Data Pre-Caching Mechanism in NDN-based Drone Networks (NDN 기반 드론 네트워크의 데이터 사전 캐싱 기법)

  • Networking services based on the flying drones may cause many handover events because the coverage radius is narrower than that of the existing infrastructure, such as cellular networks. Therefore, it copes with frequent handover by pre-caching data to target network provider before handover using a content store. As a result of the simulation, it can be confirmed that the delay is lowered. This is because the data that was requested before the handover is delivered to the target drones, and the car that has completed the handover receives the data through the target drones. On the other hand, if the proposed method is not used, it can be confirmed that the delay is increased. This is because it can not cope with the path change due to the handover and re-sends the packet requesting the data.

A Cache Manager for Enhancing the Performance of Query Evaluation in Data Warehousing Environment (데이타웨어하우스 환경에서의 질의 처리 성능 향상을 위한 캐시 관리자)

  • Data warehouses are usually dedicated to the processing of quires issued by decision support system(DSS). The response time of DSS queries is typically several orders of magnitude higher than the one of OLTP queries. Since DSS queries are often submitted interactively, techniques for reducing their response time are important. The caching of query results is one such technique particularly well suited to the DSS environment. In this paper, we present a cache manager for such an environment. Specifically, we define a canonical form of query. The cache manager looks up a query based on the exact query match or using a suggested query split process if the query is found is non-canonical form or in canonical form, respectively. It dynamically maintains the cache content by employing a profit function which reflects in an integrated manner the query execution cost, the size of query result, the reference rate, the maintenance cost of each result due to updates of their base tables, and the frequency of such updates. We performed the experimental evaluation and it positively shows the performance benefit of our cache manager.

  • The requirements for powerful computing capability, high capacity, low latency and low energy consumption of emerging services, pose severe challenges to the fifth-generation (5G) network. As a promising paradigm, mobile edge networks can provide services in proximity to users by deploying computing components and cache at the edge, which can effectively decrease service delay. However, the coexistence of heterogeneous services and the sharing of limited resources lead to the competition between various services for multiple resources. This paper considers two typical heterogeneous services: computing services and content delivery services, in order to properly configure resources, it is crucial to develop an effective offloading and caching strategies. Considering the high energy consumption of 5G base stations, this paper considers the hybrid energy supply model of traditional power grid and green energy. Therefore, it is necessary to design a reasonable association mechanism which can allocate more service load to base stations rich in green energy to improve the utilization of green energy. This paper formed the joint optimization problem of computing offloading, caching and resource allocation for heterogeneous services with the objective of minimizing the on-grid power consumption under the constraints of limited resources and QoS guarantee. Since the joint optimization problem is a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem that is impossible to solve, this paper uses deep reinforcement learning method to learn the optimal strategy through a lot of training. Extensive simulation experiments show that compared with other schemes, the proposed scheme can allocate resources to heterogeneous service according to the green energy distribution which can effectively reduce the traditional energy consumption.

Social-relation Aware Routing Protocol in Mobile Ad hoc Networks (이동 애드 혹 네트워크를 위한 사회적 관계 인식 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we consider mobile ad hoc network routing protocols with respect to content sharing applications. We show that by utilizing social relations among participants, our routing protocols can improve its performance and efficiency of caching. Moreover, in certain situation which we can anticipate pattern of user's content consumption, our scheme can help such applications be more efficient in terms of access time and network overhead. Using NS2 simulator, we compare our scheme to DSDV and routing protocol using shortest path algorithm.

  • Generally, as for the multimedia high quality contents, an illegality facsimile is possible without a damage of a quality. Also a distribution of contents duplicated illegality in an Internet is giving a great economic loss to digital contents provider. Therefore, a study for security and efficient distribution of digital contents is required. The most important issues in a design of digital contents distribution system are a user convenience, an execution speed and a security. In this study, we designed digital contents distribution system that used a web caching technology and an encryption/decryption technique on hierarchical structure. The proposed system was the digital contents distribution system that improved a security and execution speed, a convenience of a user. Also it verified performance superiority of a proposed system by an examination.

Overview of Motion-to-Photon Latency Reduction for Mitigating VR Sickness

  • For several years, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies have been improving. However, some hurdles remain that slow down the distribution of VR and AR devices, such as head-mounted display (HMD), and related consumer content. One issue is VR motion sickness, which has been experienced by users using 360 degree VR content via HMD. This paper discusses the related international standardization work that classifies the factors causing VR sickness, and proposes the process for VR sickness level evaluation. Among the factors causing VR sickness, many research institutes regard minimizing MTP (Motion-to-Photon) latency as the key enabler to mitigate VR sickness. Thus, this paper introduces research trends of MTP latency measurement and MTP latency mitigation. This paper categorizes the research on MTP latency measurement into 2 categories of hardware-based approach and software code-level approach. The 2 approaches have different pros and cons depending on use-case, purpose, and architecture of each multimedia system. The pros and cons are addressed in this paper. Additionally, the research on mitigating MTP latency with diverse strategies such as proactive computing, caching, and edge server technology is explained, and compared to conventional technologies, shows improved performance.

  • 인터넷 이용자의 증가와 멀티미디어 등 대용량 콘텐츠에 대한 수요의 증가로 인해 데이터 트래픽은 기하 급수적으로 늘어나는 데 비해 네트웍 성능향상에 대한 투자는 이에 미치지 못함으로서 결과적으로 인터넷은 트래픽의 병목현상, 즉 정체현상이 발생하게 되었으며 점차 그 정도가 심해지고 있다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 제안하는 방안이 바로 전략적 CDN(Content Delivery Network) 이다. 현실적으로, 본 연구는 물리적인 망 증설만으로는 트래픽 체증 문제를 해결하기는 어려우므로 주요 ISP 네트웍에 전략적 캐시서버를 설치하여 CP의 콘텐츠를 각 ISP 네트웍마다 분산하여 저장하고 이용자의 요청 시 이용자의 인터넷 회선이 물려 있는 ISP 네트웍에서 바로 콘텐츠를 전송하여 데이터 손실과 속도 저하 등의 문제를 해결하는 CDN의 구성과 그 효과를 실증적으로 밝혔다.

An Empirical Study on the Construction Strategy of Web-caching Network (효과적인 웹-캐싱 네트웍 구축전략에 관한 실증 연구)

  • Despite the growth in Internet users, demand for multi-medial, large data files and resulting explosive growth in data traffic, there has been lack of investment in Middle-Mile, interconnection of various networks, resulting in bottleneck effect, which is acerbating. One strategy to overcome such network bottleneck is Content Delivery Network (CDN). CDN does not achieve efficient delivery of large file data through physical improvement/increase in network capacity, but by delivering large file contents, the cause of bottlenecks, from distributed servers. Since it is impracticable to physically improve networks capacity to accommodate the growth in internet traffic, CON, by strong CPs contents at cache servers deployed at major ISPs networks, is able to deliver requested contents to the requesting Web clients without the loss of data and long latency.

Relighting 3D Scenes with a Continuously Moving Camera

  • This paper proposes a novel technique for 3D scene relighting with interactive viewpoint changes. The proposed technique is based on a deep framebuffer framework for fast relighting computation which adopts image-based techniques to provide arbitrary view-changing. In the preprocessing stage, the shading parameters required for the surface shaders, such as surface color, normal, depth, ambient/diffuse/specular coefficients, and roughness, are cached into multiple deep framebuffers generated by several caching cameras which are created in an automatic manner. When the user designs the lighting setup, the relighting renderer builds a map to connect a screen pixel for the current rendering camera to the corresponding deep framebuffer pixel and then computes illumination at each pixel with the cache values taken from the deep framebuffers. All the relighting computations except the deep framebuffer pre-computation are carried out at interactive rates by the GPU.

  • 최근 콘텐츠 전송 네트워크(content delivery network, CDN)와 클라우드 컴퓨팅(cloud computing)을 결합하여 효과적으로 콘텐츠를 전달하기 위한 방법이 대두되고 있으며 이와 같이 클라우드 컴퓨팅과 결합하여 서비스되는 CDN을 클라우드 CDN 이라고 칭한다. 본 논문에서는 클라우드 CDN 환경에서의 효과적인 가상 머신 (virtual machine, VM) 관리를 위한 캐시서버(caching server)로써의 VM의 네트워크 I/O 성능 분석을 다룬다. 해당 성능 분석은 엔드 유저(end-user)들과 캐시서버 간 동영상 스트리밍(streaming)을 통하여 이루어졌으며 해당 캐시 서버의 네트워크 I/O 성능에 영향을 주는 다양한 경우에 대하여 진행되었다. 본 논문에서의 성능 분석은 클라우드 CDN 환경에서의 데이터센터(datacenter) 선택 및 요청 라우팅(routing) 등에 적용될 수 있다.
