국내 먹는샘물 원수 중 바륨(Ba)의 수질 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Water Quality Characteristics of Barium in the Raw Water of Domestic Natural Mineral Water)

  • The subject samples include 150 and 170 samples collected from intake holes in the former and latter half of 2015, respectively. They were analyzed with ICP-MS. The average concentration of detected barium was $10.54{\mu}g/L$ ($0.23{\sim}168.22{\mu}g/L$) and $8.21{\mu}g/L$ ($0{\sim}255.65{\mu}g/L$) for the former and latter halves of 2015, respectively. The concentration distribution was the highest for the precambrian era at $19.07{\mu}g/L$ and the lowest Cenozoic era at $4.92{\mu}g/L$. The average value for sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks was $7.84{\mu}g/L$, $20.84{\mu}g/L$, and $9.47{\mu}g/L$, respectively, which indicates that it was the highest for metamorphic rocks. The study also analyzed correlations between barium and other minerals and found that magnesium recorded 0.44 and 0.71 for the former and latter half of 2015, respectively. As for barium concentration according to depth, it was relatively low in shallow groundwater (under 200 m) with its average concentration at $14.33{\mu}g/L$ and $14.71{\mu}g/L$ for the former and latter half of 2015, respectively. It was $8.53{\mu}g/L$ and $4.04{\mu}g/L$ in deep groundwater (over 200 m) for the two periods, respectively, The risk assessment results show that its average risk was HQ 0.00139 and HQ 0.00163 for the former and latter half of 2015, respectively, being considerably lower than "1", which suggests that barium poses few possibilities of consumption risk.

무선 센서 네트워크에서 통신량 감소를 위한 적응적 데이터 제한 기법 (An Adaptive Temporal Suppression for Reducing Network Traffic in Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 무선 센서 네트워크의 응용분야가 확장됨에 따라 대용량 측정 데이터의 전송에 대하여 에너지 효율성과 실시간성이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 센서 노드의 수집 데이터가 갖는 시간적 상관관계를 이용하여 센서 노드의 데이터 전송량을 감소시킴으로써, 에너지 효율성을 높이고 통신 지연을 단축시킬 수 있는 적응적 데이터 제한기법을 제안한다. 센서 노드에서는 적응적 데이터 제한기법을 이용하여 전송하는 측정값의 개수를 줄이고, 싱크 노드에서는 선형 보간법을 통하여 누락된 데이터를 복원한다. 제안하는 기법은 전송량 감소효과가 높아지더라도 데이터 품질의 큰 저하 없이 측정된 신호의 특성을 복원할 수 있다. 이 기법은 센서 데이터를 일정 구간으로 나누고, 그 구간 안에서 신호의 복잡도에 따라 싱크 노드로 전송하는 측정값의 개수를 다르게 한다. 측정 윈도우 내에서 신호의 복잡도는 기울기 변화량의 절대값이 임계치를 벗어나는 측정점의 개수를 기준으로 하였다. 제안하는 기법의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 4개의 샘플 데이터에 대하여 시뮬레이션을 통한 성능평가를 수행하였으며, 그 결과 3종의 샘플에서 6.8% 왜곡율에서 전송되는 측정값의 개수가 90%감소하는 효과를 얻었다.

Effects of Dietary Copper on Ruminal Fermentation, Nutrient Digestibility and Fibre Characteristics in Cashmere Goats

  • Thirty-six 1.5 year-old Inner Mongolian White Cashmere wether goats (body weight $28.14{\pm}1.33$ kg) were used to determine the effects of dietary copper (Cu) concentration on ruminal fermentation, nutrient digestibility and cashmere fibre characteristics. Wethers were fed a basal diet (containing 7.46 mg Cu/kg DM) that was supplemented with either 0 (control), 10, 20 or 30 mg Cu/kg DM. To ensure full consumption, animals were fed restrictedly with 0.75 kg feed (DM) in two equal allotments per day. The results indicated that: (1) supplemental 10 mg Cu/kg DM in the basal diet significantly (p<0.05) decreased ruminal fluid pH value and total VFA concentrations were significantly (p<0.05) increased on all Cu treatment groups. (2) Cu supplementation had no influence on DM intake and digestibility of DM, CP and ADF (p>0.05); however, NDF digestibility of groups supplemented with 10 and 20 mg Cu/kg DM were significantly higher than that of the control group (p<0.05). Apparent absorption and retention of copper were decreased with increasing level of supplementation. (3) 20 mg Cu/kg DM treatment significantly (p<0.05) improved cashmere growth rate, but cashmere diameter was not affected by Cu supplementation (p>0.05). In conclusion, supplementation of cashmere goats with Cu at the rate of 10 to 20 mg/kg DM in the basal diet resulted in some changed rumen fermentation and was beneficial for NDF digestibility, while supplementation of 20 mg Cu/kg DM improved cashmere growth. Collectively, the optimal supplemental Cu level for cashmere goats during the fibre growing period was 20 mg/kg DM (a total dietary Cu level of 27.46 mg/kg DM).

Effect of Chemical Composition and Dietary Enzyme Supplementation on Metabolisable Energy of Wheat Screenings

  • Three trials were conducted to determine the available energy of different wheat screening varieties collected from different locations of Khorasan in Iran. In experiment 1, chemical composition and the nitrogen corrected true metabolisable energy (TMEn) were evaluated. A precision-fed rooster assay was used, in which, each wheat screening sample was tube fed to adult roosters, and the excreta were collected for 48-h. In Exp. 2 and 3, five and two wheat screening verities-based diets with or without xylanase and phytase were fed to 16-day old battery reared chicks respectively, and total feed consumption and excreta were measured during next three days. The variable nature of wheat screening varieties led to significant differences in mean TMEn values (p<0.01). The TMEn values of samples determined with adult roosters varied by ${\pm}5.03%$ of the mean value ($3,097.65{\pm}49.32\;kcal/kg$) and ranged from 2,734.90 to 3,245.12 kcal/kg. There was a significant correlation (p<0.05) between crude fiber (CF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF) with TMEn, and the greatest correlation coefficient was observed between NDF and TMEn (r = -0.947; p<0.001). The optimal equation in terms of $R^2$ from using a single chemical analysis was obtained with NDF: TMEn = 4,152.09-27.80 NDF ($R^2$ = 0.90, p<0.0001), and the TME prediction equation was improved by the addition of the crude protein (CP) and ASH content to sequential analysis: TMEn = 3,656.97-28.65 NDF+32.54 CP+38.70 ASH ($R^2$ = 0.98, p<0.0001). The average AMEn values of 5 and 2 wheat screening varieties determined with young broiler chickens were $2,968.41{\pm}25.70\;kcal/kg$ and $2,976.38{\pm}8.34\;kcal/kg$ in Exp. 2 and Exp. 3, respectively. Addition of xylanase and phytase to wheat screenings resulted in significant (p<0.01) improvement in AMEn by 4.21 and 2.92%, respectively.

Sub-acute toxicity and effect of Hwangryunhaedok-tang on human drug-metabolizing enzymes

  • Objectives: Hwangryunhaedok-tang (HHT; Huanglianjiedu-tang, Orengedoku-to), a traditional herbal formula, is used for treating inflammation, hypertension, gastritis, liver dysfunction, cerebrovascular diseases, dermatitis and dementia. The objective of this study was to assess the sub-acute toxicity of HHT in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats, and its effect on the activities of human microsomal cytochrome P450s (CYP450s) and UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs). Methods: Male and female SD rats were orally administered HHT once daily at doses of 0, 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/kg for 4 weeks. We analyzed mortality, clinical observations, body weight, food consumption, organ weights, urinalysis, hematology, serum biochemistry, and histopathology. The activities of major human CYP450s (CYP1A2, CYP3A4, CYP2B6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, and CYP2E1) and UGTs (UGT1A1, UGT1A4, and UGT2B7) were assessed using in vitro fluorescence- and luminescence-based enzyme assays, respectively. Results: No toxicologically significant changes related to the repeated administration of HHT were observed in both male and female SD rats. The no observed adverse effect level (NOAEL) value was more than 2000 mg/kg/day for both sexes. HHT inhibited the activities of human microsomal CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP2D6, and CYP2E1, whereas it weakly inhibited the activities of CYP2B6, CYP2C9, CYP3A4, and UGT1A1. In addition, HHT negligibly inhibited the activities of human microsomal UGT1A4 and UGT2B7 with $IC_{50}$ values in excess of $1000{\mu}g/mL$. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that HHT may be safe for repeated administration up to 4 weeks. In addition, these findings provide information on the safety and effectiveness of HHT when co-administered with conventional drugs.

선택형 컨조인트 분석을 통한 건강기능식품 속성의 소비자 선호에 관한 연구: 비타민 상품을 중심으로 (Choice-based Conjoint Analysis of Consumer Preferences for Health Food Attributes Focused on Vitamin C Supplements)

  • Purpose - First, the study identifies and analyzes consumer preferences with regard to health foods and supplements. Second, it identifies and analyzes consumer preferences with regard to the properties of Vitamin C supplements. Third, in order to provide a basic data for the development of Vitamin C supplements and to measure how consumers value the properties of different Vitamin C products, a consumer survey was conducted through the choice-based conjoint model. Based on the results, the research estimates consumers' relative product-related priorities as well as price levels and willingness to pay (WTP) for different product types, and makes suggestions regarding consumer-oriented new product development and progressive directions for the successful launch of health foods and supplements. Research design, data, and methodology - This study aims to define the attributes of health foods and supplements based on several characteristics including their natural ingredients, product price, product originality, natural ingredient content, and additional functional ingredients, and makes suggestions regarding strategic market pricing and product development for health foods and supplements according to customer attitudes and characteristics. The research used choice-based conjoint analysis methodology based on the Multinomial Logic Model and collected 94 questionnaires filled out by users of Korean Vitamin C supplements. Results - Product price is the most influential factor among the five analyzed properties. When consumers buy Vitamin C products, the relative significance level of four of the examined properties is as follows: 40.9% for product price, 23.3% for product originality, 21.9% for natural ingredient content, and 13.9% for additional functional ingredients. Vitamin C content is excluded as it is not a statistically significant factor. It is interesting that supplement manufacturers and retailers consider Vitamin C content to be very important whereas consumers do not regard it as an important factor at the time of purchase. The results for the marginal willingness to pay (MWTP) for each property of Vitamin C supplements show that consumers are willing to pay an additional 11,146 Korean won for a 50% increase in the natural ingredient content. With regard to product originality, consumers are willing to pay an additional 11,301 Korean won for products manufactured in Europe than for products manufactured in China. Moreover, consumers show a greater preference for products manufactured in Korea than in Europe. However, consumers are not willing to pay more for additional Vitamin C or additional functional ingredients added to Vitamin C products. Conclusions - According to the results of consumer research on Vitamin C supplements, which represent a popular health food supplement in Korea, most Korean health food and supplement companies are not consumer- or market-oriented when developing new products. Companies gather information from either R&D specialists or sales managers and their opinions are highly reflected in new product development. The study's results will help companies recognize the importance of understanding consumers' unmet needs in advance to develop new products in the future.

우유(牛乳)와 유제품(乳製品)의 Riboflavin 함량(含量) 및 일광(日光) 노출시의 파괴율에 관한 연구 (Riboflavin in milk and milk products and the destructive effect of sunlight)

  • 국내(國內)에서 생산(生産)되는 시유(市乳)와 유제품(乳製品)의 riboflavin함량(含量)을 분석(分析)하고 병우유와 폴리팩우유, 흰우유와 초코렛색의 우유를 대비(對比)시켜 일광(日光)에 예민한 riboflavin의 함량변화(含量變化)를 추적한 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. (1) Riboflavin의 함량(含量)은 시료 100g당 병우유 흰것 $62.4{\mu}g$, 폴리팩우유 $62.4{\mu}g$, 초코렛우유 $61.5{\mu}g$, 커피우유 $62.5{\mu}g$, 바나나우유 $87.7{\mu}g$, 딸기우유 $89.3{\mu}g$, 발효유 $36.2{\mu}g$, Hard ice cream bar $130.4{\mu}g$, vanilla soft ice cream $195.9{\mu}g$이었다. (2) 한시간 일광(日光)노출후 병우유 72.4%, 폴리팩우유 77,7%, 두시간 경과후 병우유가 92.0%, 폴리팩우유가 91.4%로서 폴리팩우유가 riboflavin이 약간 빨리 파괴되는 경향(傾向)을 보였으나, 두시간 경과후의 파괴율은 서로 비슷하였다. (3) 1시간 일광(日光)노출후 초코렛색 우유는 36.1%, 흰우유는 72.4%, 두시간 후에는 초코렛색 우유 46.3%, 흰우유는 92.0%의 riboflavin의 파괴율을 보여 초코렛우유가 훨씬 파괴율이 적었다. 이상의 결과(結果)로 미루어 특히 여름철의 일광(日光) 노출은 riboflavin의 막대한 손실이 올 수 있음을 알 수 있었고 초콜렛색의 우유가 흰우유 보다 일광(日光)노출에 대한 riboflavin의 보존(保存)에 효과적이었다.

$8\times8$ UV-PPA 검출기용 Readout IC의 설계 및 제작 (Implementation of Readout IC for $8\times8$ UV-FPA Detector)

  • Readout 회로는 검출기에서 발생되는 신호를 영상신호처리에 적합한 신호로 변환시키는 회로를 말한다. 일반적으로 감지소자와의 임피던스 매칭, 증폭기능, 잡음제거 기능, 및 셀 선택 둥의 기능을 갖추어야하며, 저 전력, 저 잡음, 선형성, 단일성(uniformity),큰 동적 범위(dynamic range), 우수한 주파수 응답 특성 등의 조건을 만족하여야 한다. Focal Plane array (FPA)용 자외선 영상 장비 개발을 위한 기술 요소는 첫째, 자외선 검출기(detector) 재료 및 미세 가공 기술 둘째, detector에서 출력되는 전기신호를 처리하기 위한 ReadOut IC (ROIC) 설계기술 그리고, detector 와 ROIC를 하이브리드 본딩하기 위한 패키지 기술 등으로 구분할 수 있다. ROIC는 영상장비 지능화 및 다기능화를 가능하게 하며, 궁극적으로 고부가가치 상품화를 위한 핵심부품이다. 특히, 고해상도 영상 장비용 ROIC의 개발을 위해서는 검출기 특성, 신호의 동적 범위, readout rate, 잡음 특성, 셀 피치(cell pitch), 전력 소모 등의 설계사양을 만족하는 고집적, 저 전력 회로설계 기술이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 칩 제작 기간 단축 및 비용의 절감을 위하여 $8\times8$ FPA용 prototype ROIC를 설계 및 제작한다. 제작된 $8\times8$ FPA용 ROIC의 단위블럭 및 전체기능을 테스트하며, ROIC 제어보드 및 영상보드를 제작하여 UART(Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) 통신으로 PC의 모니터에서 검출된 영상을 확인함으로써, ROIC의 동작을 완전히 검증할 수 있다.

코스메틱 산업에서의 유통경로상 거래관계가 갈등과 관계만족에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Business Relationships on Conflict and Satisfaction in the Cosmetics Industry's Distribution Channel)

  • Purpose - The cosmetics industry is a traditional high value-added industry in terms of the domestic demand, small batch production systems, exclusive competition, and raw materials highly dependent on overseas countries as well as an oligopolistic market structure. However, new foreign brands and growing consumer awareness of inexpensive products, has triggered a shift. In line with changing lifestyles and the polarization of consumption, the industry faces a new market structure. Among its key characteristics is the cosmetics industry's numerous distribution channels (i.e., department stores, door-to-door sales, online shopping malls, brand shops, and discount stores). Therefore, the study of its distribution channels is essential. Research design, data, and methodology - The study analyzed channel distribution power divided into coercive and non-coercive power. The factors of coercive power included: unilateral request of an increase in commissions, interference in sales by taking advantage of a superior status, unilateral buck-passing at the time of a problem, unilateral request to stop sales activities, and a unilateral business contract; the factors of non-coercive power included favorable payment conditions, offers of various kinds of information, policy on commission reduction, pride in market entrance, and promotion support. In addition, the mediating variable "interdependence" was applied to the execution of department store (or mart) power and their shop conflicts and satisfaction to examine direct and indirect influential power. The methodology was a survey of managers of cosmetics shops in department stores (or marts). The questionnaire, based on a five-point Likert scale, included questions about basic personal information, execution of power, interdependence, conflict, and satisfaction. The study distributed 198 questionnaires and collected 131. Ten questionnaires with missing or hard to analyze data were excluded. Thus, 121 copies were analyzed. Results - According to the analysis, the execution of coercive power by department stores (or marts) did not affect interdependence, but the execution of non-coercive power did. Interdependence did not influence conflict, but did affect satisfaction. Additionally, the analysis revealed direct influential power: the execution of coercive power positively affected conflict and negatively influenced satisfaction; the execution of non-coercive power positively affected satisfaction. Conclusions - To offer suggestions for distribution business relations in the cosmetics industry, this study investigated how the execution of power by department stores (or marts) affected their shops. More specifically, it examined how much the execution of both coercive power and non-coercive power influenced conflict and satisfaction, and analyzed the mediating role of interdependence. In line with previous study results in various areas, coercive power was shown to be the source of conflict, leading to a decrease in satisfaction, whereas non-coercive power significantly positively influenced satisfaction. Moreover, non-coercive power increased interdependence, which led to greater satisfaction. As a result, interdependence had a mediating effect on non-coercive power and satisfaction. Based on the results, department stores (or marts) should look for improvements plans that increase interdependence. Such plans could alleviate conflict with the shops, increasing their satisfaction.

도시재생 과정을 통한 전통시장 비주얼머천다이징 성공사례 연구 (A Study on the Visual Merchandising of Traditional Markets in Urban Regeneration)

  • Purpose - In urban regeneration projects, considerations for rejuvenating traditional public markets are becoming increasingly important. That is because the traditional market is not just a commercial space but also a living center for local people's existence. Cultural contents like these are invaluable assets in the contemporary economy. However, traditional markets are gradually declining because of changes in distribution systems and consumer lifestyles. New distribution systems such as modern distribution markets, home shopping, and online shopping malls made traditional markets less competitive. Further, traditional markets have not been able to adapt to the changing consumption styles of younger generations. Some say that it is a natural phenomenon that cannot be stopped. However, traditional markets are not just another distribution system but also a valuable resource that encapsulates the local people's tradition and history. Thus, a revitalization strategy for traditional public markets has become an urgent task in contemporary urban regeneration projects. This study aimed to find ways to activate traditional public markets by making it a community landmark based on visual merchandising perspectives. Research design and methodology - This study focused on analyzing Granville Island (Vancouver, Canada) as a role-model project for rejuvenating the traditional market. It investigated Granville Island both with walk-through evaluation and literature reviews. Results - We found that it has been developed not only to improve visual aspects, but also to promote cultural contents with high value added. For example, the developers maintained the visual elements that tell the original history of the site as an industrial factory. The renewal project had a balance between improving the outer look and creating attractive contents. The following are the merits of Granville Island that Korean traditional markets should note. First, they kept the whole area clean and hygienic. Second, merchants are well educated, business-savvy, and consumer-oriented. Third, the area's total environmental designs were done by professionals of a high caliber. Fourth, the city government and the merchants'association were collaborating well in their efforts to accommodate the changing needs of consumers. Conclusions - This study made the following suggestions as a conclusion. First, it will be a very powerful tool to rejuvenate the traditional market if we can discover unique cultural resources and develop them as cultural products, experiences, and events. Consumers of the 21st century have a strong tendency to consume not only material products, but also the experiences and memories attached to them. Second, in order to maintain the unique characteristics of traditional markets, fostering the viability of the merchants' association and local residents' society would be essential. Third, it is necessary to make the traditional market into a cultural place not only for the shopping patronage of local residents, but also for attracting tourists to increase sales. Finally, professional management and design approaches are needed in order to make the traditional market a pleasant space from a visual merchandising standpoint.
