Preparation of PVdF Composite Nanofiber Membrane by Using Manganese-Iron Oxide and Characterization of its Arsenic Removal (망간-철 산화물을 이용한 PVdF 나노섬유복합막의 제조 및 비소 제거 특성 평가)

  • This study described a synthesis of MF having a arsenic removal characteristics and the fundamental research was performed about the simultaneous removal system of both As(III) and As(V) ions with the composite nanofiber membrane (PMF) based on PVdF and MF materials for the water-treatment application. From the TEM analysis, the shape and structure of MF materials was investigated. The mechanical strength, pore-size, contact angle and water-flux analysis for the PMF was performed to investigate the possibility of utilizing as a water treatment membrane. From these results, the PMF11 showed the highest value of mechanical strength ($232.7kgf/cm^2$) and the pore-diameter of composite membrane was reduced by introducing the MF materials. In particular, their pore diameter decreased with an increase of iron oxide composition ratio. The water flux value of PMF was improved about 10 to 60% compared with that of neat PVdF nanofiber membranes. From the arsenic removal characterization of prepared MF materials and PMF, it was shown the simultaneous removal characteristics of both As(III) and (V) ions, and the MF01, in particular, showed the highest adsorption-removal rate of 93% As(III) and 68% As(V), respectively. From these results, prepared MF materials and PMF have shown a great potential to be utilized for the fundamental study to improve the functionality of water treatment membrane.

A Study on the Characteristics of Bonsai Industry in Korea, China and Japan (한·중·일 분재산업의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • For this purpose, research was made to look into the style, material, organization, and legal as well as institutional system of the bonsai industry in the three countries. In order to understand what significance it has and how it has changed historically, related literature was surveyed and questionnaires were distributed to the concerned people to collect the data needed for them to plan bonsai industry. The results of the survey are as follows. Analysis of awareness of bonsai culture, respondents replied that the motive and purpose of bonsai is because they like flower trees, and the technical information about bonsai is usually obtained by visits to bonsai gardens. The analysis revealed that respondents usually join more than one bonsai club and are active more than once a month, which means longer than 4 hours each month, and their activities are more frequently in the metropolitan area. From the analysis of preference for bonsai culture, it was made known that the favorite bonsai size is less than middle one(20~50cm), the characteristics of the favorite species are beauty. A research and analysis of bonsai-related technical education found that bonsai is trimmed manually in general, bonsai experts are usually kept in contact with, and the bonsai technique is learned through interaction with the experts.

  • Recently, concerns relating to the maintenance of large structures have been increased. In addition, the number of large structures that need to be evaluated for their structural safety due to natural disasters and structural deterioration has been rapidly increasing. It is common for the structural characteristics of an older large structure to differ from the characteristics in the initial design stage, and changes in dynamic characteristics may result from a reduction in stiffness due to cracks on the materials. The process of deterioration of such structures enables the detection of damaged locations, as well as a quantitative evaluation. One of the typical measuring instruments used for the monitoring of bridges and buildings is the dynamic measurement system. Conventional dynamic measurement systems require considerable cabling to facilitate a direct connection between sensor and DAQ logger. For this reason, a method of measuring structural responses from a remote distance without the mounted sensors is needed. In terms of non-contact methods that are applicable to dynamic response measurement, the methods using the doppler effect of a laser or a GPS are commonly used. However, such methods could not be generally applied to bridge structures because of their costs and inaccuracies. Alternatively, a method using a visual image can be economical as well as feasible for measuring vibration signals of inaccessible bridge structures and extracting their dynamic characteristics. Many studies have been conducted using camera visual signals instead of conventional mounted sensors. However, these studies have been focused on measuring displacement response by an image processing technique after recording a position of the target mounted on the structure, in which the number of measurement targets may be limited. Therefore, in this study, a model experiment was carried out to verify the measurement algorithm for measuring multi-point displacement responses by using a DIC (Digital Image Correlation) technique.

A Study on Strategic Groups of Program Providers(PP) and the Performance in Korea (국내 방송채널사용사업자(PP)의 전략집단과 성과에 관한 연구)

  • The concept of strategic group is defined as an aggregate of corporations utilizing similar strategies with similar resources. It becomes a kinds of contact point in the middle of corporation and industry between the industrial organization theory and the strategic management theory. This study tried to apply the strategic group model, which has been a main theory in the management studies, to program providing industry in Korea. This study shed lights upon research problems such as number of strategic groups, differences of strategic variables among the groups, finally differential performances according to strategic groups. 40 commercial broadcasting companies were analyzed to find answers. 9 strategic groups were drawn as a result of cluster analysis. Major variables which contribute to making groups were operating efficiency(4.05), pricing(3.83), size(number of system operator, 3.56), reliance on license revenue(2.58), horizontal integration(number of sister networks, 2.16) in order. An analysis of variance between performance variables has shown statistical significance regarding total net revenue per subscriber, however, insignificances statistically in regards to ratio of operating profit to net sales, cash Abstracts 687 flow ratio. Some studies in the past insisted that history variable played an important role to classifying strategic groups. However, this study found that the history didn't exert significant influence on either the group classification itself or performance.

Properties of Pt/${Al_0.33}{Ga_0.67}N$ Schottky Type UV Photo-detector (Pt 전극을 이용한 ${Al_0.33}{Ga_0.67}N$ 쇼트키형 자외선 수광소자의 동작특성)

  • Schottky type A $l_{0.33}$G $a_{0.67}$N ultraviolet photodetectors were fabricated on the MOCVD grown AlGaN/ $n^{+}$-GaN and AlGaN/AlGaN interlayer/ $n^{+}$-GaN structures. The grown layers have the carrier concentrations of -$10^{18}$, and the mobilities were 236 and 269 $\textrm{cm}^2$/V.s, respectively. After mesa etching by ICP etching system, the Si3N4 layer was deposited for passivation between the contacts and Ti/AL/Ni/Au and Pt were deposited for ohmic and Schottky contact, respectively. The fabricated Pt/A $l_{0.33}$G $a_{0.67}$N Schottky diode revealed a leakage current of 1 nA for samples with interlayer and 0.1$\mu\textrm{A}$ for samples without interlayer at a reverse bias of -5 V. In optical measurement, the Pt/A $l_{0.33}$G $a_{0.67}$N diode with interlayer showed a cut-off wavelength of 300 nm, a prominent responsivity of 0.15 A/W at 280 nm and a UV-visible extinction ratio of 1.5x$10^4./TEX>.

The characteristics of chloramine formation and decay with pH variation (pH 변화에 따른 클로라민 생성과 분해 특성)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of chloramination as a secondary disinfection in a drinking water distribution system. At the range from pH 6 to pH 8, monochloramine was predominant with a trace of dichloramine, and the free chlorine was detected after breakpoint. At $25^{\circ}C$, the breakpoints of pH 6, 7 and 8 appeared when the weight ratios of chlorine to ammonia nitrogen were 11:1, 9:1 and 10:1 respectively, and the peak points on the breakpoint curves at pH 6, 7 and 8 were in the Cl$_2$ / NH$_3$-N ratio of 9:1, 6:1 and 5:1 respectively. As pH increased from 6 to 8, maximum point of monochloramine on the breakpoint curve was moved from 7:1 to 5:1 in the weight ratio of chlorine to ammonia nitrogen. The maximum concentration of monochloramine was formed at the pH values of 7~8 and in the Cl$_2$ / NH$_3$-N ratio below 5:1. As the Cl$_2$/NH$_3$-N ratio increased and the pH lowered, chloramines decay proceeded at an increased rate, and residual chloramines lasted longer than the residual free chlorine. The monochloramine and the dichloramine were formed at pH 6, and then the dichloramine continued increasing with contact time.

Stress of the Pediatric Patient′s Parent in the Emergency Department (응급의료센터에 내원한 환아부모의 스트레스)

  • This study was performed to identify the level of stress recognized by the parents as a support system for their infant patients who were hospitalized in an emergency department, thus to provide the resulting data as the basic material of care intervention for the families of infant patients. This study subjected the parents with infant patients who were hospitalized in emergency department of C University Hospital in Daejeon, and the data was collected from questionnaires for them, dating from Mar. 20, to Jun. 24, 2001 This study used the tool(30 questions) which was originally developed by Ji, Dong-ok (1992) for measuring the stress of families of infant patients in emergency room, and then was modified and complemented by this researcher suitably for infant patients. Collected data was statistically analyzed with frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, by using SPSS WIN10.0 program, and the results were as follows: 1. The stress of parents with infant patients hospitalized in emergency department averaged 3.31 on the basis of 5-point measure, which means that they felt stress beyond means. 2. The factor with high average out of stress factors the parents of infant patients recognized included the followings: 'about the pain of infant patients due to examination(3.91±1.00)'; 'about rare opportunity to be in contact with physician(3.78±1.09)'; 'delay in emergent treatment required for infant patients(3.75±1.31)'; 'delay in the general treatment of infant patients(3.72±1.32)'. Factors of the stress level includes the followings: 'care and medical treatment'(3.46±.72); 'body and diseases'(3.41±.97)'; 'lack of information and supportable resources (3.25±.77)'; and so on. 3. For the stress level according to general characteristics, there were statistically significant differences in the result of the condition of infant patients, medical treatment(P<.01), religion, the procedure of treatment(P<.05). With little preceding studies for infant patients hospitalized in emergency department, this study looked through the level of stress recognized by the parents of infant patients. Based on the comprehension on the parents with infant patients and the knowledge on stress factors recognized by the parents, it is expected that we can seek the methods of care intervention such as explanation of care and treatment procedures, unit policies, continuous interest and emotional supports as well as the provision of information to understand the responses of parents and reduce accompanied stresses.

Marginal and Internal Fit of Copings Made by CAD/CAM using Different Scanning Methods (서로 다른 스캔 방식을 이용하여 CAD/CAM에 의해 제작된 코핑의 변연 및 내면의 적합성)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the marginal and internal fit of coping made by CAD/CAM using different scanning methods. Zirconia coping was made by each CAD/CAM system followed by intra-oral scanning, model optical scanning and model contact scanning. It was embedded into Epoxy Resin and was cut by buccal to lingual. AMD (Absolute marginal discrepancy), MG (Marginal gap), GA (Gap of axial), GL (Gap of line angle) and GO (Gap of occlusal) of each sample were measured. The result is as followed; 1. The mean value of AMD in Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 are $141.21{\pm}42.94{\mu}m$, $140.63{\pm}31.64{\mu}m$, $109.37{\pm}28.42{\mu}m$. The averages of MG in Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 are $82.52{\pm}43.99{\mu}m$, $90.28{\pm}27.93{\mu}m$, $66.55{\pm}28.77{\mu}m$. Statistically there is no difference in AMD and MG among the three Groups (Anova, P>0.05). 2. GA of Group 2 revealed statistically difference compared with Group 1 and Group 3 (Anova, P<0.05). 3. GL and GO of Group 1 showed statistically significant differences compared with Group 2 and Group 3 (Mann-whitney test (P<0.05). Zirconia copings made by 3 ways of scanning methods have no difference with conventional ceramics in AMD and MG which are known as the most important factors.

The Experimental Study on Transverse Field Joint Method of Precast Road Deck Slab of Double Deck Tunnel in Great Depth (대심도 복층터널 프리캐스트 중간슬래브의 횡방향 현장이음방식에 대한 실험연구)

  • The joints between precast PSC slabs of the intermediate road slab in double deck tunnel are inevitably generated in the road traffic vehicle traveling direction. Therefore, it is important to make the behavior of parts on the joint in one piece. The imtermediate road slab system of double deck tunnel in great depth proposed in this study will be constructed with precast PSC slab in order to minimize the construction period. And the joint connection between the precast slab has been developed in two methods: the 'Transverse tendon reinforcement method' and 'High strength bolts connection method'. Also, the experiments were performed for the full scale model in order to evaluate the performance of the intermediate road deck slab with two type joints systems, the structural stability was verified through the F.E.M analsysis. The results of static loading test and F.E.M analysis investigated a very stable behavior of intermediate road deck slab in double deck tunnel applying the joint methods developed in this study, in the cracks and deflections to satisfy the design standards of Highway Roads Bridges (2011), it was determined that there is no problem even servicebility.

A Model on a Bubbling Fluidized Bed Process for CO2 Capture from Flue Gas (연소기체로부터 CO2를 포집하는 기포 유동층 공정에 관한 모델)

  • This study developed a simple model to investigate effects of important operating parameters on performance of a bubbling-bed adsorber and regenerator system collecting $CO_2$ from flue gas. The chemical reaction rate was used with mean particles residence time of a reactor to determine the extent of conversion in both adsorber and regenerator reactors. Effects of process parameters - temperature, gas velocity, solid circulation rate, moisture content of feed gas - on $CO_2$ capture efficiency were investigated in a laboratory scale process. The $CO_2$ capture efficiency decreased with increasing temperature or gas velocity of the adsorber. However, it increased with increasing the moisture content of the flue gas or the regenerator temperature. The calculated $CO_2$ capture efficiency agreed to the measured value reasonably well. However the present model did not agree well to the effect of the solid circulation rate on $CO_2$ capture efficiency. Better understanding on contact efficiency between gas and particles was needed to interpret the effect properly.
