Effects of the amount of nickel powder (Ni) in Ni-carbon fiber (CF) hybrid filler systems on the conductivity(or resistivity) and thermal coefficient of resistance (TCR) of filled high density polyethylene were studied. Increases of the resistivity and TCR with increasing Ni concentration at a given hybrid filler content were observed. Using the fiber contact model, we showed that the main role of Ni in the hybrid filler system is to decrease the interfiber contact resistance when Ni concentration is less than the threshold point. The formation of structural defects leading to reduced reinforcing effect resulted in both a reduction of strength and an increase of the coefficient of thermal expansion in the composite film; these changes are responsible for the increases of both resistivity and TCR with increasing Ni concentration in the hybrid filler system.

A universal four-point contact measurement method, has an advantage of non-existence of contact resistance, is demonstrated by the experiments with carbon nanotubes and ZnO nanowire. Ti/Au and Pt are tried to compare the influence of contact resistance between two different metals. These metals are selected to make Ohmic contact and Schottky contact originated from their different work functions. For precise experiments, Ti/Au and Pt are separately evaporated to form double 'four-point contact electrodes' on CNTs or ZnO, and the voltage-current characteristics are measured. This method can be applied to universal resistivity measurement for nanotubes and nanowires.

The contact resistances were measured using the transmission line model method. which resulted in specific contact resistivities in the $3.5{\times}10^{-3}$ and $6.2{\times}10^{-4}ohm/cm^{2}$, and the physical properties of the contacts were examined using x-ray diffraction. microscopy. Contact resistivity between silver electrodes and the emitter layer of a silicon solar cell wafer has been measured using either the circular transmission line method or the linear transmission line method. The circular transmission line method has an advantage over the linear transmission line method, in that it does not require an additional process for mesa etching to eliminate the leakage current. In contrast, the linear transmission line method has the advantage that its specimen can be acquired directly from a silicon solar cell. In this study, measured resistance data for the calculation of contact resistivity is compared for these two methods, and the mechanism by which the linear transmission line method can more realistically reflect the impact of the width and thickness of a silver electrode on contact resistivity is investigated.

We report the material and electrical properties of $CoSi_2$ and $NiSi_2$contacts to n-type 4H-SiC depending on the post-annealing and the metal covering conditions. The Ni and Co silicides are deposited by RF sputtering with Ni/Si/Ni and Co/Si/Co films separately deposited on 4H-SiC substrates. The deposited films are annealed at $800\;^{\circ}C$ in $Ar:H_2$ (9:1) gas ambient. Results of the specific surface resistivity measurements show that the resistivity of the Co-based metal contact was the one order lower than that of the Ni-based contact. The specific contact resistance was measured by a transmission line technique, and the specific contact resistivity of $1.5{\times}10^{-6}\;{\Omega}\;cm^2$ is obtained for Co/Si/Co metal structures after a two-step annealing; at $550\;^{\circ}C$ for 10 min and $800\;^{\circ}C$ for 3min. The physical properties of the contacts were examined by using XRD and AES, and the results indicate that the Co-based metal contacts have better structural stability of silicide phases formed after the high temperature annealing.

Electrical characteristics of Pt/Ti/Pt/Au and Pd/Zn/Pd/Au contacts to p-type InGaAs grown on an InP substrate have been characterized as a function of the doping concentration and the annealing temperature. The Pt/Ti/Pt/Au contacts produced the specific contact resistance as low as $2.3{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$, when heat-treated at an annealing temperature of $400^{\circ}C$. Comparison of the Pt/Ti/Pt/Au and Ti/Pt/Au contacts showed that the first Pt layer plays an important role in reducing the contact resistivity probably by lowering energy barrier at the metal-semiconductor interface. For the Pd/Zn/Pd/Au contacts, the contact resistivity remained virtually unchanged with increasing annealing temperature. The specific contact resistivity as low as $4.7{\times}10^{-6}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ was obtained. The results indicate that the Pt/Ti/Pt/Au and Pd/Zn/Pd/Au schemes could be potentially important for the fabrication of InP-based optoelectronic devices, such as photodetector and optical modulator.
Electrical resistivity of a rock-sample is dependant on not only formation factor of rock itself but also many parameters such as fluid type, measuring device, temperature, water saturation, electrical contact between electrode and core section, induced polarization, and frequency of electric source. In this study, we attempt to verify various affecting factors in core resistivity measurements and to find a better environment for core resistivity measurement. Particularly great attention has been paid to understanding the effects of temperature, water saturation, contact condition between sample and electrodes, and frequency of electric source. Precise measurement of resistivity can be achieved by utilizing silver paste for better contacts, taping samples for constant moisture contents, and using time-series resistivity data.

Characteristics of ohmic Ni/Si/Ni contacts to n-type 4H-SiC are investigated systematically. The ohmic contacts were formed by annealing Ni/Si/Ni sputtered sequentially The annealings were performed at 950℃ using RTP in vacuum ambient and N₂ ambient, respectively. The specific contact resistivity(p/sub c/), sheet resistance(R/sub s/), contact resistance (R/sub c/) transfer length(L/sub T/) were calculated from resistance(R/sub T/) versus contact spacing(d) measurements obtained from TLM(transmission line method) structure. While the resulting measurement values of sample annealed at vacuum ambient were p/sub c/ = 3.8×10/sup -5/Ω㎠, R/sub c/ = 4.9 Ω and R/sub T/ = 9.8 Ω, those of sample annealed at N₂ ambient were p/sub c/ = 2.29×10/sup -4/Ω㎠, R/sub c/ = 12.9 Ω and R/sub T/ = 25.8 Ω. The physical properties of contacts were examined using XRD 3nd AES. The results showed that nickel silicide was formed on SiC and Ni was migrated into SiC. This result indicates that Ni/Si/Ni ohmic contact would be useful in high performance electronic devices.

The electrical, optical and structural properties of Ti doped $In_2O_3$ (TIO) ohmic contacts to p-type GaN were investigated using linear facing target sputtering (LFTS) system. Sheet resistance and resistivity of TIO films are decreased with increasing rapid thermal annealing (RTA) temperature. Although the $400^{\circ}C$ and $500^{\circ}C$ annealed samples showed rectifying behavior, the $600^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$ annealed samples showed linear I-V characteristics indicative of the formation of an ohmic contact between TIO and p-GaN. The annealing of the contact at $700^{\circ}C$ resulted in the lowest specific contact resistivity of $9.5{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm^2$. Based on XPS depth profiling and synchrotron X-ray scattering analysis, we suggested a possible mechanism to explain the annealing dependence of the properties of TIO layer on rapid thermal annealing temperature.
