green tea extracts. Experimental variables include the conditions of extraction and dyeing, and types of natural mordants. Inorganic ion contents In natural mordants were analysed by Induced Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometer. In the ash Al, Fe, Si and Mn were in % unit, Cr and Ni were detected in ppm unit, and in the aqueous extracts of the ash all the metal ions were in ppm unit. On the other hand, fairly high content of Al(2.13% ) in camellia ash extract and Fe(7.91% ) in the aqueous extracts of pyrolignite iron were detected. The absorbance intensity of green tea extracts in UV-Visible spectrum increased with the temperature and time of extraction. The maximum absorption wavelength of the extracts appeared at 272.5nm and 210.5nm. The US values of silk fabrics dyed with green tea extracts were increased with temperature and time of dyeing. Surface color of silk fabric dyed with green tea extracts was 9.1YR, but it was changed from 7.9YR to 7.5YR by camellia ash extract and 7.4YR to 6.4YR by bean chaff ash extract with increase in mordant concentration. Pre-mordanted and post-mordanted fabrics with pyrolignite of iron were changed from 1.4YR to 1.1R and 7.2P to 4.2P, respectively.
