초절전형 PLC 2구 스위치 개발 (Ultra-Power-Saving 2 Ports PLC Wall Switch Development)

  • PLC 홈 네트워크용으로 보급되고 있는 스위치, 콘센트, 가스제어기 등의 단말기들은 일반적으로 부하가 연결되지 않은 상태에도 원격제어 또는 기기 간의 제어, 상태 감시 등을 위하여 항상 Wake-up 상태를 유지하고 있어야 한다. 이로 인하여 대기 시 불필요한 전력을 소비하는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 대기 시 소비 전력 및 동작 시 소비 전력을 최소화한 절전형 PLC 2구 스위치를 개발하였다. 대기 시 소비전력 최소화를 위해 Sleep Mode 전환 및 전력선 통신부와 제어부의 분리 등 회로를 개선을 하였으며 동작 시 소비전력 최소화를 위해 유지 제어방식에서 순간 제어방식으로 전환하였으며, 이로부터 스위치 수명 연장 및 고장률을 최소할 수 있었다. 기존 스위치에 비해 대기 시 약 0.95[W] 절감, 동작 시 약 3.2[W] 절감으로 에너지 절감을 실현하였다.

Cancer Detection Rates in a Population-Based, Opportunistic Screening Model, New Delhi, India

  • Background: In India, cancer accounts for 7.3% of DALY's, 14.3% of mortality with an age-standardized incident rate of 92.4/100,000 in men and 97.4/100,000 in women and yet there are no nationwide screening programs. Materials and Methods: We calculated age-standardized and age-truncated (30-69 years) detection rates for men and women who attended the Indian Cancer Society detection centre, New Delhi from 2011-12. All participants were registered with socio-demographic, medical, family and risk factors history questionnaires, administered clinical examinations to screen for breast, oral, gynecological and other cancers through a comprehensive physical examination and complete blood count. Patients with an abnormal clinical exam or blood result were referred to collaborating institutes for further investigations and follow-up. Results: A total of n=3503 were screened during 2011-12 (47.8% men, 51.6% women and 0.6% children <15 years) with a mean age of 47.8 yrs (${\pm}15.1yrs$); 80.5% were aged 30-69 years and 77.1% had at least a secondary education. Tobacco use was reported by 15.8%, alcohol consumption by 11.9% and family history of cancer by 9.9% of participants. Follow-up of suspicious cases yielded 45 incident cancers (51.1% in men, 48.9% in women), consisting of 55.5% head and neck (72.0% oral), 28.9% breast, 6.7% gynecological and 8.9% other cancer sites. The age-standardized detection rate for all cancer sites was 340.8/100,000 men and 329.8/100,000 women. Conclusions: Cancer screening centres are an effective means of attracting high-risk persons in low-resource settings. Opportunistic screening is one feasible pathway to address the rising cancer burden in urban India through early detection.

  • 지속적인 수산물의 소비량 증가에 따라 어족자원의 한계성에 직면한 어로어업대신 기르는 방식의 양식업이 대응방안으로 등장하였으며, 최근에는 4차 산업혁명기술과 융복합을 통하여 스마트양식 산업이 빠르게 발전하고 있다. 이에 따라 전 세계를 대상으로 양식산업의 우위성과 기술표준 헤게모니를 확보하기 위하여 스마트양식 플랫폼의 미래 모형 도출이 매우 중요한 시기가 되었다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 스마트양식 전문가들의 인터뷰를 통해 스마트양식산업의 중점 사항들을 도출하고 거시환경분석 중 PEST 방법론을 적용, 스마트양식과 관련된 정치, 경제, 사회, 기술 분야의 환경분석을 통하여 스마트양식 플랫폼의 미래 방향성을 도출하였다. 과거 생물 생장 관리의 자동화에 국한되었던 단순한 스마트양식 플랫폼에서 육종, 생산, 경영, 유통의 양식 가치사슬 전 과정을 포함하고, 인공지능 기반의 디지털 트윈기술을 통하여 리스크 최소화 및 상황 최적화 스마트양식 플랫폼으로 발전 할 수 있도록 선진 모델을 제시함으로써 공공 및 산업계에서 관련 사업 기획 및 추진 시에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

저궤도 위성의 에너지 균형 분석을 위한 전력 시뮬레이터의 구현 (Implementation of a Power Simulator for Energy Balance Analysis of a LEO Satellite)

  • 지구 저궤도 위성의 임무 운용 시 전력 시스템을 안전하고 운용하고 에너지 균형을 만족하는 임무를 설계하기 위해 계획된 임무에 대한 전력 파라미터를 예측해야 한다. 이 논문에서는 다양한 미션 프로파일에 대해 위성의 생성 전력, 소모 전력, 배터리 방전 정도(Depth of Discharge, 이하 DoD), 버스 전압, 충/방전 전류 등을 예측함으로써 미션의 유효성 및 에너지 균형을 검증하기 위한 전력 시뮬레이터를 제안한다. 제안된 전력 시뮬레이터에는 인공위성의 생성 전력을 모사하기 위해 태양전지판(Solar Array, 이하 SA)의 모델, SAR (Solar Array Regulator)의 3가지 동작 모드를 구현하였다. 또한 소모 전력을 모사하기 위해 버스 및 탑재체의 각 유닛 별 소모 전력, Unit on/off configuration, 탑재체 운용 모드 등을 고려하였다. 버스 전압 및 충/방전 전류를 예측하기 위해 배터리 및 주변 회로를 모델링하고 임의의 DoD, 충방전 전류에 대해 배터리 전압 및 버스 전압을 예측한다. 구현된 전력 시뮬레이터를 이용해 에너지 균형을 분석하고 임무 계획의 적합성을 쉽게 판단할 수 있다.

한약재 사용량 데이터 분석을 통한 한국, 중국, 일본 전통의학의 이론적 특성 비교연구 (Identifying Theoretical Characteristics of Traditional Medicines in Korea, China, and Japan through the Herb Usage Data)

  • Traditional medicines (TM) in Korea, China, and Japan share most of the theories and therapeutic tools, but there are also differences due to their unique histories and cultures. Here, we aim to identify the differences in the utilization of TM theory between three countries by analyzing herb usage data in terms of the related traditional theories. Herb usage data of each country was collected from "Investigation of Korean medicine use and herbal medicine consumption survey" (Korea), "Analytical report on circulation of key Chinese medicinal materials" (China), and "Survey report on raw material crude drug usage" (Japan). Fifty five herbs with sixty features belonging to five theoretical categories (four properties, five tastes, targeting meridians, treatment strategies, and herbal parts) were selected and analyzed. Weight Sum Model (WSM) and Network-Based Group Features (NBGF) were used to compare the theoretical characteristics of TM between three countries. For the statistical evaluation, we developed and applied Herb Set Enrichment Analysis (HSEA) for WSM and NBGF results. HSEA for WSM results revealed the kidney meridian were targeted more in Korea than Japan, while the spleen meridian were targeted more in Japan than Korea. Herbs with sour taste were used more in Japan than China. HSEA for NBGF results found that NBGF including warm, neutral, sweet, and tonifying features were more dominant in Korea and than Japan, while NBGF including cold, bitter, heat-clearing features were more dominant in Japan than the others. These results suggest that TM in Korea, China, and Japan have unique aspects of practice patterns and theoretical utilization.

Aeration Effect on Degradation of Veterinary Antibiotics in Swine Slurry

  • A portion of the veterinary antibiotics administrated to livestock are generally excreted via feces and urine. Tetracyclines and tylosin have a greater priority of environmental risk in Korea based on the consumption and the potential to reach soil and water environment. The antibiotics in animal byproducts need to be reduced or eliminated before they are applied to agricultural lands through composting or other agricultural practices. The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of aeration on degradation of antibiotics during storage of swine slurry. Two antibiotics, tetracycline (TC) and tylosin (TYL), were detected from the swine slurry used in the study. One hour aeration per day for 62 days reduced TC concentration from 199 to $43ng\;L^{-1}$ compared with $104ng\;L^{-1}$ without aeration. Aeration for three and six hours decreased TC level to 30 and $23ng\;L^{-1}$, respectively. The dissipation of TC was fitted with a first-order kinetic model. Aeration for 1, 3, and 6 hours every day increased the first-order rate constant, k, from $0.011day^{-1}$ under anaerobic condition to 0.022, 0.026, and $0.037day^{-1}$, respectively. For TYL, aeration during storage of swine slurry enhanced k from $0.0074day^{-1}$ to 0.014, 0.018, and $0.031day^{-1}$ for 1, 3, and 6 hours per day, respectively. For liquid swine slurry, biotic processes can be more effective for dissipation of antibiotics than abiotic processes because of low organic matter and high water content. These results suggest that aeration can increase the degradation rate of antibiotics during storage of swine slurry.

Adaptive Cross-Layer Resource Optimization in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks with Multi-Homing User Equipments

  • In this paper, we investigate the resource allocation problem in time-varying heterogeneous wireless networks (HetNet) with multi-homing user equipments (UE). The stochastic optimization model is employed to maximize the network utility, which is defined as the difference between the HetNet's throughput and the total energy consumption cost. In harmony with the hierarchical architecture of HetNet, the problem of stochastic optimization of resource allocation is decomposed into two subproblems by the Lyapunov optimization theory, associated with the flow control in transport layer and the power allocation in physical (PHY) layer, respectively. For avoiding the signaling overhead, outdated dynamic information, and scalability issues, the distributed resource allocation method is developed for solving the two subproblems based on the primal-dual decomposition theory. After that, the adaptive resource allocation algorithm is developed to accommodate the timevarying wireless network only according to the current network state information, i.e. the queue state information (QSI) at radio access networks (RAN) and the channel state information (CSI) of RANs-UE links. The tradeoff between network utility and delay is derived, where the increase of delay is approximately linear in V and the increase of network utility is at the speed of 1/V with a control parameter V. Extensive simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of our proposed scheme.

Sustaining Low-Carbon Emission Development: An Energy Efficient Transportation Plan for CPEC

  • Climate change has become a major challenge for sustainable development of human society. This study is an attempt to analyze existing literature to identify economic indicators that hamper the process of global warming. This paper includes case studies based on various countries to examine the nexus for environment and its relationship with Foreign Direct Investment, transportation, economic growth and energy consumption. Furthermore, the observations are analyzed from the perspective of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and probable impact on carbon emission of Pakistan. A major portion of CPEC investment is allocated for transportation. However, it is evident that transportation sector is substantial emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. Unfortunately, there is no empirical work on the subject of CPEC and carbon emission for vehicular transportation. This paper infers that empirical results from various other countries are ambiguous and inconclusive. Moreover, the evidence for the pollution haven hypothesis and the halo effect hypothesis is limited in general and inapplicable for CPEC in particular. The major contribution of this study is the proposal of an energy efficient transportation model for reducing CO2 emission. In the end, the paper suggests strategies to climate researchers and policymakers for adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gases (GHG).

  • Hybrid powertrain systems have been developed to improve the fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines. In the case of a parallel hybrid powertrain system, an engine and a motor are directly coupled. Because of the hardware configuration of the parallel hybrid system, friction and the pumping losses of internal combustion engines always exists. Such losses are the primary factors that result in the deterioration of fuel efficiency in the parallel-type hybrid powertrain system. In particular, the engine operates as a power consumption device during the fuel-cut condition. In order to improve the fuel efficiency for the parallel-type hybrid system, cylinder deactivation (CDA) technology was developed. Cylinder deactivation technology can improve fuel efficiency by reducing pumping losses during the fuel-cut driving condition. In a CDA engine, there are two operating modes: a CDA mode and an SI mode according to the vehicle operating condition. However, during the mode change from CDA to SI, a serious fluctuation of the air-fuel ratio can occur without adequate control. In this study, an air-fuel ratio control algorithm during the mode transition from CDA to SI was proposed. The control algorithm was developed based on the mean value CDA engine model. Finally, the performance of the control algorithm was validated by various engine experiments.

대형칼로리미터를 이용한 차량 화재 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the vehicle fire property using the large scale calorimeter)

  • 터널 화재와 관련된 축소모형실험연구는 기본적인 데이터는 제공할 수 있지만, 축소모형과 실물화재간의 정확한 이론적 상사관계가 정립되어 있지 않기 때문에 실물화재에 대한 직접적인 분석을 하기에는 어려움이 따른다. 이에 산소소모율법을 적용하여 열방출율과 같은 물리량의 측정이 가능한 실물화재실험장치인 대형칼로리미터를 개발하였다. 이를 이용하여 차량의 화재시 열방출율을 측정하기 위한 실물실험을 실시하였으며, 그 결과 차량의 열방출율은 $2.3{\sim}3.4\;MW$로 측정되었다. 이는 PIARC에서 권고하는 차량의 열방출율과 유사한 범위로서 개발된 실물화재평가장치의 신뢰성을 확인할 수 있음은 물론이고 향후 관련 연구에 매우 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것이다.
